I have been been playing Halo since it came out (CE) and I am seriously devastated by how ridiculously abominable the multiplayer has become. Halo, H2, and even H3 were games I played religiously and defended to the death whenever someone bashed me for not playing COD. I don’t care if anyone says I’m beating a dead horse, this game is absolutely blasphemous to REAL Halo games and is on the same level of failure as Reach. I have been here since the beginning and have supported Bungie and had faith in 343i to do the right thing with H4, but after months of trying to make myself believe it’ll get better and just continuing playing, I’m finally finished with this sacrilege of a game. People can say “Oh just wait, they’ll fix it” but I don’t want it to have to be fixed, anything short of spectacular from this franchise is considered a total failure in my opinion. People can say “Well, it doesn’t need fixed, if you don’t like it, stop complaining and just don’t play it.” but then again those people aren’t true halo fans (no matter how long they claim to have been playing) and know deep down that they are just trying to ignore the difficult truth. I won’t even be buying Halo 5 if there isn’t a confirmed “in game” ranking system, as well as no CODesque loadout/abilities. I would rather just not play anymore and remember this franchise for what it was in it’s true form, the best competitive FPS in the history of video games, as well as being in the argument for best video game series in history (excluding anything after H3).

You are right for the most part, but in my opinion Halo 4 is even more of a failure than Reach.
I quit my 600th game today.
It’s to the point where I see someone using Prom Vision/Boltshot and I just quit, even if they’re on my team, we’re winning and I’m tearing it up at 15-2. I just refuse to be a part of these cheap gimmicks.
The scoreboard, progress of the game, nothing means anything to me anymore … other than how horrid this Fiesta Slayer nonsense. But 1,500 games later, I still find myself attempting to ‘enjoy’ this abomination.
Destiny … hurry. lol Like the OP, I’m really wishing I never played this game or Reach, and can remember Halo CE-3 as the best trilogy of all time.
I started detaching from Halo ever since Reach.
In Halo 3 I had Five Different accounts and my main one had over 5 Thousand games played.
Reach was Meh
Halo 4 (even though its aesthetically pleasing and the Campaign good) is a fail on the competitive side and they dont even have Campaign scoring WTF!

Let’s hope destiny has a competitive multiplayer…Yeah ı know they said there will be but ı hope it will be realy competitive and balanced and there will be no stupid elements like ordinance drops or kill-streak things…

So you came back to something that repulsed you over and over again?
For you sake of your mental health, trade in Halo and leave this forum.
I don’t mean to sound rude, but if sometimes affects you that badly, then leave it.
Life if too short, and you have too many glorious things to accomplish in your life to be depressed for a game.

Destiny is going to be more of a casual game than H4.

Destiny is a long way away, and will be a FPS casual MMO.
don’t torture yourself, play the excellent Tomb Raider, or Far Cry 3?

Well, MP isn’t dead.
There isn’t one playlist / style of play that you like?
If the game is causing you that much grief, then yes. You should stop. You should never let a game do that to you.
It is dead, the REAL MP is dead. I don’t mean to be rude but I’m not exactly confused on what has happened to Halo. There’s no need to try to patronize me or give me advice. I’m simply expressing my disgust with what has happened to Halo and as far as “you should stop playing it”, I’ve already stated that I’m not going to in the OP. A very irrelevant post.
this new halo is ok, in fact as a stand alone game I’d give it 9/10
as a halo game, it’s a 6/10, which is an abomination IMO for Halo
I don’t know, I actually enjoyed Reach and Halo 4 ._. Both games are pretty different from their predecessors, but I’m ok with that. Both games obviously have or had their issues, but a lot of people still enjoyed them, including some older players like myself. If you don’t take risks in future Halo games, then it would become a CoD-like game where it’s the same game with new skins and maybe a new gun or two.
I respect those that don’t like them though; that’s their opinion and they’re entitled to it. I can see why such massive changes could rub people the wrong way
How much of the decline is due to the changes that have been made and how much is due to the franchise being 12+ years old and people growing up and moving on? It’s an answer that we’ll never know. We can only assume the reasons as there is no way to prove any of them. I like to assume it’s due to the lack of a ranking system mixed with the franchise being OLD.
When Halo first came out I was 21. A lot in my life has changed since then. The same goes for a lot of the other veteran players. The new generation has latched on to different games like CoD which in time will also wear out it’s welcome regardless of what they do with it.

Very well said
I seriously don’t get all the Reach hate. At least many of the maps and roots of halo was still in Reach. Maybe you didn’t like Bloom (I did) or the no bleed through which is kind of up in the air for me. Not sure if I miss it or not but it was still a great halo game.
Especially when people say they hate Reach but are so excited for Destiny, which is a class-based shooter. Puzzles me there since Reach is essentially a “class-based” shooter so I have a feeling the flow of the game will be similar.
One of my friends is even convinced Reach took on the class system as almost the Beta for Bungie to be able to test and work on class-based shooters for Destiny lol. Sometimes I think he may be right.
> Halo games, then it would become a CoD-like game
Trying my hardest to hold it back, really am.
What risks did 343I take? All they did was imitate games that are popular at the moment, except it backfired and bit them in the -Yoink-.
There’s nothing risky about Halo 4, and many people WOULD be satisfied with the same game year after year.
I don’t get the hate for 343, they’re /trying/ and I for one LOVE Halo 4. Sure I hope they clean up the UI, add a ranking system to please the ranks crowd and to maybe give us a metric -Yoink- ton of custom games options to please the customs crowd. Campaign wise the game is frigging awesome and I can’t wait for Halo 5

Well I didn’t mean to offend ;
It was just my personal opinion. As for risks, I could care less what other games have, but incorporating unique (unique for Halo I mean) factors into the game is a risk in my honest opinion
Just try some other games, one will eventually fill this void of yours .

I can’t stop playing now, man. I’m just like you. A lot of us are. This is like someone taking a Porche and shaving it down until it looks like a toyota camry and runs worse. I play game after game with my dubs partner and teammate for 3 years, and I keep having to say “It’s alright, I know it’s -Yoink-, but it’s whatever. Calm down. We got this.” But we don’t. And never will as long as this game stays as the horrid random game devoid of skill that it currently is. And what’s more than that is that there is no incentive. No reason to play. No reason to get better. Not that I can even get through a game without wanted to quit out because of the monotonous and terrible gameplay. I’ve never felt that in a previous Halo game and that has nothing to do with my age, the way my life has changed, or my mindset then/now. It’s this game, and the ideals it pushes upon the players. I hate it. But I love this series too much to switch. Invested too much time and passion to give up on it. I’m stuck man.
