At a severe disadvantage...

Short of HUGE amounts of practice (which I thought I was doing), how am I supposed to improve when I keep getting matched with vastly better players who single me out every game? How does it improve your game when you “pick on” the same player throughout a match? There is no honor or challenge in that. If I’m obviously not a threat to you, why hunt me down?

Just keep playing man, you will improve. I felt that way with Reach. You won’t always encounter it.

I doubt they are “hunting” you specifically.

You probably just put yourself in terrible positions.

LOL! Nobody is trying to single you out. The problem is that you are letting them kill you too easily. If you give me the chance to kill you, I’m going to do it. I’m not just going to let you go and give you a chance to win because you are “not a threat to me” as you say. Thats how you play Halo. You kill eachother. Just keep working, and you will get better, then in Halo 5, you can get other people to complain about how you apparently “pick on” them.

I know that’s the point of the game, but isn’t killing opponents obviously less-skilled than you um… not fun? Also, I seriously doubt that anyone will ever complain about me going after them.

Well there is one thing that can be certain: trueskill in this game is broken. I quit playing IS after I got a party of 4, and one of them had 60,000 kills and 20,000 deaths…

Try improving your awareness of your surroundings and learning new tricks for escape. When an average player is caught off guard or is team shotted they generally die but when someone like SnipeDown or Pistola gets caught off guard or gets team shotted they can do certain tricks they have developed to escape death. Watch a few pro gameplays and see how top players act in certain situations. Obviously, you can’t survive every battle but there are many different tricks to surviving with a disadvantage.

A good example is when I’m caught off guard and someone gets the first shot, I start crouch strafing. A lot of times this causes them to miss two or so shots, and I can still get the kill. Maybe there’s a certain trick jump you don’t know about that can get you to cover. Maybe you could have used a thruster pack to escape a few shots. Maybe you could have sat back and waited for the other player to challenge. Pulled a bait and switch, hell even a ninja. There’s a ton of different ways to give yourself the advantage.

None of this is going to work great without practice, but don’t just factor in nothing but aiming better and getting the first shot into your gameplay. (I’m not saying you do)

Think outside the box.

> I know that’s the point of the game, but isn’t killing opponents obviously less-skilled than you um… not fun? Also, I seriously doubt that anyone will ever complain about me going after them.

You’re right. We(Skilled players) hate killing players less skilled than us.

But guess what? Without a skill based rank system. We have to play against you guys.

> I know that’s the point of the game, but isn’t killing opponents obviously less-skilled than you um… not fun? Also, I seriously doubt that anyone will ever complain about me going after them.

Well what am I going to do in game besides killing them? Look at the skybox? Don’t worry, it may not seem like it now, but eventually you will be able to make some kids rage about how you were king the entire game and that they are avoiding you with the player review feature. It just takes a bit of time. This is why the game should have had a good skill matching system.

So you want us to… ignore you? When we see your GT in our sights we should just ignore you?

Maybe you should stop whining that you’re dying so much, and just keep playing. Try to get better. You’ll get there.

Maybe you’re just putting yourself in bad positions which makes you think they’re singling you out? Once 343 tightens up the true skill when ranks come out, I doubt you’ll be matching better players as often as you probably are now. Keep practicing though.

Try to find a team to play with, learn positioning, call outs and everything, of course you will be matched up with better players sometimes, and YES you will get better even if you will be match for match getting destroyed you will learn out of your mistakes, will try to aim better and everything, keep playing man.

By playing better people you will be better and if you know they are coming for you, set an ambush.

I’m confused.

I kill whoever I see that isn’t on my team as much as I can as long as I can until the timer runs out or the game score is reached. Call it no honor or w/e you want but it’s simply destruction of my enemies.

If you don’t like getting killed a lot perhaps you should slow down and play smart.

You don’t need to improve, 343 has given you the gimmicky tools you need. Try active camo, AA efficiency, ordinance priority in this game’s godawful Loadout system.

I’ve used just about every combination of weapons, armor abilities, you name it. I’m pretty good at some other games, so I can’t figure out what I’m not doing that I should be doing. One thing is possibly using the jetpack to kill. I’ve tried and tried, but I cannot figure out how players fly and kill someone in 1-2 shots. I find that extremely difficult to do, so I gave up on that tactic and stay on the ground. Any of you have pointers on making that easier?

The best advice is to play smart and not charge into areas like a madman. Thinking about where you are going and what you are doing before just charging in can greatly help. Also sticking near teammates is also a good thing to always do.

Watching gameplay on youtube could help you see how other players play on certain maps or survive in certain situations as well if you are more of a visual learner. Feel free to visit my youtube channel. Currently have 270+ Halo 4 matches uploaded from various playlists and stuff (PM me if you want link). I read all comments so if you have any questions I can help.

I wrote this in your other thread, but here you go:

Depends what it is your actually practicing!

Halo Reach was my first Halo game. After 13000 games I had an overall KD 0.45 and Matchmaking KD 0.43 (mostly Invasion and some Slayer).

When I got Halo 4 by the I reached SR130, I had an overall KD 0.57 and Slayer KD 0.63. I was then given the Halo 4 Guidebook and I learned about strafing, juking and some other stuff. My overall and SLayer KDs went up about 0.25 each but was still negative. Then,I discovered this channel by Halo4Tutor.

By applying what he taught about tips & tricks into my game play over time, I have gone from an overall negative KD to positive KD 1.26 and Slayer KD to 1.80 (was high as 2.01). There are other dudes out there with good tips & tricks too but, I found this one the one I liked best. His number one mantra is “play smart”.

The best practice is learning something from a video/book/friend and then applying it in game play…over time you’ll get it right. It does take time but, the effort will pay off. You know, going into every game, I don’t look at other players CSR, Career stats or anything. I just assume we are all equal and play my style (with room to adapt and change on the Battlefield when required).

Also, what I have done over the past 10 weeks or so, is after a particular game, if someone on my team or an opposing team had a big kill score or,got a ridiculous amount of kills with a particular weapon (having viewed the carnage report),I’ll got to Temporary Film files and save that game for review and watch what he/she did and then incorporate that into my game play.

Juts keep at it…don’t give up…things will work out!

What do you mean?

You will never improve if all you do is play against people worse than you. In fact you’ll probably get lazy and end up doing worse than before.

Point taken, but playing against vastly better players all the time prevents me from staying alive long enough to learn from the experience.
