ATN Not In Season Pass?

Well sorry friends I payed for ALL the dlc with my ULTIMATE edition!!! This is completely unfair and highway robbery tbh. They gave us 2 missions with their “season pass” and the two missions wasn’t even that fun. Not that fun is a requirement here… But I’d say getting what I freaking paid for is!! I echo other people in saying 343i your the new EA! I was mad at your crappy Halo 5 launch I couldn’t even play, and now you want to charge me another $20 for DLC I already paid for with my $100 ultimate edition. Yeah I don’t think so. I went so far as to go to Microsoft support over this, and they said they feel for me! Going so far as to let me purchase ATM and then refunding it right away while keeping it. Which they shouldn’t even have to do! Seriously wake up and smell the fact you’re slapping your best and most supportive customers in the face with this! Not that you care because now it’s out already couple days and nothing has changed price wise. Definitely NOT buying anymore ULTIMATE editons from you, because ultimately you don’t care about gamers, just your pockets.
> > > > >
> > > > > 1. In the Ultimate Edition it said it provided the season pass, which does not include ATN. Not saying it’s right/wrong that the SP didn’t include ATN, just saying you aren’t entitled to receive “what you paid for” when you never paid for it.
> > > > >
> > > > > 2. It’s the publisher that makes these decisions, not the developer. 343 works on a contract basis with Microsoft. Meaning 343 gets paid a flat amount and Microsoft receives all of the money from the sales of Halo Wars, Blitz packs, and ATN. So really if you should be mad at anyone it should be Microsoft deciding these prices.

It hasn’t even been a full year since release. Don’t defend them haha! I paid for ALL the DLC with season pass, not just DLC they think should be included in it. Apparently Microsoft support agreed with me.
> > >
> > > If you read the season pass description it does not say all of the DLC, just the DLC over a 6 month period

Most people bought the pass thinking they would get an expansion (im talking about pre orders, as the preorder description said expansion). If 343 simply said this, it would have avoided all this confusion.
> >
> > I feel like I am repeating myself but its just another marketing mistake. That, or they didn’t say it on purpose knowing that season pass/ult ed sales would drop massively due to everyone knowing it wont include the one and only expansion.

> I agree it is a marketing mistake, but ske7ch has shared publicly that the team had no idea if they were going to get a green light for ATN. Probably why it wasn’t mentioned prior to it’s announcement.

I get that, however they should have mentioned a likelihood of it happening in that scenario.

E.g [season pass description]*

*An additional campaign expansion may be sold outside the 6 month period covered by the season pass or Ultimate edition, this release is subject to change or cancellation. Simple really. I would explain why this is important with an analogy, however I think that this makes sense as is.

343, hire me

> Why the hell is this thread still alive. Do you guys really think complaining about this is gonna change anything. If you think ATN is worth it than buy it. 20 bucks is nothing as long as it will last you a while. I bought it because I am a huge fan of HW2 and play it frequently. Watch videos on Youtube that showcase the new leaders and gamemodes. If you don’t think its worth it than don’t buy it. You got over 20$ of content with the season pass so why were you all so sure this was going to be included. Blur Studios (the company behind the gorgeous cinematics) are extremely expensive so 343i needed some way of gaining money back from that.
>
> Long story short, I think it’s worth it so I bought it. If you don’t think its worth it than don’t buy it. I understand many of you don’t own or want to use 20 more dollars on a game you’ve already paid for so don’t mistake me for a quote on quote “343 fanboy”, rather a big fan of HW 2. Its quite sad how long this thread has lasted. So buy it or don’t buy it and please move on, complaining won’t change anything
>
> PS, I believe the extra costs for ATN in other countries is a glitch in Xbox store but don’t quote me on that. If it is really Microsoft scamming you than that really is terrible and should be addressed in another thread (which I encourage someone to make). That is all have to say.

You haven’t read a single point here have you? No one is saying ATN is not worth the $20. The point here is the marketing mistakes they made with the SP/UE.

Because the definition of a “Season Pass” means any dlc will be included in it, so you’re saving a fraction of the money instead of buying it separate. Also, when you buy a burger and fries and the burger comes without a bun, you don’t say. “Well you shouldn’t have expected that it came with one”.

Except they said the season pass would only last for 6 months

Well…, buy the season pass they said, it will include all future content they said. So glad I wasted my money on the season pass and was stoked for the new update to find out that “wait actually the season pass isn’t a real season pass you just get some of the stuff”. Thanks for being petty F$&@'s.
hope you try to make this right… :frowning:
6 month season pass is garbage your just being -Yoinks!-

Wrong…When most people originally purchased the game this is what the season pass said. And it is still listed on the link I posted below.

Read this as well. Pretty much says the UE was replaced with the CE.
“With the release of the new expansion and several months of updates to Halo Wars 2 since launch, the Ultimate Edition of the game will be replaced with Halo Wars 2: Complete Edition. I want people to know, and for those who know, remember, that even Destiny 1, acknowledge that getting expansions out of a season pass pissed people off, so what did they did with the last expansion? (the 4th out of 4, the first 2 being season pass, the 3th being fully priced) A GOD BLESSED DISCOUNT for those players that bought Destiny (only on those editions that had the formention SEASON PASS) on the first year of the game. It’s impresive how they did give a solution even before the DLC even released, and here, we have to bite our own Tails for a solution. PEOPLE IN THIS THREATH, IT CAN BE DONE! IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE, LET’S PUSH TOGETHER TO A BETTER END! WE NEED TO LET THEM KNOW, THAT THIS CAN’T GO ON.

If they are not going to give us the expansion for what we paid as Ultimate Edition buyers, we should look forward and seek a discount for the expansion, that we as ultimate edtition buyers deserve.

If we’re going to be very specific (which is good for the debate, nothing wrong with that) the season pass was from February to August, a period of 7 months. So longer than six months. Additionally, it did provide value long after launch.

Now, I’m not saying this isn’t shady, but 343 did fulfill all of those promises. As for the Complete Edition replacing the Ultimate Edition, that makes total sense. The Ultimate Edition is already discounted, so why would you sell it without ATN? The price of the Complete Edition is the same as the discounted Ultimate plus ATN, so I see no problem here.

It said “more than 6 months”. They were not specific so its a bit grey.

I know this is getting old. There are many people going too far in regard to posting about this, however we need to get across the understanding of the failure of marketing here. As I said before, I would buy ATN for $20 USD (25AUD), no worries at all- I think it is worth it.

Also, another thing. Guys, season pass does not mean “all future content” unless stated. With games like battlefield and their premium pass yes, because that expectation was set by past games, but HW2 that is not the case. Yes, it was not clear how long it will last and what will come with it (description was changed etc etc). Personally, I believe the Ultimate edition should have been called “Leader Edition” and the Season pass should have been called “Leaders Pass” (or similar). To avoid the expectations that have lead to the forums essentially exploding with confusion/hatred/accusations etc.

I also should add that my HW2 Ultimate edition is no longer in my MS store (windows 10).

As I’ve said before, you never paid for ATN. It was never planned for the season pass, ever. You can’t receive “the expansion that you paid for” if you never actually paid for it.

I understand what you mean here, however the destiny 1 season pass was quite expensive. The HW2 one was only $20 USD (although in the AU store it is $49 AUD…) and made up its value from Leaders/spear breaker. From the point of marketing no doubt points and arguments can be made, but from a value standpoint the season pass was great value considering the effort it takes to make and balance new leaders on a near monthly basis.

Good point, just one detail, the season pass was 29.99 not 20USD

It´s funny: Ultimate Edition with Season Pass and HW:D 89,99€! HW2: Complete Edition with Season Pass and ATN 69,99€!!!

Ultimate Edition 89,99€ + ATN 24,99€ = 114,98€ == HW2:CE 69,99€

Something very very strange!!
I wish I had bought the game only now and not already at the release (Ultimate:( )
I know it was said 1000 times…

We were sold a season pass with the expressed promise of it including a “campaign expansion”. We then got only two missions, and then the ATN campaign expansion comes along as content outside of the season pass.

To better represent this they changed the description on the season pass from “campaign expansion” to “campaign missions”.

Now to me, that definitely sounds like they decided to not provide the expansion they were working on in the season pass and charge separately. If this wasn’t the case, the season pass description would have always said “campaign missions”.

The wording you refer to was changed months before release. Additionally, 343 has said that never in development was ATN planned to be in the season pass

It’s clear that ATN was not in the works when the initial season pass was sold.

There isnt some secret practice going on to swindle the players out of their hard-earned dollars, or whatever.
ATN has a lot of stuff, and blur cut scenes cost money. That has to be paid for somehow.

Also, it’s not all that much money. And if you want, you can wait a year until maybe it’s all sold on sale?

Well, honestly I am pissed. No doubt about the release of a new Campaign is a great thing, but contrary to others I expected it to be a part of the Season Pass.
Yes I, know a lot of new stuff, leaders and so on…
But: when I bought the Ultimate Edition of Halo Wars I had to pay 89.99 Euro for it. Then I had to wait several weeks after the release and multiple customer support sessions, till I got all the stuff, which was included to this Edition.
So now they expect me to buy this new campaign for 24.99 Euro? So nearly 115 Euro for a game? I simply do not waste any more money on it, just because there is “Halo” in the name. I am deeply disappointed.
Since I am not a 12 year old fanboy and have to work for my money, I came to realise, that the necessary amount of money isn’t worth the output.

You got what you paid for, and then there was more.
You need to pay for the “more,” if you want it.
Otherwise, don’t get it. Life goes on.

@BreezyStarfish1. I pre-ordered my copy back in June 2016, the full Ultimate edition, with season pass (that’s 7/8 months before it launched). Back when I paid, it said “expansion”, and never at any point was I directly told about the changes to what I had ordered. If 343i considered those two missions the expansion, I think the wording would have remained unchanged. Clearly at some point they changed their mind about what they would offer as far as the Campaign Expansion was concerned, despite already having my money to provide one.

During ATN’s development they might have not planned for it to be in the season pass, but it could have been planned before dev on ATN started, or another expansion was planned but scrapped (or shortened to those two missions) in favour of ATN. Then of course there’s also the real possibility that 343i are again lying to save face. Something that they’ve been very willing to do in the past.

@FungusUCantKill. Well obvious someone at MS agreed that the practice wasn’t right because they refunded me my full £64.99. So if I was to buy anything now it would be Halo Wars 2: CE and get the game plus all DLC, and I would definitely wait until it goes on sale. All for much cheaper than I originally paid. Assuming I repurchase the game at all.

The bottom line here is that I pre-ordered, and did so so far in advance, as a sign of support for the Halo Wars series. Halo Wars was the last corner of Halo that hadn’t been marred by shady business practices and poor Developer-Customer relationships. That’s not the case anymore.

So MS refunded you the money and you don’t have the game anymore? Does that mean you don’t even play? If so, why are you on here complaining about your OPINION? This is all your OPINION of what happened… Your perception of 343i and their practices. None of this is proof or evidence.

I on the other hand have the opinion that 343 did not lie, I would rather pay $20 for a great expansion to keep 343 making money so they can keep making the games I like to play, and think that they did most everything right throughout the process…

So keep on complaining about your opinion of things even though you don’t play the game.

EDIT: I too wish this thread would just die… However, I more wish that all the babies would just get on here and complain to each other instead of starting a new thread all the time. Maybe everyone who disagrees with the whiny millennials should just stay off this thread and let them all get on here and have a pity party.
