ATN Not In Season Pass?

> It still baffles me how people think they are owed more, seriously I paid around 80$ so far and will pay 100$ by the end, I could spend that on one good night and be happy. I’ve had a couple of months of great play time, more than worth it. I love this game and want it to keep moving forward. If you actually like the game and want it to cotinue than support it don’t trash it.

How many times must we repeat this? The problem is NOT lack of value. The problem is, that the original description?advertising/marketing for the season pass explicitly stated CAMPAIGN EXPANSION. Then, before launch, without telling anyone, 343 changed it to “Campaign Missions” (the 2 mission spearbreaker one). Now, before they changed it, many players either already preordered wanting the expansion. Now, these players had no idea the expansion was REMOVED from the season pass. These players are now frustrated and confused as to why its not included as when they preordered, the advertising at the time said it would be.

If 343 gave us an update pre launch on the season pass telling us what has changed, to give those who preordered a chance to cancel if they did not like the new season pass (leaders only +2 missions) it would have been fine! But they didn’t! They did’nt even tell us there was going to be a MAJOR expansion to the campaign OUTSIDE of the season pass. This must be told to the consumer! Every season pass I know that has a major expansion outside of it (pretty much all of them include them anyway…) tell the consumer about it! Stop wavering the “entitled” rubbish around in an effort to skip the point in this thread and dismiss the criticism aimed at 343.

Next thing we know we will be called entitled for wanting a working game at launch, as I recall being called “entitled” when I was expecting a full Halo game at launch (Halo 5…) by the same noble forum defenders.

What I mean is that it appears in the future you will need to buy a game, the season pass, extra paid dlc, and microtransactions just to get the full game experience. Kids and teens spending their parents money will do it, but people who work and just play when they have time are going to walk away. When the full experience of a game begins to cost over $100 (some already do), some people will just find other hobbies. I haven’t seen a game yet that’s worth that kind of investment. Especially when new consoles are being rolled out on the same cycle as iphones and you’ll be forced to upgrade to play the best games. Sadly as long as people enable their behavior by saying “It’s only $20” it won’t change. Developers will just milk fewer players for more cash.

Yes precisely, its a slippery slope. Every game starts microtransactions the same way.

Step 1: Have an armour/weapon/skin set buyable for $$$. (e.g Halo 4 armour “DLC”…)
Step 2: Integrate microtransactions into the game in a way that very lightly effects gameplay so casuals won’t notice and instead support it (Halo 5 req system)
Step 3: Integrate microtransactions into a way where the gamemode is dependant on it (HW2 blitz mode-plenty of videos out there proving it is pay to win. Pay for more cards=higher levels cards=better unit).

That is using Halo as an analogy, but there are many other games we all play where we see a similar trend. The worst part of it is not the business practice oddly enough, it is those who defend such business practices because they somehow believe the company needs “more money”. Well boo hoo tell them to make a bettter game at launch and just maybe more people will buy it?

The word change means there is no longer a campaign expansion included, and instead we get the shorter 2 mission pack.

Is the season pass still good value? Yes! But as I stated in an above post, the problem is the changes that were made and the lack of clarity in terms of marketing/advertising leading to confusion and frustration at the announce of ATN. The problem isn’t value. Also, might as well clarify this here in case many others are still on this thread. The season pass stated “more than 6 months”. For some? That means 7. Others? 8,9,10 etc. We get the point right? It was too open ended. Again, all they had to do was clarify changes pre launch and set a rough roadmap in terms of season pass content, and tell us a major expansion was coming later thats not in the season pass. It is very simple really. All these passionate fans being upset does not happen for no reason after all.

Also, I read the conversation in the reddit link. What I want to know is: Why don’t they communicate at that same level on their OFFICIAL forums? I rarely ever see fan interaction of that level on here. I had no idea they did that (yes I have reddit, but I don’ follow Halo…thats what the official site is for…).

Precisely. Instead of focusing on making money off micro transactions, focus more on a great game. This will generate sales and keep a buzz about Halo. No one talks about it.

It is confusing isnt it? I do see “submit feedback” threads and such of course, but very little one-on-one interaction as seen on reddit. I understand one person can;t communicate through multiple mediums of communication, but as far as I know there is a team dedicated to this sort of thing.

The official statement on either reddit on here, if they think that is enough, then they’re kidding themselves surely. I don;t want to sound like a broken record but a simple paragraph on the season pass pre-launch in a Community Update (addressing a separate major expansion, explaining change to season pass) would have avoided all the problems and the need for a massive thread like this discussing it.

I was extremely ecstatic when I first saw the flood in the teaser, but then this issue came up. I must emphasise though, so we are clear and in case someone at 343 is reading this. The problem isnt that we are paying $20 seperately (or in the case of Australia…$49 Aud as the season pass was $49 Aud. $20 U.S = $26 AU…so something is wrong there), the problem is that we had no idea at all that a major expansion separate to the season pass was coming out, let alone being announced half way through the supposed 6-month period of the season pass. As well as the change that I described above. Again, broken record and all but I repeat this over and over again in the hopes someone at 343 is reading through this thread, and I want to make sure this is clear through all the other frustrated posts.

Nah I’ve been on this forum for years and can count the number of 343 responded threads I’ve seen/been a part of on one hand.

It’s checking a box for them more than anything while other games like Smite and Titanfall 2 have devs/managers frequently engaging the fanbase or responding on reddit. I know Frankie was on NeoGaf on and off and Josh Holmes went to Team Beyond when people wondered why the hell sprint was brought back and made infinite to boot.

I see other devs engage the community more in a few months than I’ve seen 343 over what 4-5 years?

Actually I did see Grimm responding on the Reddit Threads complaining about ATN and the lack of H3A and he was being really snarky and sarcastic like a real professional /s. Funny enough those comments of his are gone now though. What’s even more interesting is that his comments were getting downvoted go figure.

>
> They’re also not getting my money on their next game or DLC either at this rate. Halo MCC still being broken, Halo 5’s ad campaign, HW2’s rough launch, missing multiple target dates, not notifying their purchasers of product changes, not holding their end of the deal on the product purchases, etc. etc.

You didn’t already purchase it, as it is NOT and never will be included in the Season Pass. And the majority of people complaining who have already bought the SP will buy ATN.

My problem is i feel 343 lied to us fans… if they had told us more correctly about what comes on the season pass that we paid for exactly none of this would of matted. I would of happily paid for this new dlc without question and ive always wanted the flood to come back but im sorry i will not be buying this dlc… as much as i want to i just cant support this shady scam. I own every single halo game that had ever came out on xbox now I’ve just had enough. TIP: DONT LIE TO YOUR FANS BECAUSE WE MAKE YOU YOUR MONEY. BE MORE SPECIFIC IN WHAT YOU SAY WE WILL GET FOR WHAT WE PAY FOR AND WE WOULD SUPPORT YOU ALL THE WAY. now there just killing there hard work and reputation. Damn same.

Halo MCC still being broken, Halo 5’s ad campaign, HW2’s rough launch, missing multiple target dates, not notifying their purchasers of product changes, not holding their end of the deal on the product purchases, etc. etc.

Except the description explicitly stated that it offered the expansion. Changing it shows they were well aware of this.

I mean the MCC gave their reputation a pile driver along with Halo 5’s story just being abysmal as well…

They seriously need fan service here. The constant mistake is most likely taking a financial toll and now they need every dime, but they have to think of why they are in this position and fix mistakes before moving on. It doesn’t have to be huge. They can start with discounting ATN to season pass holders. HW2 is a small fan base and good starting point. From there move onto bigger fish H5 and then fine polish H6.

The thread needs to be locked.

People can’t seem to get the fact that things along the way changed and so the original DLC description had to be changed. Big deal, it happens. Could 343 have been a bit more specific or clear in the the season pass was going to include? Maybe? Does it matter or change your life? No.

Changed without notification. After people bought it.

How many times do we have to explain that?!

And the fact it originally said “campaign expansion” means they fully intended to include ATN in the pass, but they decided against it later, most likely because they knew they could milk more money out of us…

Being upset about them changing the wording is fine and justified.

But when they have said that ATN was never intended to be in the season pass and you say this that is you spreading lies, misinformation, and conspiracy theories. Don’t state it like it’s a fact man.

They say that, but 343 hasn’t exactly been known for telling the truth, either…

They’ve been working on this expansion probably since before the games release. The fact that the original pass said “campaign expansion” really does point to the fact that it was originally intended to be included.

Yes, I could be wrong, but really, look at the facts… They do not shine a good light on this situation at all.

I absolutely agree and pointed that out many times before.

How can you SELL A SEASON PASS to the people out there telling them about expansions and DLCs which are about to come, then release on this basis only a few leaders with a few unique abilities and then present all of a sudden a complete new expansion with a full new campaign which then IS NOT INCLUDED in the Season Pass??? JUST WOW! Did they decide to work on something like that over night??? Come on!

I think that this was intended. The minimum is that is misleading, dishonest and shady.

Dont get me wrong. I absolutely appreciate the effort and still the work which is put into this game, but this practice with the Season Pass and not included DLC?

You have explained it perfectly, my question is why you have let it bother you so much? It just boggles my mind that people let their jimmies get this rustled.

And I believe you are wrong about “campaign expansion”. There was been plenty of talk about “Operation Spearbreaker” which is, by definition, a campaign expansion that is coming and has been talked about and is included in the season pass. This does in no way mean or indicate that ATN was absolutely originally going to be apart of the season pass.

I bet you it was debated and considered to maybe be included but I bet, due to the price of the season pass, that ATN was cut from the season pass long before we even knew about the season pass because 343i new it would be too big of an expansion to include with the season pass at the price that the season pass was/is.

And yes part of that reason was because they realized it would cost much more then what the season pass price would cover therefore they removed it and decided to sell it on its own for business reasons. There is nothing wrong with that at all.

They are not milking money - you have complete and absolute control if you buy any of the content they produce. The game is completely playable without any of it. This type of argument defense has zero ground and is rather a cherry picking of words. The assumption that ATN would be included in the season pass is no more then that, an assumption. Just because people have made that assumption does not mean its right nor does it warrant the abuse being thrown at 343i.
