Pretty blatant that 343 Industries doesn’t like when we bring up their bate and switch sales tactics, half promises and sometimes blatant lies. Even so, hopefully after enough people speak up about how they only bought the season pass under the understanding that they would be getting all the DLC they will rethink their strategy. Or hopefully someone can attempt to bring legal action against 343i. They don’t have to win, the point would be more of getting their shady business tactics publicized.

Every Halo player I’ve talked to who isn’t an avid Waypoint user (which seems to be the majority) has been shocked and quite upset that their purchase of the season pass or of the ultimate edition of Halo Wars 2 would not get them this new DLC. When the majority of purchasing customers are expecting one thing but getting another, the failure isn’t with the customers but with the company misleading their customers, whether they intended to or not.

Not once do they offer something to say their sorry for the confusion or create or outline a way for those who bought the season pass under false pretenses to be able to get a refund. Yes 343 Industries occasionally acknowledges their screw ups but they almost never do anything to make up for or fix things that they have screwed up. Heck, I’m still waiting on word from them about the next batch of fixes and features being added back to the MCC as was originally promised by Bonnie Ross in December of 2014.

> I am not saying MCC doesn’t need fixes, nor am I saying they have a perfect track record. I’ve been “outraged” just like every other Halo fan at things like MCC and the barebones release of Halo 5. Trust me, I’m not taking the side I am because of bias.

> But I do not believe this is an instance deserving of half the anger it’s causing. I read the description of the season pass when I purchased the Ultimate Edition and it specifically said that it covered 6 months of content. To me, that implied content existing beyond the season pass. No, it was not confirmed and could they have been more clear about it? Sure. But how many here could honestly say that they would have NOT purchased the Ultimate Edition if the pass said “There will be content after the 6 month timeframe that is not covered by the season pass.”

> Well, I think most reasonable people would say, “It depends what kind of content.” And that leads us to where we are now: It’s entirely up to you to determine whether or not ATN is worth it. To me, there’s plenty of value in there to justify the $20.00 price tag. That may just be me, though.
I agree with most of what you are saying but I have to defend the side of the “outrage” as we’re calling it. I agree that people SHOULD read the fine print of whatever they are buying or are signing up for. Hell retailer’s HATE me when they are trying to get me to sign up for a new credit card or when I have to accept terms and conditions because I stand there and read/scroll through the entire document before I accept/sign it. Whenever a new update appears on Xbox live and I have to once again accept the new terms and conditions it may take me between 45 minutes and hour to go through it all but I do it.
Realistically I probably represent less than 1% of people in that regard. I believe more people use to read terms and conditions of season passes back when it was a new concept but now that every game has a season pass (unfortunately… Needless to say I haven’t bought any new games in a while because of this) now days. Most people would be like “Hmm I loved all the extra story I got with my Witcher 3 season pass, I’ll get the season pass for Halo Wars 2 as well” without reading a thing about what is included or in this case, not included.
From a design viewpoint, one of the first things designer’s are taught is that most users are stupid. This is not meant as an insult but more of a joking fact teaching new designer’s that just because something tells a person how to use something, does not mean they will read or use it that way. For example, if you design a door to be pulled open but you find that the majority of people using said door try to push it open, there is an issue with your design, not with the people using the door. The point at which you must put a sign on the door that says"Pull", you have failed as a designer because that is another point that designers learn: Users don’t read.
Same applies to those who bought the Halo Wars DLC expecting to get an expanded story with the season pass purchase. In this case however one must also question whether or not 343 Industries knew this would happen and did it on purpose. It may be “legal” because they wrote out what is included in the season pass and for how long but if they knew people would still expect something different but proceeded anyway in order to cash in on people’s tendency not to read, that is an extremely unethical business practice.
