So my thread got removed because this is the “official one” apparently. I’m sick of these goddamned Monitors taking down my forum because my opinion wasn’t good enough.
Sorry OP. I needed to put this here because a certain Monitor keeps shutting down my forums for no good reason, and he/ she directed me here.
I’ve spent more money on completely broken games, I’m not complaining we’re still getting the 2 extra campaign missions, plus a whole new campaign, I’m down.

If you don’t want to purchase it then guess what; you don’t need to purchase it. People need to relax over this whole situation and be happy that they are creating this much content for a low population game. I’m personally excited for this and plan to purchase it.

When I purchased the Ultimate Edition I purchased leaders for multiplayer, updates for more than six months, Halo Wars DE and a campaign expansion. By detailing me what I would be purchasing and by accepting my purchase/money, 343i and I entered a contract that must be upheld (at least here in the United States). The deal that I and many others entered was for the campaign expansion, which by 343i’s own wording means the ATN expansion and not some two missions. I didn’t purchase the season pass under their newer description, I did so under the older description. In fact, I wasn’t even informed by message, email, phone call or anything that they had done so.

Agree. Your edit really homes in on the problem. This isn’t just about the ATN expansion. It’s about an escalating habit if deception and greed by 343. I bought an Xbone for MCC. Horribly frustrating Christmas day (and following Spring). No way they didn’t know about MCC’s issues, yet they sold it anyway (and still do). Month after month we were promised a fix by 343. I felt like I had been robbed. They advertised and sold a broken game. Then comes Halo 5. It released as a skeleton of a game with microtransactions. Every month we waited to get modes and features normally included in a Halo game at launch. Then packs begin to be cash only, not available via RP. Then comes HW2 with the same skeleton launch, microtransactions, and promised updates, Buy the season pass and you get stuff, except not this stuff, you have to pay for that. I don’t think 343/Microsoft even have a passion for Halo or any game at this point. It’s pure business and how they can milk every penny out of us that they can. I don’t mind paying for a working game, or a season pass. I do have a problem with buying broken games, being strung along with vague promises and outright lies, and having the definition of what I’ve bought changed after I bought it. People should hit them where it hurts. Stop feeding the greed.

Wait I thought all packs were always available via RP?
I get that some really like the game and will defend both it and 343’s actions, but come on anyone who bought the ultimate edition from the windows store got screwed and I don’t just mean the season pass. They went and re-released on steam and hurt the player base on the windows store. And you know what really makes me madder than anything they are going ahead with a flood themed expansion, but heaven forbid they let you play as them. I know no one will care, but the way 343 has handled this game has me done.I honestly regret buying the ultimate edition,I don’t plan on making a purchase from them again.
To those that just want to enjoy the game,I respect that and to those that think me and others are being cheap you are wrong and should think more on how your money is spent because clearly you have money to burn.
An expansion is what you see on the Witcher 3. Hours upon hours of gameplay and quality that truly adds to the experience. Though that is a bad example in reference to the halo wars 2 expansion because that was INCLUDED in the SEASON PASS for the game.
Sorry but I bought the season pass with 100% expectation that I wouldn’t need to spend further money on it. That’s the entire point, in fact I shouldn’t even need to read any terms or outlines because a season pass should include all the DLC excluding the microtransactions.
i was so hyped and then just as swiftly disappointed.

Where exactly did you get information on the length of ATN? I haven’t seen any info on the amount of missions or possible play time we’ll get out of it. For all we know it’s just another 2 missions because that’s what 343 considers an “expansion”.

Problem is this point isn’t valid as the majority of season passes provide all the content for the game I bought Infinite Warfare’s season pass. Guess what I get all tbe content. If I bought Battlefront’s Season Pass guess what I get all the content. Witcher 3 if I buy the expansion pass I get all the expansions.
Point being Halo Wars 2 is the outlier here. Season passes almost always grant the user all future content for the game and, even when they don’t, it’s typically more than a year and the DLC released is well after the games time (Blops and Blops 3’ zombies DLC).
People vehemently defending 343 because the wording of season pass is getting really worrisome because you support this dev so much that they’re taking advantage of this, you’re defending them, and next thing you know other devs will follow and suddenly we don’t get full inclusive passes anymore or we have to start reading them and checking the wording since people are now splitting hairs with the naming.
What do we only buy the mega uber complete pass now? But wait it doesn’t feature the deluxe content sold separately!
Do you people not understand how anti-consumer this practice is and you, as consumers, are supporting it? It’s on 343 to justify this to us, not you. If we’re successful we all benefit.
If you all buy into this we’re probably going to see the rise of completely sepearate passes which cover only certain DLCs and then a complete pass for real.
I just can’t wrap my head around how people can support a company that does this.

I purchased the Ultimate Edition fairly recently with the expectation of getting access to future Campaign DLC, because that is how the Season Pass was marketed when the game came out. It seems unprecedented for a AAA game to offer a Season Pass and still charge an additional fee for Expansion DLC, and since that’s essentially what is happening here. It 100% feels like a bait and switch, and even if that isn’t exactly the case the old phrase “perception is reality” comes to mind. A niche game like HW2 needs to be as accessible as possible to capture as broad a player base as it can…the cost-of-entry was already pretty high without The Flood expansion. It’s a fun game, but not $100-$120 fun, and I can’t justify spending MORE money on content I already thought I had access to. I LOVE the Halo franchise! I read the books, buy the comics, absorb all the content etc. and I want to play this DLC. You’d think they could have clarified all of this in a Waypoint Update with the amount of HW2 content they’ve been pushing the last few months…the fact they didn’t makes it look a) intentional, or b) that there wasn’t a clear gameplan to release DLC content. Both of which aren’t good!
Forza Horizon 3 Ultimate Edition and Forza Motorsport 7 Ultimate Edition don’t cover all DLC even though they’re £80. The HW2 season pass covering content for 6 months and more was a sign it might not cover all content. A season pass doesn’t always cover all DLC for a game, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t.
Borderlands 2’s season pass delivered more than originally promised but riots happened because it didn’t cover all content. This isn’t a new thing and it’s not going to stop.
Part of being a good consumer is being well informed and making good decisions, I don’t like the wording on these season passes and how you have to scan the words to find exactly what will come out but it’s not entirely the developers fault if somebody reads it and presumes things that aren’t stated. Going forward though 343 and other developers would be smart to outline clearly what will come out for a game.
The only Halo game with actual potential made by 343 and they make a move like this to grab some more money and milk the series from the fans. It is one thing to sell a DLC, but when you have a Season pass and Micro transactions and try to add even more DLC then you go way over the line.
Don’t think the Halo series will ever be even remotely close to what it was during the Bungie days. Been a Halo fan since pretty much the beginning and i don’t have any hope for 343 to improve anything.
Don’t know if i can bring myself to buy this DLC, i love the game and i haven’t liked a Halo game this much since Reach but this makes me very disappointed.

Difference being Forza Horizon 3 outlined, crystal clear, what was covered in the pass and how long it would run. It was also clearly labeled as a CAR PASS meaning you’d get a crapload of cars in it. Then they add fun new DLC like hot wheels to the game, but since the pass had run it’s course and everyone knew it had and coveres cars there isn’t much room to complain.
343 on the other hand gives us a vague window which is now being implied as more than half a year, but sell short of a whole year and the thing that isn’t included is a campaign expansion the likes of which we were promised, and then they changed the description as well as giving us a crapload of leaders as opposed to barely any campaign missions.
How is this the consumer’s fault the company is not being transparent? I can and do read the details for these things and I remember reading Halo Wars 2. They worded it to give tbe impression the game would be supported well after launch, but also so they could easily back out of a significant time investment if it wasn’t worth it.
It’s a load of bull and saying consumers should read more carefully and be educated (which is an issue I agree with on principal) is dodging the main issue. You cannot extract meaningful detail from what the description was, especially when it is written expressly to ensure it has multiple interpretations when we have people splitting hairs saying “two missions IS TECHNICALLY an expansion.”
People also seem to keep overlooking the fact that the Season Pass description says/said “more than 6 months”. Yet, for purely greedy reasons, they’re cutting a highly desired expansion from the pass, that is releasing just after 6 months…
Seriously, I don’t get how anyone is defending this.

People still complained, all you have to do is search and you’ll see lots of complaints.
That’s the thing though, they left the description so vague and open ended they could back out, I don’t like it all either, but I wasn’t expecting all DLC from a description that said 6 months and more which a lot of people here did, the “and more” being particularly vague. Is more 6 months and 1 day or 7, 8 or 9 months? I took it as 6 months and anything after would be a bonus. The campaign expansion thing would also give the impression you get a lot, but even 1 mission would still cover themselves, because using the term expansion was so vague.
They should have made it much clearer and it would have caused much less grief for everybody involved. They should make a statement on all of the controversy, I also think if they unveiled the 2 missions coming with the season pass first there wouldn’t be as much trouble. I guess somebody at Microsoft really wanted Halo content at E3 and decided to showcase the expansion.
I’d love to know when the description for the season pass was changed, I think when I was looking at the end of February it just said new campaign mission like it does now. If it was before the game launched, I don’t know what to think. Pre ordering digital games and DLC is something that should never be done.
Ok, I admit, I’m pretty much done arguing here, but I still have a question.
Apart from any campaign and flood expansion that we have coming up, to do with ‘Awakening the Nightmare’ and everything that goes with it, will Season pass owners still be going strong with any future campaign expansions after this one? Like, this isn’t all we’re getting, the flood mode, the two leaders (for some reason), and the campaign expansion, right? There’s going to be more in store for Season Pass Owners?
Why make someone a promise if you know you can’t keep it
halo 2 reference right there
but 343 have made promises to the community and half either been forgotten or broken
who agrees

Well the season pass says it covers about 6 months of content. So I have no clue, but doubt it.

LOL, Yes I just checked the Windows Store and actually it says “more than 6 months” !
And wait, I’m gonna check the definition of the word “Ultimate”
