ATN has been quite the controversial topic, I don’t blame people for coming to it

I watched it go from 10 posts to like 100 in the first few days, guy. Whoever made the decisions that they did really messed up.
I’ve been away because 343 frustrated me to toxic levels. I popped back and it doesn’t look like much has changed. Has any response occured or are they sweeping this under the carpet while grabbing as much money as they can?

They’ve never swept this under the carpet, they announced that ATN wouldn’t be in the season pass at the same time that ATN was released. They also shared that ATN was never planned to be part of the season pass content so they didn’t “cut it out” in order to make more money.

They don’t come on Waypoint enough for it it make any real difference.
Just found about this.
I spent 10 minutes of my life trying to figure out why downloading the expansion would have cost me money, as I bought the ultimate edition.
I was about to call customer support as I assumed it was an error.
Then I googled.
I logged here just to tell the developers and the publisher I won’t buy anything from you again (not that you care, I know, but I was really shocked for what you did).
I’m not a cow, and I’m not stupid too.
Not angry, just sad, things like this should never happen, and I don’t really get how this decion was made: the game surely has a relatively small player base, and I think it’s safe to assume the ultimate edition was sold in even smaller numbers.
It was expensive, it was a fan/supporter edition, most of us preordered the ultimate edition.
So why alienate the loyal player base?
For a few bucks? Did they really think nobody would notice and open the wallet?
I mean, really, why should I support them anymore when I’m just a cow for them?
The confusion as to why it wasn’t apart of the season pass is because they weren’t clear from Day 1 what exactly comes in the season pass. Destiny 1 and 2 clearly stated that we got 2 expansions. Gears of War 4 clearly points out that 2 maps are released each month for 12 months. Even if they couldn’t point out specifically the number of dlc we were getting, they should have added in the description that we were getting 6 months of content like how Batman Arkham Knight did it. 343i/Creative Assembly have been extremely vague. Fallout 4’s season pass clearly states that you get ALL dlc.
Looking back, I think we got tricked because we didn’t exactly know what were were paying for. It wasn’t clear other than a vague description that said New Leaders, Units, Blitz Card and new Campaign Missions
I also find it a bit strange that Halo Wars 2 Complete Edition costs more than the Ultimate Edition cost at launch and the Complete Edition contains more content.

Did you mean the Ultimate costs more at launch?
Anyways, this is because games value decreases over time.
I’ve been thinking about this whole situation and here is the problem. Their failure to properly advertise their season pass in the description of their own store is where I think the whole issue lies. The description is vague enough that it confused people into thinking they were getting Awaken the Nightmare. Information is so spread out that it’s not unreasonable for people to not know that the season pass content is only for 6 months. All of that should have been conveyed properly through the product description. The average consumer isn’t going to follow all the coverage of the game from announcement to release. And that shouldn’t be a requirement.
All of that said, if the Halo Wars 2 Season Pass was properly advertised and it clear from the start what we were getting. I would have bought Awaken the Nightmare without complaint. The problem is I think somebody in the Marketing team for Microsoft needs fired. Microsoft have already been called into question with the Forza Motorsport VIP Pass where they tried to change things behind our backs. People noticed when they tried to take away x2 money for owning the VIP Pass in favor of 5 x2 money boosts. It’s clear they were trying to force people into Microtransactions. If they had just come out with that from the start, less people may have bought the pass but they wouldn’t look as bad as they do now because they got caught changing it. And because of that, they had to change it back because they could have been fined for false advertisement or even be looking at fraud charges.
This combined with Halo Wars 2 shows a shady practice coming to light with how Microsoft handle season passes that needs to stop. Stop trying to deceive us, stop trying to confuse us because I think people will be willing to buy your season passes if your just upfront with people from the start. Stop trying to use underhanded tactics to try and maximize the number of sales you get for your games.
Microsoft, cut out the -Yoink-.
So no more pre-ordering, no more season passes and no more special editions.
Complaining at this point is meaningless. They have our cash and are laughing all the way to the bank, not giving a second thought as to how the community feels about their shady business practices. I don’t want to be overly dramatic but at this point I’m not giving them another dime. I’m teetering on the edge of just not caring about this franchise anymore. The halo 5 req packs system, the pay to win blitz and warzone game modes, ATN not being in the season pass, etc. I’m sorry to say that with the way 343 is handling things I could care less about halo 6 and future installments. I don’t know about you, but I like to be treated like a valued customer, not to be treated as a bottomless piggy bank waiting to be broken open time and time again. There’s just no more respect. I know it’s been said hundreds of times before, but that’s just my two cents.
And yes, I fully expect the “see ya” and “won’t be missed” comments.
woah, the -Yoinking!- is incredibly nonstop. People love to whine forever without being able to move on, as if it would change anything.

So the people who are “whining” are more at fault than the ones who committed the crime? What kind of nonsensical logic is that?

It’s the only argument available at this point because everyone is, basically, in agreement that 343 or whoever was in charge messed up. A lot.

No, the whiners have no point. They got an expansion, they got 7 months, and they got blitz cards. The extra expansion (That they didn’t plan on making) was never alluded to as being included in the season pass.

I’m going to assume you haven’t read the whole thread like I have. (I do have nothing better to do, so suck it.) Back in, I’m gonna guess, early February-late January, the season pass specifically mentioned a campaign expansion. It was then changed at some point, probably after most preorders were placed and without anyone’s knowledge, to specifically reference the Spearbreaker mini-campaign. Want proof? Go back through the thread and look, I do not have the -Yoinks- to give to look it up for you.

I already know it’s been changed. It essentially says the same thing. You still got an expansion(though a garbage one) event though it wasn’t the one you wanted. They only clarified, it never said you’ll be getting everything.

You all make me sick. Stop whining and complaining. Unless your under the age of 18 with no job and have to ask mommy and daddy for 19.99 then there nothing to complain about .
ultimate edition was 79.99 , other games like destiny 2 and gears 4 were all 99.99 with full DLC.
Ultimate edition broken down
halo wars 2: 59.99
halo wars DE : 19.99
There is your 79.99 BUT on top of that you got
operation spear breaker campaign
EVERY SINGLE LEADER IN THE GAME.
Add 19.99 and your at 99.99 like every other game and getting all the DLC!!
okay, they made another campaign and 2 more leaders and you feel you deserve it for free when 343i gave us what they promised us. There was no secret here. If you don’t want the content then don’t purchase it.
Funny how all you gamers want to attack 343i when Microsoft charges us 59.99 for an annual subscription that costs them ZERO to run and operate . Their servers are already up and running to push downloadable games . That’s why PSN was free for PS3 becuz it costs them nothing to have online gaming but Sony seen how much Microsoft was making and started to charge for their “online” services. Not to mention PC users get Xbox live for FREE and console have to pay?!
So instead of bashing 343i who gave us a great game, took a lot of time and effort to balance the game , especially after every leader to the best of their ability and prolong the halo franchise. Not offfended by all mighty Microsoft now are we?! So sick and tired of everyone in this world playing the victim role, if u don’t have 19.99 to spend then maybe you shouldn’t have bought a 300.00 console. That’s like ppl who drive luxury cars and ask if it’s okay to put in regular gas so they can save 3.00 a fill up. WHEN DID COMMON SENSE BECOME NOT SO COMMON?!
