"at least the gameplay is good"

this game is getting completely torn apart by criticism about store pricing, progression lack of content, lack of customization, etc. how bout some gameplay issues too?

vehicle problems:
-ghost is too durable and kills too quickly for 4v4
-the banshee is wet tissue and fires nerf darts
-the scorpion has tedious handling issues
-the chopper can no longer ram and destroy vehicles, its signature feature
-vehicle status/health is poorly communicated through visuals

UI problems:
-custom game options are severely limited and broken
-lack of file share
-lack of pre and post-game lobbies
-long loading times, images failing to load, overall clunkyness
-no option to disable TAA

map/mode problems:
-behemoth is terrible for slayer
-launch site too large and unbalanced for slayer
-too many maps lack gravity lifts, teleporters, interactables and unique halo elements
-BTB vehicle spawns are randomized (why?) and far too infrequent

gamebreaking bugs:
-constant hitreg issues, melees failing to register
-poor netcode causing frequent desync
-frequent crashing on PC
-players attempting to rejoin a match after disconnecting will often be stuck waiting until the match is over, even if a slot is free
-BTB is currently unplayable
-controllers plugged into PCs have more aim assist than controllers plugged into consoles

physics problems:
-vehicles are unphased by explosions
-warthogs can no longer be flipped over by grenades
-explosion knockback is far too weak

weapon problems:
-ravager is severely underpowered
-gravity hammer range is inconsistent
-rocket launcher splash radius is inconsistent

misc issues:
-bot backfill sabotages slayer matches by feeding kills and contributing nothing to the team
-radar range is too small, something the community universally agrees upon
-no option to turn off crossplay in social
-challenge and double XP system encourages selfish gameplay habits and frustration at not getting the required mode

the game needs A LOT of work through and through.

You are right, gameplay should be the first thing wich should be optimized.

This the worst issue for me all the unbalanced weapons all of them have a ridiculous long range damage, the Disruptor and the Comando also are useless, there’s no weapon to counter a Sword and a Hammer before we have a one shot kill Shotgun, we don’t have variety weapons.

I agree with everything except nerfing the ghost.

It’s supposed to be tough and durable and your team may need to work together to take it down.

You can use the new emp weapons or grapplejack to help with this.

I’ve never been a fan of nerfing things unless they’re way too overpowered and game breaking.

The gameplay is awesome.

The rest of it (where needed) is fixable.

Although I agree that 343 have some work to do…

uhhh. i’m pretty sure i’ve gotten a ā€˜destroy vehicle by ramming it with your chopper’ badge before. unfortunately there isn’t a way to look at the ones you’ve earned so i can’t prove it. but i know ramming into another vehicle with it does at least a considerable amount of damage to the other vehicle. was it like a one-shot deal before and now it takes more?

these are all huge problems. half of the time i can’t get my match history to load, and sometimes while it’s loading. i get the offline status! so it tells me oops we can’t load that because you’re offline. ??? painful. i just wanted to clip a single thing from a previous match, why’s it gotta be like this? why can’t we have an option to ā€˜save game video to local disk’??

something else i hope happens is match selection filters. the more people are able to filter out modes they aren’t willing to play the objective of, the more people who get into the game modes they want will play the objective. i don’t understand why they think it’ll limit the amount of players in whatever modes, when there’s like a crazy amount of people playing at any one time?

this is the worst thing. i’ve been keeping a sketch pad by my computer so that when i get kicked, i can do something constructive while i listen to my friends in the group chat lol i’ve gotten more sketches done waiting to reconnect in the last few weeks than i have in the last few months when intending to draw

while i feel like these things could be fun/useful, there’s also the repulsor equipment that will knock back or flip a vehicle at close range, so i could see why they removed that. do you think both should be implemented though? i think it could be interesting but i’m not super invested in whether this changes myself

i have no opinion on whether crossplay is an issue (i genuinely don’t know what kind of issues are caused by that so i don’t want to weigh in) but these other things are absolutely an issue.

one of the things that’s bothered me since launch is that the bots will not use vehicles. at all. they won’t climb in like the marines do in campaign to assist you at the very least. i understand it’d be difficult to have the ai drive somewhere/wait for the ā€˜correct’ passengers (ex. one holding a flag, making sure one is in the gunner seat at least) but like. if there’s a bot nearby and you need a gunner for the hog? why can’t you have the ai hop in and shoot nearby enemies??

-the challenge system is definitely borked and promotes people refusing to play objectives. it’s worse in social but it cranked up noticeably in ranked when the HCS was going on with all those rank-based challenges. had people dropping out of matches completely screwing the two teammates that were left. was enjoying ranked matches until then because it was the one place people were more likely to play objective properly lol

Some of these issues stack on each other too. For example, I had a challenge to get kills with the disrupter.

The ttk with the disrupter is slower than most of the core weapons…which creates a disadvantage when pursuing the challenge.

Luckily I was doing this in team slayer which isn’t ranked - but I was still hurting the team picking up and using a weaker weapon. (And the shame of it is I kind of like the weapon…even though it isn’t very effective 1v1)

I don’t understand why everyone hates on the disruptor. I tend to get kills with it just fine + it has an aoe arcing damage thing. It allows for full auto without really any accuracy penalties and is super easy to use on ranges that are just outside the ARs range. If there’s an extra enemy next to the person you’re shooting you get ā€œbonus damageā€ too

Yeah…don’t get me wrong, because I don’t hate the weapon. It serves a purpose, and I like using it situationally.

However, as a straight-up 1v1 slayer, I was typically losing those battles unless my opponent was missing shots. Maybe I’m using it wrong, but the disrupter ttk makes it difficult to use as a primary slaying weapon.

So my point was more about how some weapon/challenges combos can work against the outcome of matches.

In the scheme of things, this isn’t the worst problem. Especially if challenges like this are being done in social game types and not ranked.

I never want to carry my playing liabilities over to ranked teams. Even though I play solo, my teammates shouldn’t be handicapped by my weapon choices. They should only be handicapped by incredibly shoddy play. :wink:

I hated it until someone told me it’s an automatic. What?!?! Game changer. I still don’t use it a whole lot but you can knock down shields pretty quick with it and it’s great at shorting out vehicles. I do love the chain lightning effect too, that’s fun.

IGN has a little page on it with tips and extra info on how it functions if anyone’s looking for more concrete info.

Auto really helps yeah, basically a somewhat less damage, but more range AR the way I use it.

yeah, the biggest problem for me is the poor hit detection. It makes the game unplayable.
