Bungie isn’t the parent company of 343i though? Bungie used to make Halo games, but they split away from Microsoft after Reach to make Destiny. 343i is a subsidiary of Microsoft and not Bungie.

They’re two unrelated companies aside from the fact that at some point they made Halo games.

That was also kind of my point, but when I get started on a tangent it’s difficult to form a proper train of thought. It just goes on and on and on.

I don’t really care if I’m going to have to pay for this content BUT lets gets some things out of the way before I commit to this:

  • 343 really needs to address the issues that still plague the game today. Xbox and PC both have serious play base issues because they haven’t corrected everything that needs to be corrected. - A major lesson was learned when 343 didn’t test out the game in dept before releasing it as shown by how many flaws were launched with the game. - Will this content have correct balancing, doubt it. Nothing they release seems to be balanced, and in some cases they haven’t gotten it right yet. - They need to prove this will be worth it with some kick -Yoink- missions in SpearHead or whatever it is called. If those missions are lacking cut screens or don’t complete the story I’m highly considering bailing from this game completely.
I’ve honestly stopped playing this game alot lately because of the un-addressed issues in match making. I’m so tired of waiting 10 minutes to match and then getting dodged.

Side note: They need to at some point come out with new maps. These should be free to everyone. Every single Halo games has come out with new maps. It’s about time this one does too.

I doubt anything will be balanced on release, almost nothing is. But I do know ATN will bring two new maps that are free for everyone.

A few weeks of play testing shouldn’t be too hard for a beast like 343 to accomplish… I’m sure they play tested Blitz to no end because it didn’t have many flaws at release, but deathmatch… I wonder why Blitz was so well done? $$$$

Uhhhh do you have any evidence at all to back up your claims? What flaws are you talking about that Deathmatch has and Blitz doesn’t. I don’t know of a single game that released balanced or became balanced afer 6 months.

I don’t think Blitz was well done at all, matter of opinion.

I don’t think Blitz was very well done honestly. You’ve got one side of the map with an advantage to the ridge and then the ridge itself with artillery. Then you’ve got the Blitz card levels themselves, only one map, etc. etc.

So first let me clarify, Blitz didn’t come with flaws like Canister Shells not working, overpowered units like JackRabbit rushing, leader powers that didn’t do what they were supposed to do, etc… I didn’t mean the gametype Blitz was perfect. A few hours of testing would have shown that these things didn’t work in deathmatch. What about the Locust in the death match. I’m sure they wouldn’t have released with the Locust as powerful as they were if they tested much. The beta was almost a year before the game released. Instead of running another beta before the game came out, they gave us a Blitz beta. I could go dig up the patch notes and you’d see what I mean. The poor guys on the PC were those worst of the bunch here. At this point PC bugs and DCs have caused most of that population to go away. This game just has a bad track record for releases, so I’m hoping they do us a solid and test, test, test before releasing this time.

I literally play this game to finish out the achievements and then move to another game.

Umm, Aside from the seasons pass argument, alot of your arguments aren’t supported, and I don’t see how they are how you say they are.
1: What issues plague the game, and how do those affect the playerbase and how is it that if those things are fixed that they will attract all those players from coming back? Halo Wars 2 pc was doomed from the start man, I mean, not so because I’m biased and I play Xbox, but it doesn’t look like its doing so well because plainly don’t like the whole simplistic direction and choose to play more complicated RTS’s like Starcraft.
2: What flaws do you speak of man! It seems they tested a good bit out to release considering that the game is, in my experience, much more accessible and balanced considering the fact that Banished is often considered OP and needs nerfing, than others say they are underpowered and need a buff. Which is it? Than there’s the cultured talk that says UNSC surpass banished in every way, yet there are still inconsistencies in these arguments. If there are arguments across the board than some people are clearly saying things that amount to nothing.
3: I ughm, ok than. Sergeant Forge was debatable a few months ago, Kinsano is heavily reliant on her leader powers which can be devastating but that’s if you keep your units in the fire for too long. Colony is in a fairly strange spot considering his new addition to the meta, but I wouldn’t call him by any means overpowered, and Johnson is overall underpowered in some people’s eyes but he’s a fantastic leader with use of Mech Overcharge and EMP blast, aswell as Johnson’s Healing node all incredibly useful if timed right, and isn’t that the center of any leader? Nobody unless proving me wrong is imbalanced because it’s possible to add new people to the roster without people’s notion that they are OP or UP just because they’re new and aren’t understood yet.
4: You are so right! It better be kick -Yoink- because than this whole season’s pass would be worthless to what passion was put into “Awakening the Nightmare”. If that -Yoink- prevails and our campaign sucks, let alone not resolving that Cliffhanger, I’m gonna be angry!

I didn’t think everything would be free from the pass, however I did expect this to be a part of it as I preordered the UE copy hoping to get my cool campaign bonuses, rather than a two mission add on. It’s stuff like this that I think the season pass should cover, not a bunch of stupid leaders.

I agree but the Leaders are fantastic! I’d say don’t buy the Season’s Pass if all you want is the campaign expansion, considering you’d probably get it a lot cheaper, if the Campaign expansion isn’t like $20. Just wait and see!

Yes the leaders are cool, I’m exaggerating the stupid part. And I didn’t only want the expansion not that you’re accusing me of anything. I bought the UE for HW:DE, and the DLC of HW2, if I knew that 343i would pull a move like this and change their wording to their benefit, I may have never invested into the UE. I just know now that 343i is not very trustworthy about things. (Please not I’m trying to keep friendly, so don’t read this thinking I’m angry at anyone other than 343i)

Very respectful! I tip my hat to you buddy! We’re all friendly here!
Anyway, I totally understand about the untrustworthy stuff, and the pulling of this move, and while I do think it was very shady, and relent those who persist to say “You got what you paid for”, very rudely mind you! Above all though, It’s an understandable subject and I’ve quit my arguments here. We are still going to get Operation Spearbreaker for Season’s pass and that should be good, otherwise it’d be unfitting for a “Dlc”. Lets hope to that!
(You can also read my previous posts if you don’t believe me. I was furious!)

That is COD WW2’s season pass description, and is what 343 should have done. The big question is, if this is the way the industry is headed, why on earth would anyone pay for a season pass anymore? They are saying “Pay us 50% more upfront and get really cool stuff, or possibly nothing much at all, we will decide later. Just pay us now though.”

At least they are upfront that may or not get stuff right away, but you are correct. That is also sketchy. It is a video game trend. Why make a fully complete game when they can just rush it for a fast buck and then make more with some DLC that comes with a patch. CoD did it, Ubisoft (don’t even get me started on The Division) but I am disappointed that 343i is following suit.

This entire situation and threat upsets me, but what I keeping telling myself “If this is what it takes to keep getting more Halo, I will pay”

Why do you think they’re doing it? Because they know at the end of the day no matter how wronged you feel you’ll pay for it and, if you’re that upset, you shouldn’t buy it or at least wait for the sale. I doubt it will be worth the $20 asking price anyway.

This game just has a bad track record for releases, so I’m hoping they do us a solid and test, test, test before releasing this time.

Again, you have no evidence to back up your claim. A few hours of testing would not have caught any of the balance issues you mentioned. Jackrabbit spam and Locust spam didn’t happen in a day. When I first played Blitz it was literally everyone using siphon Locust and cycling to get that card so I really don’t know what you are talking about. It’s fine to be upset or disappointed but to say that there was only play testing on Blitz is you making things up without evidence.

Edit: Wait, do canister shells really function different in Blitz. I fine this so hard to believe. Can someone confirm or deny?

It’s stuff like this that I think the season pass should cover, not a bunch of stupid leaders.

That’s great advice, except most of us have already had the season pass purchased for months now since we got it with the game.

Point is, it’s underhanded, and regardless of whether other companies have gotten away with it (very few, to my knowledge, if any to this level) it’s wrong.

My issue isn’t that I can’t afford it. The issue is that we shouldn’t be paying $20 when this DLC was never going to be a part of the season pass, yet they weren’t planning on making it apparently?

In my mind you can’t have it both ways. You either weren’t planning on making it which is a stretch since Halo Wars 2 has been out 4 months and this got announced so clearly they were planning on doing it. It isn’t something they just decided to slip out. They need to storyboard the campaign missions and program everything and code an entirely new faction and units into the game which isn’t something you do in 5 months or less (since it’s releasing in fall). They’ve likely been planning this for a while, probably since launch at least.

On the other hand they just never intended to include it which is the issue we’ve been debating about. We paid for a campaign expansion and the description of the season pass was changed after many of us bought it witbout us being informed. Now we get told that this is separate, was never intended to be included, but this wasn’t clearly communicated.

Yet here I see a bunch of people complaining about it while simultaneously saying they’re going to buy it. If someone you like kicks you in the balls do you say, “thank you sir may I have another?” No you tell them off so they know what they did was effed up.

Seriously, this.

Do I want the expansion content? Very much so.

But a stand must be taken, and as much as it pains me, I am refraining from getting the DLC.

You all can say you don’t like what they’re doing, but if you still get the expansion, then they won’t care. The only thing that speaks (unfortunately) is money.

If you really want to show 343/Microsoft that you do not approve of this situation, you need to not get the DLC.
