When you get to 130, gaining commendations obviously doesn’t get you bonus xp.
What if I max every commendation at 130, then they raise the cap to 200 or something, won’t that mean that I would level faster later if you don’t do your commendations now?
its true but if you think about it
the problem is ranking to fast, doing that we run out of things to do and complain, so surely doing them now, will just give us more to do and give us a longer ranking experience

I think I know what you are asking, are you asking:
“If I max all of my commendations at 130, but SR cap gets raised to 150… Did I just waste Xp?”
If so, I think you will not get that xp. However, there isn’t much reason to fret. There isn’t any talk of the SR max level to be raised. As of now, we can assume that it will stay at 130 and that different types of leveling modes will be added. Like the Competitive Skill Rank system that is coming out in a few weeks.
I wouldn’t worry about it, I’m like you. I’m going to continue to work on commendations, the possibility of adding more SR ranks is probably way to far away to stop working on commendations.

Well my main though was that it is a waste of XP.
I want to do the commendations, mainly for the rarer rewards such as skins and things.
I just don’t want to max a big commendation with a bonus 10k and then never get that 10k.
Also, Why have the level cap at 130 when the Spartan Ops commendations alone takes you to 130?

experience is still tracked passed SR130, its counted toward your rank thats 9,000,000,000,000 to rank up next
so if they do raise level cap, anyting you get towards that “next rank” will still count
if you check on your profile, youll see how much experience youve earned for being passed 130
You don’t loose them, they’re just not needed.
Commendations may carry an XP bonus but their ultimate end is a “reward” in the form of an armour piece/permutation, emblem or stance.
