ATN Not In Season Pass?

Season Pass ≠ Lifetime Pass.

Borderlands 2 is a prime example, leaving out three DLC that released inbetween DLCs that were covered by the season pass. Two of these were new characters, another was a level cap increase. And even after all of that, none of the five Headhunter DLC packs were covered by the season pass either.
> > >
> > > Season passes don’t have to cover all DLC a company releases. They make it very clear what kind of content they will cover. Halo 4’s for example said specifically that it’d cover three DLC packs and it did. Then Champion’s Bundle released and it wasn’t covered by the pass.
> > >
> > > And they also don’t cover a full year’s worth of content unless they specifically say they will. Most games have their final DLC a few months before a full year anyway. Halo Wars 2’s said it’d have more than six months of updates. That doesn’t mean a full year, that means it’s going to have DLC at least six months after release. Guess what? The season pass’s final DLC is in August, six months after Halo Wars 2 released.

> > And who would pay whatever that price was not knowing what would be released beforehand?

> You shouldn’t be doing that regardless of price yet here we all are buying season passes.

Very good point, but this is the first season pass that I have ever purchased or had the ability to purchase. Any dlc I get for games comes from game of the year editions, or sales where they come with whole packs for one low price.

But if they had told the season pass holders that ATN was not part of the season pass before purchase, had not included the phrase ‘campaign expansion’ in the season pass description and then went on to change said description, people wouldn’t have to much of a problem. But they didn’t, and now there is a poop storm going on about shady business practices, misinformation and deliberately lying to customers to swindle more money out of them. Yes, it is an optional purchase, but firefight an actual game mode that most people want to play is now behind a pay wall! This is what has gotten my back up, 343i love to make people pay or wait for game modes that should be in the product day one (BTB Halo 5 anyone).

One last thing since when have cut scene’s been a bullet point to sell a game? “New cut scenes by Blur Studios” don’t get me wrong Blur do make some beautiful and mind blowing cut scenes but they are only there as the icing on the cake the real selling point should be gameplay.

When was the season pass description changed?

Firefight looks done already, so it looks like the 2 leaders and the campaign is all that’s left to do for the expansion. I agree on the Blur cutscenes they’re cool but the gameplay should be the selling point. I think they were handled much worse in the HW2 campaign than HW1 anyway.

Description was changed months before launch.

Why does this thread even exist then?

33 pages of people complaining about a season pass description change that happened months before the game even launched. Pre ordering games and their DLC makes no sense to me especially if you’re getting a digital version.

People are upset that they changed it without notifying people. Personally I’m in the same boat as you. Pre-ordering is a risk so you’ve gotta accept them if you’re going to preorder.

You know when you pre order a game or DLC, you’re buying a product that’s not final and subject to change?

No need to be overly sarcastic and condescending dude.

I understand why you (and many others) are upset. It’s completely justified. I just don’t share the same frustration.

And that’s why this thread shouldn’t exist in the first place. Almost everyone in this thread bought the season pass or ultimate edition months before the game even came out or the first DLC was revealed. They put money down on something despite having no idea what that would be.

I myself bought the Ultimate Edition mostly just to to get Halo Wars: Definitive Edition. The season pass was just a bonus given to me for basically free.

Sometimes I really ask myself at which age most the guys here are? Have you ever signed a contract or something else which is legally in your entire life? Or is your Xbox Live depending on that your parents give you their Credit Card Numbers…???

The moment you buy a product its description at this very moment is legally binding. If there will be other crucial changes the selling company is legally binded to say that possible changes can occur and to which extent. Nothing of this has happened.

And to clarify something else. This isnt a thread where you fanboy guys should stop by and say how happy you are with having not bougt the season pass etc etc. What we discuss here is that a season pass was sold, never ever mentioned that content is coming not included in the season pass. Most the folks bought the season pass on the basis for real new campaign content and not 2 single missions.

Yes, it is an optional purchase, but firefight an actual game mode that most people want to play is now behind a pay wall! This is what has gotten my back up, 343i love to make people pay or wait for game modes that should be in the product day one (BTB Halo 5 anyone).

This practice really makes me not want to pre-order any more. I used to like the idea of letting companies know I am ready to support them creating a franchise I love, but that shouldn’t allow them to be sketchy and change descriptions.

This, and pre-order bonuses are no longer unique or even something useful anymore.

Tbh they only reason I ever preorder a game anymore is for midnight access. But that’s beginning to become less and less valuable.

I’m getting old and can’t do that anymore. I now pre-order for exclusive skins or something useful. I actually thought getting the ultimate edition would be awesome because of the expansion word in the original description. I thought “hey, they never add story/ campaign anymore! It is all micro transactions and cash grabs”

Surprise… Surprise…

Lets sum a few things up.

We have a multi-billion sales company, one of the biggest in the world and one of most important ones when it comes for operating systems, which is the publisher of 343 and who is the owner of the most important brand for the Xbox: HALO.

They release at the E3 a new console upgrade and also announce a new Expansion for Halo Wars 2, which is not included in the season pass. It is just industry standard in 99% of all cases that new DLCs are included in a season pass and which was also in the description of the season pass when it was sold.

You want to sell new consoles? You want to keep the Halo brand alive? You want to have a name for yourself as 343 industries? You want to enjoy respect and commitment by the community?

Then this is definitely the road you should follow: Let people buy and pre-order ultimate editions for 90 € / 90 € / 90 £, effectively paying almost 30% EXTRA on the general game price and tell them that new campaign content is coming. Then ignore completely the promised content, announce something very awesome and tell them yeah this is the new campaign, it is coming for Halo Wars 2 and you have to pay extra for it. Ignore also all the forum posts. Write something related to that in some subforums, but not on your official forum pages. Community managers should be very busy with not showing. And the best thing: Dont try to find a solution and or to make up for the confusion or to find any kind of compromise.

I am not sure but I have the feeling that a lot of people have enough of that. Halo is an amazing game in general, but you will keep loosing so many fans and buyers with the current attitude here. I have really enough of that. And I can speak only for myself but this will be my last game of 343 depending on how they will handle this. In my view a fair solution would be a discount for all season pass / ultimate edition buyers.

I love halo so I will eventually get new games and DLC but definitely done pre-orders and buying new. I will pick them up second hand or when on sale unless some fan service is done.

Regardless, I’m also curious about what shady stuff McDonald’s does (I actually want to know, those stories are usually entertaining) but you can send that in a PM as it doesn’t have much relevance here. As for my eating habits, I can’t remember the last time I went to McDonald’s or fast food in general. I’m at University now and actually cook most things myself, it’s fun trying new recipes.

This forum is essentially a place they can gather massive amounts of valuable data to help guide their future business decisions. A lot of companies still have to rely on little incentives on a receipt in order to entice customers to give them feedback. 343 Industries gets all the feedback they could ever want from these forums.

You see? That’s a problem I have with a lot of the fan base. The fan base keeps saying “Give it time” or “We’ll see” or “Give them another chance, they’re new at this”. I’ve been hearing that from community members since they released Halo CEA without true classic multiplayer, been hearing it since we saw the first footage of Halo 4 when things didn’t look quite right, heard it when they announced there were no plans for a Halo 4 beta, I heard it repeatedly as Halo 4’s population tanked less than 6 months after launch, I heard it from Bonnie Ross herself when she promised 343 Industries wouldn’t stop until The Master Chief Collection is to 100% in 2014 (still isn’t 100% btw), I heard it when Halo 5 released with a horrendous campaign and absolute bare bones multiplayer and I’m hearing it now when they pull the bait and switch with the Halo Wars 2 season pass.

I’m tired of waiting and giving second, third, fourth and fifth chances. I’m glad I didn’t buy Halo 4 and got it for free from work, I’m glad I didn’t even bother with Halo 5. I’m glad I didn’t buy Halo Wars 2 or the rip off of a season pass. I’m just tired of 343 constantly messing everything up and still having people defend them. I’m just tired man.

Hey umm not to get trolled on or anything but I have to agree that this should be included in the Season for the simple fact that it states
“Grow your war chest with the Halo Wars 2 Season Pass. The Season Pass delivers regular updates that span more than six months, including: New Leaders with abilities that change the course of multiplayer matches, new Units that add to your multiplayer arsenal, new Blitz cards to collect and take into battle, and new campaign missions that expand the Halo Wars 2 story”. So in my opinion thats false advertising. Now don’t get me wrong I now it probably cost a little bit to make it and so forth , but then they shouldn’t have stated it. At least most season passes that do this state a specifics (you know for the first 2 dlc’ s like destiny or the first years worth of dlc) Hell I’ll be happy if the just give me the first campaign dlc for free and then just do the leaders afterwards, they would be abiding by their advertisement techanlly.
