At what point do you quit?

We all hate quitters, but at some point we all do it. Sometimes it’s because of a bad connection that makes it’s impossible to play. Or something came up and you couldn’t finish.

For me, it’s when the match is unwinnable. There was one swat match, we spent the whole game about 20 kills down. It gets to a point where it’s useless to keep going and just give up. The following swat match we won 50-12… you could tell that team just flat out gave up so I’m not the only one.

Or you could be doing warzone and down hundreds of points… especially when you get put on the team already losing by 300 points.

Sometimes you can turn it around… I’ve seen comebacks happen. But it’s usually rare. If it’s 4v4 and half your team quits and turns into 4v2 should you be banned for quitting too?

The only time I’ve quit a match was when real life intervened.

Well apparently you’re the better man… because once I’m down 15 kills… I pretty much quit.

Never quit even when I was 2k :25d down
Hate when everyone leaves, its 4v1 and you are suffering over a second of lag. I just stay and try to play hide & seek

Don’t feel bad, I’m a better man than most people. You would be surprised at how often the other team’s concentration waivers or you can see the pattern in their attacks and mount a comeback.

I have a lot of games and I’ve only ever purposely quit twice. I know I’d have a lot better stats if I only stayed in matches I was winning and going positive. I know we’re not pros here, but imagine watching any sporting event where the losing team regularly just quits and walks off. Would you watch it? Would you think, “Good for them”, or “Well that sucks. What a bunch of losers.”?

Not quitting is part of a larger, antiquated concept called “sportsmanship” that used to apply to all levels of play from peewee/little league on up. I will acknowledge the existence of “slaughter rules” and the like to lessen the bruising from a bad beating. And self respecting coaches didn’t keep their top players in and run up winning scores.

As long as players in online gaming are allowed to quit and cheat with impunity because it’s only a video game HCS and MLG will never achieve any level of legitimacy.

Never.

The only time I ever quit is when I can tell it’s going to be one of those matches where I repeatedly get screwed. For example: I’m thrown into a Warzone game where my team is down 600 points and I’m immediately spawn killed by a banshee. I’m out. Or a Swat game where I’m getting hit markers on their heads but they aren’t dying. Those types of games are where I say -Yoink- it and leave.

I rarely quit but when I do it’s because I’m so -yoink- ing frustrated with how I’m playing. I’m playing with my husband and when we’re arguing over competitive play i start doing poorly and it just escalates the frustration. Again I rarely quit but when I do it’s a whole combination of things.

I’ve quit a lot of games, but I’ve only quit Slayer games in team arena that are unevenly matched. I never quit games in Halo 2, 3, because the matchmaking system rarely matched up team unevenly. Halo 5 matchmaking is a joke.

Never. We live in a universe that doen’t always play fair and we need to accept that fact. Your going to win some and lose some, even the best players will lose from time to time. Of course real life emergencies are an exception to the rule those will always take precedence, but when your mom or wife cooks dinner for 6 every night and you start a Warzone game at 10 minutes of 6 that is on you! That does not count as a real life emergency it is your responsibility to be aware of any real world time restraints and not start a game you can’t finish.

Now the flip side of the issue is that it is ok to quit or stop playing a game altogether after having really frustrating matches, gut out the 4 vs 2 game or the crappy game of “Farmzone” then take Halo 5 right out of your xbox and play something else. This way you force the devs into putting more thought into crafting a better gaming experience. For me when Warzone turned into Farmzone it became such an unpleasant experience I stopped playing the game altogether. There are so many games out there and I play video games to have fun not to be pushed into my spawn and have the other team farm kills off us for 30 minutes!
