I’d just prefer people draw those conclusions themselves (which is fine if people believe that, to each their own), rather than see it and take it as fact.

> You have explained it perfectly, my question is why you have let it bother you so much? It just boggles my mind that people let their jimmies get this rustled.
>
> And I believe you are wrong about “campaign expansion”. There was been plenty of talk about “Operation Spearbreaker” which is, by definition, a campaign expansion that is coming and has been talked about and is included in the season pass. This does in no way mean or indicate that ATN was absolutely originally going to be apart of the season pass.
>
> I bet you it was debated and considered to maybe be included but I bet, due to the price of the season pass, that ATN was cut from the season pass long before we even knew about the season pass because 343i new it would be too big of an expansion to include with the season pass at the price that the season pass was/is.
>
> And yes part of that reason was because they realized it would cost much more then what the season pass price would cover therefore they removed it and decided to sell it on its own for business reasons. There is nothing wrong with that at all.
>
> They are not milking money - you have complete and absolute control if you buy any of the content they produce. The game is completely playable without any of it. This type of argument defense has zero ground and is rather a cherry picking of words. The assumption that ATN would be included in the season pass is no more then that, an assumption. Just because people have made that assumption does not mean its right nor does it warrant the abuse being thrown at 343i.
When you dont want to get thrown words like “shady”, “dishonest” etc. etc. then you should be very clear with the road of your communication to these folks.
Have they said it before selling the season pass that extra content is coming which is not included in the season pass? Guess what, no.
If they told so, how do you think it would have affected the season pass sells. Woooow… you have to have an PhD in Econometrics to analyze that effect, for sure.
Now it gets a veryyyyyy bad taste. This is what we are all talking here and whats the very core of the discussion. Not that 343 puts effort into the game, that it is cost intensive etc. etc. We all accept that and we are all willing to pay for real content and appreciate this great game.
As much as I have posted on this thread and how ticked off I am about the scenario, I would agree with some previous posts. If 343 doesn’t care at this point then they never will. Not even a response to this thread or a care in the world. They made their point they don’t care or willing to make up for anything at this point. So might as well lock the thread.

I am still hoping for something like at least a discount on ATN for all the people who pre-ordered / bought the Ultimate Edition on Release.
This would be a fair compromise and would also feel right.

Yep, I would agree. It would be that simple as "Hey sorry for the confusion, those who already paid us can get it half (hell, even a quarter) off. Follow up by “any major expansions will be at cost.”

Honestly, I’d be happy with that.
Just an acknowledgement that they messed up and some form of compensation.

I think 20-25% off for season pass holders is perfectly fair after this confusion. Another thing that I believe must be chased up is the pricing in the Australian store. I have said this once before but it’s another point I’ll repeat.
The season pass sold for $49 AUD on the Aus MS store. 20 AUD = 26 USD, so its way off. This needs to be sorted out before ATN or else it will be there for $49 aud too…

That is what they should do to make it right, but they won’t. Remember when MCC multiplayer was horribly broken for months and they said if you played before December 19th you get ODST for free, knowing full well that tons of people had purchased the game before the 19th for Christmas, so although they had purchased earlier they didn’t play until the 25th, meaning they weren’t eligible to get ODST free? 343 is shady. They won’t do the right thing here because this isn’t a mistake. It was an intentional cash grab. Why do I care? Because I’ve reached the point to where I can’t justify buying another 343 product no matter how much I love Halo. I skipped HW2 due to being fed up with microtransactions in H5. I keep up with it because how they handle things affects the Halo franchise. Now I can’t see buying Halo 6 either. I can’t give money to someone who continues to treat customers horribly. It’s sad because all they have to do is be open and honest, but they won’t.

This actually wouldn’t be that bad! No actually this a fantastic Idea!
ATN Cost Advocators, I’m sorry to keep bringing this up, but its still a justified issue, I respect both sides, and everyone should too, but this could solve the anger!
25% off isn’t that bad and it would surely quell the resistance that still exists, mind you, for the cost of the new expansion.
Not everyone bought the seasons pass so it would be something small, and would show that they care about winning the trust of the future.
We’re all on this, and it’s been a talk-able subject, and it shouldn’t be a worthless result. 25% off cost for Season’s Pass owners quells the trust issue, keeps the cost for people who want to keep the price, and lowers it for those who drove against it in the first place!
If anyone wants to disagree this solution, please tell me, and be serious, cause this seems like a great solution, I’m surprised we didn’t think about it until now!

What is pointless however, is this comment.

They do that I’m never supporting another of their products again, even if they change their tune.
Shutting something down because you don’t like what you hear from it is unacceptable.

Ignore the problem until it goes away is a tactic used often by many companies. Sad 343 is ignoring THE largest thread on the HW2 forum.

But eh, I’ll reiterate a point I made…some number of pages ago, which others have posted since;
A discount to Season Pass owners seems like a fair compromise for the confusion caused; I’m glad that 343 have acknowledged the murkiness of the situation in the community update, but I also couldn’t agree more with people who think 343 needs to extend olive-branches at every chance they get these days.

It’s sad because Halo Wars 2 campaign feels so sparse overall, especially with the ending clearly intending a sequel or tie in with how huge of a cliffhanger it was. 7 cutscenes for 12 missions when we got a cutscene after every mission in HW 1.
Meanwhile Halo Wars 2’ campaign isn’t robust or extremely well written to begin with yet the real campaign expansion we have to pay for, yet as far as I can tell it probably won’t add much considering there’s 2 cinematics apparently and 7 missions. How is that going to bring the flood back in anywhere near a satisfactory way? Yet we’re expected to pay $20 for it. I don’t even think it earns a $20 price tag given how mediocre HW 2’s campaign was even if we ignore 343’s current mishap.

I’d love a discount.
That said, I don’t agree with whomever said “Sad 343 is ignoring THE largest thread on the HW2 forum.” Just because they haven’t responded to it doesn’t mean that they are ignoring it.

Most cut-scenes in HW1 felt redundant and/or something which could have been translated into the gameplay.
If I’m not mistaken, some 70-80% of the discspace was for cutscenes.
While we’ve gotten away from discs, somewhat, I’m still glad we did not get a bunch of cut-scenes we would not need. Resources spent on other things than artificially stuffing the campaign.
Gameplay wise I think the campaign was well rounded with many different things to do.
Sure, the story itself didn’t meet expectations, it could have been better. However, seeing as we’re getting story DLC on the banished side, A “Covenant story” which people have been asking for, and the Cutter vs Atriox video, it’s possible we’ll see more Campaign DLC in the future as well, from both sides. All with the feedback taken into account. Meaning they could improve over time. Wishful thinking? Yes, however possible.
20$ is for the campaign, two leaders and a new Firefight mode. Discount or not, I’m most likely buying it.

Five missions.
I think I said this in a different thread, or I may have said it here. $20 can buy me a whole Starcraft game (if I hadn’t already bought it for that price.) It’s mildly ridiculous, and slightly infuriating, that that same $20 will only buy me the equivalent of a quarter of a game.
That being said, I feel like I’m fanning a flame. Thing is, I’ll fan the flame all friggin day, that being said I’ll also be the first to try and put it out if the subject of said flame is trying to fix it. On that note, they don’t seem to be doing so, if the stuff about Grim getting snarky on reddit is the least bit true.

Five missions which could be worth it.
I hope you’ll excuse me, but at the time of any Starcraft launch, not a single one of them was 20$ or lower. Sure, LotV is 20$, but it is at this point a one and a half year old standalone expansion, which use quite a heavy amount of older assets, and from what I recall, was priced like a regular game, even if it wasn’t I’m pretty sure it wasn’t close to 20$, I’ll have to check my purchase history. Neither was WoL or HotS 20$ at their release. So I see no reason in comparing over year old Starcraft game’s current pricing, to a yet to be released HW2 Expansion price.
