Games have only gotten harder and more expensive to make yet the price of a new game hasn’t even changed for inflation. To account for how much work they have to put into, they put in micro-transactions and DLC with added content with the idea that “if someone likes this game, maybe they will spend more money if we develop more of it”. If that offends you then don’t buy it. I guess I’m weird in that I don’t mind supporting the developers on something that I really enjoy if they are offering more content but if your still on halo waypoint, 5+ months after the games release, clearly they did a few things right. The way I rationalize it to myself is “If I play a game for more hours then dollars I spent on it, it was worth it” I know I have spent well over 80 hours on this game and I will definitely spend more than 20 after the expansion. I am going to buy the expansion, enjoy it, and not have any second thoughts about it.

Ask and you’ll receive! (Of course that assumes there’s easily found evidence, but I love that song.)

Here is the think I think that you keep missing and why you keep responding 343I MADE their own distinction between what is an expansion and what is not when they changed their language and then used that same language again to refer to awakening the nightmare also I would like to point out that it took reddit to show the community this not 343I, had 343I announced they were doing this they wouldn’t have had an issue but they did it in secret. (The fact that they are changing terms of service with no update to the people who had bought it in the first place should worry you) and I would like to point out that changing a term such as first person shooter to its abbreviated form of fps would not be the same because 343 set the standard for their own terms. (Aka spearbreaker = missions ATN = expansion)

Thank you my fellow poster and I know we disagree quite a bit but I do respect your opinion as well even if I don’t agree with it

Wouldn’t kid be a personal attack since it does not apply to me I may use ad hominems but at least in not a hypocrite

But, Missions=expansion.

It is really weird they changed the description. I don’t understand why they did because there was no actual real change made as far as I can see. It’s confusing. But I wouldn’t call it worrying, and the store description is not the terms of service either.

And I really struggle to get offended by such a minor change when we got 7 DLC packs for 7.50-20 pounds depending on edition. 3 leaders a pop (assuming each leader was treated as a map) plus a two mission campaign expansion back in the day would have been charged at like £8 a pack, for 3 packs worth £24. And that’s back the last time they did paid expansions which was 2012 with Halo 4. So after 5 years of inflation, DLC got cheaper.

Is it too much to ask that people be happy with such progress? ATN is shaping up to be what was it? Six missions, 2 leaders and a new AI faction and new COOP game mode for £15ish pounds? (Whatever $20 is now days) And all people are focusing on is “Urm, they changed expansion to additional missions. I have been lied to.”

You’re making school based comparisons, which caused me to think kid instead of mate. Most people over 18 don’t think about school in day to day life or would use lecturer for college or university so it just jumped to mind. My bad.

Fair enough, as I said my bad

Manual Quotes because the word limit got funny on me: “But, Missions=expansion.”

“I know where our issue is I would agree with you when you say that generally campaign missions and expansion are one and the same but the developers of this game made the distinction between the two by changing the terms and then being extremely careful with their terminology”

Weird, considering. Does leave me wondering why they bothered changing it. I’d argue the careful bit, it seems they caused this entire issue by being careless and changing things for the sake of it. Shot themselves in foot there, caused worry for no reason and confused people.

I get what your saying. I don’t think it’s worth being upset about as it made no difference to what we got, didn’t violate our rights and was extremely good value for money. Why obsess over a confusing wording change instead of the amazing content? (Serina and Forge not withstanding. But that’s being actively worked on while stuff in HW1 remains broken to this day.)

How do you know that no planned content was cut? (Aka ATN I’m not saying it is but the change is an odd coincident when they call it what they were originally going to include in the season pass before they changed it and started charging 20 dollars.)

The problem is that technically speaking Operation Spearbreaker is an expansion, so they did fulfill their end. It definitely does have less content than you’d expect from an expansion though. I do agree that they should have alerted buyers whenever the description was changed.

They might have only changed the description to avoid confusion for some people, “new campaign missions” specifies exactly what it is, until then they probably didn’t know what would be included in the season pass themselves. Having 2 pieces of content marketed as expansions but 1 in the season pass and significantly smaller than the other could cause confusion for some people.

ATN was never going to be part of the season pass anyway, it and everything else in the season pass for €30 would have been too good a deal to be financially viable for the developers.

If that offends you then don’t buy it. I guess I’m weird in that I don’t mind supporting the developers on something that I really enjoy if they are offering more content but if your still on halo waypoint, 5+ months after the games release, clearly they did a few things right. I am going to buy the expansion, enjoy it, and not have any second thoughts about it.

And what if it was? We still got what we bought. They might have indeed planned ATN to be in the season pass and then gone “Bugger it all me lads, we’ve gone massively over budget on these blur cutscenes, adding the flood… let’s give them spearbreaker as the expansion and then do this standalone.” Even if that was the case, it still wasn’t “cut” per say, as we got an expansion. It’s not worth worrying about inless you feel you didn’t get your monies worth in the season pass. If that’s the case, each to their own. As I’ve stated, I think it’s amazing value, stupidly good if you got UE.

I have to disagree strongly!
We got extremely good value for the money? All we got were some new leaders. These leader include some powers and a few new units. Each leader costs 7$. That’s roughly 12% of what the main game costs. Do you think creating one leader with three new units and three new leader powers cost 343 12% of the time, effort and money that they used to create the entire game including the story, environments, all launch units, all buildings, all launch leaders, all versus gamemodes, all versus maps, all Blitz cards, the Blitz map, the UI, the rendered cutscenes, the challenges, the voice acting, the motion capture acting, the gameplay, the balancing, the collectables, the visual effects, the sound effects and even more I forgot to mention?
These leaders are worth less than half a percent compared to the main game!
I already explained why they chose that high price for the leaders. I will just quote myself.

> Changing the description alone is nothing less than fraud or willful deception of the customer. Most of the customers bought the season pass because they wanted a new campaign expansion. This is the big DLC here, that’s what they cared for, not some lazy leaders. Leaders are okay, but not worth buying the season pass. You took out the main incentive to buy the season pass and overpriced the remaining small content. Those leaders are never worth 7$ each. You just chose that price so all leaders add up to the 30$ that the season pass costs and no one can blame you for not delivering content as worthy as the price of the season pass.
> Though it didn’t clearly say which campaign expansion we will get, one can assume it will be the first campaign expansion that is announced.
> The customers gave you money before they got any products. And with their money they gave their trust as well. You are obliged to fulfill your promises and deliver the content that was advertised.
> If we get everything that we have been promised, everything is fine. But if you don’t deliver what you advertised I will demand a refund and I will also see if I can take legal measures.

The stated “more than six months of updates” have been delivered by now.
Still two more promises to fulfill…

> The stated “more than six months of updates” have been delivered by now.
> Still two more promises to fulfill…

As I said, if you paid for the season pass as part of ultimate edition you got, if you even split the season pass and DE each leader for £1 (that’s 2% of the games cost) and spearbreaker for 1.50. We are getting constant updates still, I imagine we will keep seeing balancing updates for quite some time which will include our DLC content. I won’t get into another person arguing new missions doesn’t mean an expansion. Add one mission to a campaign, expanded. Expansion. And at 75P per mission with the ultimate edition or £2.50 per mission buying the season pass separately I’m not bothered at all. That’s good value.

If you don’t like it, that’s a shame. But for the cost of the season pass I’m perfectly happy. Not going to lie when I say all of you people come off as very demanding and entitled when you actually look at the cost of ultimate edition and what you’re paying for at it’s cheapest price.

Your complaints sum up to “They changed some words and are not giving me more content! I’m not happy paying £7.50 for six leaders and a two mission campaign expansion! I want more! I want! I want!” And I just went and checked, we actually got 7 leaders. Kisano, Johnson, Jerome, Serina, Arbiter, Colony, Yap Yap. As Jerome and Arbiter dropped together, I imagine that’s where the more content came from. One of those two was meant to release seprately but they decided to do both together and it threw the delivery schedule a little shorter. Which means I’ve been wrong all along…if leaders are £1 each, spearbreaker cost 50p…

There is a halo wars 2 complete edition on the market place for 60usd. This includes the season pass and atn. I feel for the people who spent a lot on the ultimate edition.
