I was playing MCC with friends the other day and the topic of an honor-based mode we used to call “Base Battles” came up. The mode itself was relatively simple; each of us built a base on a map in forge and then attempted to hold it from the other players in the lobby. This mode was loosely based on the 1-Bomb Assault variants from Halo 3. Most notably was the 1-bomb assault on high ground, since it required coordination to either assault the base, or hold the fortress from attackers.
With this concept in mind, I realized that in Halo 5 there are no real asymmetric modes outside of Warzone Assault. I figured I would start up this topic to see if there was substantial community interest in the development and implementation of one-sided objective modes, such as assault and CTF as a social playlist in Halo 5. With the addition of extensive scripting, it would be possible to develop elaborate bases that could be assaulted/defended in a variety of ways as section of the map were changed via user input (i.e. opening/closing gates or doors) or as timed events (i.e. environmental changes such as mudslides, earthquakes, etc.).
I am mostly looking to open up a discussion about whether there is still community interest in such modes in the form of a Social BTB Asymmetric Objective playlist. Let me know what you think below.
