> Going forward, you will never see a Halo game coming out without a beta. [Master Chief Collection] was obviously painful for our fans and for us. But it won’t happen again
Well, i guess is a good idea. I don’t even know why they didn’t a big full scale beta for MCC. Maybe to hide it until E3? But they had no excuses for no releasing a beta from June to November.
They have announced that Halo 5 campaign will be coop - oriented (4-piece teams all the time - much like in last two Gears of War games), but unlike previous Halo games, it will lack split screen. Maybe we weren’t loud enough when split screen in Halo 4/H2A was partially unplayable mess, but that’s just bad game design - something unforgiven on this level.

> How is a broken or disabled coop Split Screen a bad game design?
They made major gameplay feature, and then they put a wall between it and players. If they wanted to somehow justify dropping split screen, they should make campaign epic, single-player experience (like Skyrim, or Far Cry 2/3/4 etc.). If they wanted to make it coop-oriented, then they shouldn’t drop the most natural option for people to experience it.
It’s matter of bad design - just like if some company released compact car, with just one seat.
And with their history of messing up split screen - they clearly aren’t learning. I like Halo 4 more than Halo 3, so I’m not some 343i-hater, but c’mon.

Considering the scale of MCC, getting a beta ready for it would have been a rediculous feat that would have eaten into what time they had left to get it shipped. The size of the download would have been a killer for most straight off the bat, then you wonder is it only multiplayer or would you include a campaign? Even if it’s only multiplayer, that’s still 5 game engines you need to download. Betas sound great in theory, but it’s a heck of a lot of planning.

But without the Beta :
The game was released to early and it was a mess at launch
They had to cover the mess with 300 post of apologies
Waypoint became a chaos of useless and complain posts
They had to found ways to fix the game fast since it was already shipped.
In conclusion, a big big amount of work here too, and negative reviews.
They released the game 1/2 week before for some people if I remember well, and the campaign was disabled. They should have done that for everyone who preordered, and that right after the E3. I’m sure it would have helped. And then, delay the launch of 1/2 months in order to fix the major issues. Yes some people would be upset like always, but at least the game would be shipped before xmas and would be fully operational.

What!?!?!?!?! I’m not sure you read this before you submitted it. Broken=bad game design. That is literally the definition. And i guess you are the only person in history to not play split screen and love it.

Or how about they just release a fully functional game. I know that sounds like a crazy idea these days. With the money they make on us there should be no other standard than a working game the day of launch. I have been with halo since day one and i have seen more major mistakes in the few years that 343 has been running it than the entire time bungie was in charge. You seem like a pretty tolerant person judging by the forgiving tone of your post but just wait. I was like that too. A 343 fanboy. You can look at my original posts. I was always the first one to be understanding. But when i finally saw the light and that they are just in it for the money and they don’t care about the fans thats when i changed my thoughts. Anyway good luck and thanks for reading!

And that’s what I m saying. With a beta and a delayed launch date the game would have been operational at launch. But delay the release date would have make everyone Q.Q as much as a broken game.

I would ask why Microsoft didn’t give them a long enough timeframe to work on the game rather than seemingly having it be a rush job to make it available for the holiday buying season, but I guess just assuming 343 are greedy -Yoinks!- only in it for the money is far more logical. Obviously. I mean, unreasonable schedules are things Microsoft totally didn’t impose on Bungie, so them doing the same to a studio they made and have total control over totally wouldn’t happen. Right? Should I also make a silly point about how 343 don’t care about the fans as well just to round out the outrage?
I think what she did was great, we know 99% of these forum people on here wouldn’t do what she did, as in actually apologize multiple times with good detailed explanations, that aren’t too long either. Good content in what she said, we’ll have to see if they stick to it, I have faith in 343. I’m happy they acknowledged it and learned.
