At least the content is free...

So many people don’t like Halo 5. But I try to look on the brighter side of things. Halo was an ok game…I think it could be better…but it isn’t horrible. One thing that proves that is the free content. Destiny makes you pay. Star Wars Battlefront makes you pay. At least Halo doesn’t.

Oh boy…
Be prepared for the onslaught of responses saying “it should’ve been there at launch!”

He knows what’s up right up there.

halo 5 is between good and great game for me.

Damn right I do Rickey.

Someone gave me a moldy sandwich to eat, but at least it was free, right? Not saying everything was bad since there were a lot of good things, but free doesn’t always mean it’s great.

The thing is alot of things they have added are literally things that should of been in at launch.

  1. Forge

You dont launch a new Halo game without forge. There has been a huge community built around forge and players who want to be able to begin map making immediately. I would go as far to say there are some players who spend most of there time on Forge making maps for the community and Custom games or just messing around. Having no forge at launch made alot of the less competitive seeking players feel left out. Lets not forget a big part of the community prefers to seek fun over competitive gameplay. I know all about how it needed to be fixed. But that in itself is not an excuse. They should of had it ready at launch.

  1. Community Playlists

Game modes like griffball and infection should of been at launch. The community has come to love these game modes and the fact they were not at launch forced players again to play more competitive driven game modes and or Warzone (which is pretty competitive) and warzone is there REQ pack money maker so it makes you wonder if they delayed these game modes to earn more REQ pack funds.

  1. Lack of Warzone Content

At launch there were only 3 maps. Maps that got really boring, really fast. To this day we have only gotten a few more maps. For a game like warzone you should easily have multiple maps to keep the gameplay fresh and to mix it up a little.

Conclusion

There should of been more content to justify a $60 video game. Even if the DLC is free the content received is pretty mediocre at best. I would of rather had everything we have now at launch and then perhaps paid DLC. It may not be a popular opinion but this amount of content at launch would of helped the game sell alot more copies and would of generally had alot bigger of a player base and a happier community.

Halo was on ‘okay’ game at launch. After the updates it has been a good game. It is a shame that some of the things were not in at launch but at least they are now. I’m just hoping 343 can continue to make the community happy with small updates such as playlist changes and rotations and maybe the introduction of more gamemodes (please). Hopefully in a bit more time it can be a great game, it certainly has the potential the base game is amazing, it’s just the content that has been provided that drags it down.

It’s not free. I paid 60 dollars for a Halo game and it’s still not complete. And no, I’m not the ones that need every single bit of content from every single previous Halo. But I’d at least like all the gametypes from the very first game that came out in 2001 to be included.

And you’ve taken even a glance at the forge team, you’d know they made the right choice in delaying it. Because they are gods.

Any time you have to justify something starting with “at least”, it can’t be all good.

That’s like the Mighty No. 9 dev saying “It’s better than nothing”.

I can understand the other things but forge dude even you got to admit that this forge is basically a mini dev kit.I was literally playing a map this morning that was a rust remake from mw2 and it looked like it was transfered from mw2 to halo 5.It needed to be delayed and now god french(Tom french the one with a marvelous beard) has been adding things people want since the launch of forge.

I’m not surprised that monthly content drops that regularly use recycled content can be free. For all the good, original stuff the updates have brought, they’ve been buoyed on content reused between updates and stuff from past games usually in the game at launch as new. Now, as with Forge, there are some legitimate reasons to keep things delayed to make them better. But then you wonder how much time was spent on armor variants that differ from base variants with as little as a line of white or some shapes plastered on it, an endless stream of emblems that many of which were base game emblems in the past, and remixes of maps already in the game.

Your opinion on quality may vary, of course, but if this is the best 343 had to offer from Halo 5’s DLC, I’m unimpressed.

I blame Ricky for Halo 5 not being complete at launch.

… is the worst cop-out in gaming.

people just dont stop complaining, they dont know how hard it is to make that stuff,i mean nobody works for free…

The game mechanics and balance is the best in Halo history. That is the most important IMO.

If making a Halo game is too hard for them, then they shouldn’t make Halo games.

Why keep using “free” to defend?

I didn’t get the game at launch…but when it comes to you saying: "It should’ve been there at launch…remember…Patience is a virtue.
