ATN Not In Season Pass?

Really $20 more I was expecting the campaign dlc with my season pass. A discount for season pass holders would be nice since I think 343 is in the wrong here.

The season pass does include campaign DLC. It will come in the form of Operation SPEARBREAKER and is scheduled to release in July.

Pretty blatant that 343 Industries doesn’t like when we bring up their bate and switch sales tactics, half promises and sometimes blatant lies. Even so, hopefully after enough people speak up about how they only bought the season pass under the understanding that they would be getting all the DLC they will rethink their strategy. Or hopefully someone can attempt to bring legal action against 343i. They don’t have to win, the point would be more of getting their shady business tactics publicized.

They did indeed address it. They pretty much said “We hear your concerns, but we’ll be needing that $20”. Walk into any gamestop and ask the average gamer what a season pass gets you. It’s an industry standard with few exceptions. What happened here is that 343 decided to change the definition of what a season pass actually is, and their definition is so vaguely worded that they can never be caught in a lie. I’m not a game developer, but knowing how long it takes them to make small changes in a game, it’s easy to assume that ATN was in development as the game was being released and season passes being sold. The deception is that they never whispered that there would be content released this soon that the season pass didn’t cover. They just raked in the season pass money and kept quiet. Why is it so hard for a developer to be transparent and honest? I’ve given them the benefit of the doubt for a long time, but I’m now resigned to the fact that this is just the type of company they are.

Its really being appreciated that new and awesome content is coming. But I would guess that 90% of the people bought to season pass to get exactly the campaign expansion which is now coming for extra money. Its not loosing the bad taste it has.

We all love Halo Wars 2 and Halo in general. But I think something has to be done to send a signal to the community. A discount for all Season Pass owners would be a signal which would feel right.

In my opinion they should give it away free to anyone who purchased the season pass before ATN was announced. I know it’s an old school idea, but I wish companies would figure out that you will always make more money in the long term by treating people right.

A discount is reasonable for the miscommunication, giving it away for free when it wasn’t ever planned to be in the season pass? That’s asking too much in this day and age.

Which consists of only 2 missions (wow), and focuses on a squad of ODSTs. That’s all we know about it.

I agree with this actually; I’m glad that 343 has publicly acknowledged the situation but it’s lip-service until something is done about it, and I do think a discount for Season Pass holders would be a good compromise.
As for the expansion ‘never being part of the season pass’, I’d say circumstantial evidence points to the contrary and members of 343 have been known to outright lie in the past, but I do agree that asking for it to be made free to season pass holders is unreasonable, especially considering the amount of content on offer.
As it stands, I’m uncomfortable with the consumer/developer relationship, but I see the response as a chance to make amends, and hopefully 343 will take the suggestion on board.

I’d prefer if they kept the expansion €20 but gave 2-4 maps free for everybody before it launches.

I feel like we are going in circles. The fact that they sold a season pass, while simultaneously developing dlc that they planned to exclude from the season pass but keeping it a secret, is the entire problem. If they had said up front “We will soon be releasing DLC that will not be included in the season pass”, how many people would have paid for the season pass? It’s impossible to say but I’d wager that a lot less people would have bought it. It’s deceptive and it’s a pattern for 343.

Much of this conversation I feel is the accumulation of constant frustration. MCC bothered us with all the glitches, Halo 5 seemed bare boned, lackluster campaign and a carrier for micro transactions. I feel like the covenant war games were a golden age and now we are thrust into a silver age. If you’ve been following since Combat Evolved, the multiple disappoints are starting to wear on our Mjolnir.

This^ Everyone knows since the whole season pass racket got started a season pass is all content released for the game in the year the game came out unless otherwise stated. We are still in year one and until now there was no mention of seperate purchasable content not included. At best, this was misleading and bad customer relations. At worst it’s a shady af money grab they failed to disclose in order to get all that season pass and blitz pack money. SMH WTF

Can’t say I’m surprised, another bait and switch by 343. I’ve been playing Halo since the very first on my original xbox so I’ve been around quite awhile and this was the final straw for me, I can honestly say 343 is really not looking out for the interest of halo as a series, or it’s fans. I have not bought halo wars 2 as I’ve been waiting for reviews of the game and what people here in the forum have said, this money grab they’ve just pulled has swayed me to not buy halo wars 2, it’s the 3rd game in a row 343 have failed to deliver on.

  1. The master chief collection, utter failure and still isn’t fixed 100%, still waiting on Bonnie Ross to keep her promise.
  2. Halo 5: 343’s chance at redemption, nope, they screwed it up with falsely advertising campaign, arguably worst sales numbers out of any halo, very low population numbers.
  3. Finally, halo wars 2, not only is the ultimate edition of the game about 100 bucks, but just a few months after release theyre already grabbing for money to an expansion to the CAMPAIGN, now you have to pay more money to get the whole story to the game, which is absurd, whats even more absurd is it isnt even included in the pass people bought shame on you 343, and you wonder why you’re losing fans. I can honestly say after 343 has (terribly) handled the last 3 games i will not be purchasing another halo, theyve lost what they cared about and are only out for the money, the facts speak for themselves.

Mm just wanted to bring up that 1.) 343i did so with ODST in the past, 2.) Ubisoft gave brand new games free with Unity (I got Far Cry 4 free), 3.) Bethesda gave their extra DLC, an entire land expansion with quests in addition to a settlement DLC, free with their original season pass because they did something similar to 343i.

We’ve certainly got precedent of it happening (even with 343i).

Edit: We’ve officially passed the Blitz feedback thread in posts that has been open since launch lol

I swear, just because the vast majority of other developers and publishers deliver all of the DLC with their season passes and that it’s a common expectation, they’re just looking for a reason to complain. I really wish people were logical /sarcasm.
>
> 343 didn’t mislead you. Omg you people whine if you have to pay a penny for anything. It was for the first 6 months of DLC which this is farther up than that. They aren’t scheming to steal your lunch money pal, you people got more than your money’s worth on DLC for your 20$ and you complain because you didn’t get basically an entire new campaign for free. If you trust them so little then you shouldn’t have bought the DLC and should’ve waited and only got the DLC you wanted. People saying “no they change the description of the season pass so they could steal from us” yeah okay I’m sure they did something illegal to get your 20$. Some of the halo community has to be one of the most unappreciative community’s out there. Even if it was all true and they “stole” from you then the best way to get back at them and make a statement is to not pay for the DLC and make them lose their money making it. Sitting their saying it was all some big plot to get your 20$ is as bad as the people who blame the government every time something bad happens to them. This conspiracy stuff around 343i is ridiculous.

Its not a conspiracy if its true, sorry if the truth bothers you.

I got the ultimate edition for the campaign DLC and Halo Wars: Defintive Edtion. It’s quite disappointing to know now, that this is DLC isn’t included. Especially because it was never mentioned that there would parts included and others not, nor the time period this season pass covers.

At least communicate things better. It would avoid the backlash and the distrust. Shame on you 343i
