I’m starting to resent this system guys. I have all of my silver pack reqs maxed out, so I’m stuck grinding my butt off to open the gold packs. The only problem is I haven’t gotten anything I want yet! How long has the Halo 2 BR been out? Quite a good long while and I still haven’t gotten one. How silly is it that 343 makes a Halo 2 BR, an interesting new piece of content for the game, that is locked behind a stupid RNG generator.
I’m not trying to rant here I’m just feeling really defeated and upset right now. I keep unlocking the armor that I don’t want, I keep unlocking power weapon cards that I don’t want, how many times do I need to unlock a different paint job of the same armor? Don’t get me started on the ENDLESS loadout cards… they are seriously infinite and I roll my eyes whenever I grind hard to get req points and unlock a BR except this one has a silencer and it’s still not the Halo 2 BR.
The worst part is I’ve told others about my concern on XBL and their legitimate response was “Why don’t you buy a few packs so you have a better chance of getting what you want?”
This is not a helpful response to my issue because what will happen is I’ll unlock something I don’t want, like an emblem, except this time I’ll have spent 3 dollars on it.

Emblems aren’t a permanent unlock anymore, which is a good thing in my book. They can be included in the pack, but won’t take up a permanent unlock spot. Although I do hear your issue, I just wish I had a way to tell you on how to get your desired REQS faster. As I know I have friends still unlocking stuff they don’t want, but that is mostly because that comes from them not completing the prior packs.
I for one still wished they made Mythic status items unlockables, giving the best of both worlds in a way.

Thank you for the kind words anyway, friend. In the future Halo entries, I don’t mind a little bit of RNG but I think 343 needs to overhaul the system. I’m not saying scrap it, but something has to be done in order to keep players motivated.
The REQ system has had overwhelmingly negative impacts on nearly every aspect of Halo 5. But it’s made 343 a bunch of money, so they probably love it.

I agree, once you get the junk out of the way its a lot of fun opening the packs with the good stuff. I still have a few gold packs to open but I got my H2 BR at level 138 or so.

I was lucky got the H2 BR in my second gold pack. Still chasing that elusive Phaeton tho.
How else work tho ? I mean you could do it by Spartan rank but then all the good stuff will be locked behind a rank wall with no chance of getting a lucky pack, so the grind would still be immense.
I moved from silver to gold packs about 50 gold packs ago. I still have yet to unlock the H2 BR. It makes sense, statistically; seeing as how legendaries are in the same rarity pool. I still have a lot of Ultra Rares to unlock as well. I’d say I get a Legendary for every 8 Ultra Rares. I don’t expect to get the H2 BR for maybe a hundred more packs.
If they do away with the REQ system, what is your alternative for generating revenue for DLC? I don’t think they are gonna give it away, and I prefer this system over paid DLC that splinters the player base.

I just got my halo 2 BR yesterday and I’m level 143… it takes forever. It’s mythic, so unless you get lucky, don’t expect to get it until you’re nearly done with golds

sadly, this is what leads me to believe it is only going to continue in future titles
