At first i was afraid...

I was petrified. When I read about Halo’s composer and his previous work, I thought that the should track was going to have a very “Anime” sound to out.

It’s difficult to describe, but the musical style for games from the East (Japan, Korea, etc) have a very different sound to them, and while Halo is enjoyed by many cultures, it’s musical style had always been decidedly Western.

But oh. My. Gods. The score for Osiris’ HALO drop into Kamchatka was one thing, and it was glorious. But to hear the classical “Halo Theme” for Blue Team’s insertion? I got chills. (They’re multiplyin’)

Even in the gameplay, the music is on-past with the scope and aesthetic of Halo. I am very much looking forward to both the game and the OST!

Not to be a jerk or anything but,

Just because someone in Japanese doesn’t mean they do anime or eastern sounding work ALL the time.

Other than that, I agree. The soundtrack is awesome from what I’ve heard so far.

ha

Your view on it seemed a bit biased. I mean really, just because he’s from Japan means he must make compose for anime, right? I checked into his past works, and it’s mainly Metal Gear Solid.

But I agree on the music, it sounds amazing. It has the classic sound with a new touch, it is quite enjoyable.

there is a reason why halo’s music is so iconic

just leaving this one here. it is VERY interesting.

Heh heh. “Petrified”. Petra. Heh heh.

Well, yes. Not quite anime, but “Japanese”.

It sounds worse than it is. There’s nothing wrong with Japanese video game music, it’s just - to me - not fitting for the vibe of Halo. Think the Halo Legends section with the Arbiter. For such a shift in cultural composition, it is usually a very difficult thing to do. It’s not that he has to compose that style of music, but (usually) the influence will be there nonetheless.

I was thus concerned that the score for Halo 5 would take a similar theme to that of MGS. While not something I would rail against (that would just be ignorant), it would be among my least favorite soundtracks, and might cut enjoyment of the game. Or disrupt it, at the very least. But such is not the case. The composer (I can’t remember his name) has done a wonderful job, and the soundtrack very much so fits the Halo Universe.

Did you already forget who composed “117”? (Kazuma Jinnouchi)

Fret not, the soundtrack is in good hands.

I litteraly has my eyes wet when seeing Chief meet up with Blue Team for the first time in years. The music gave me goosebumps.

I thought we were supposed to sing this post to the song in the title, but I didn’t realize it stopped after the first 3 words, when I was two lines in and began to struggle making sound like the song.

Dude, totally agree!! And have you heard this lil gem? It’s amazing, and it’s legit. So. Friggin. Pumped.

The music on the Kamchata drop was so epic, it reminded me of the Avengers though. I’ll mix the Avengers music with the Osiris cinematic and see what happens. And no words for the halo theme from BT video. Totally loved it.
