Assult Rifle and Commando Need Nerfing

They are way too strong and you have zero chance when you fight against 2 guys with autos. It’s almost instant kill and they are effective at every range. This needs to change before game comes out.

The AR has some wild range. It’s crazy that at a longer range the AR is usually more effective than the Sidekick.

Overall I don’t think it’s too bad though, if I get killed by it still feels fair most of the time.

Commando is an absolute beast of a weapon. It felt useless in the first flight and it’s arguably the best standard weapon pickup in the game now.

I’d give the Sidekick slightly better range as currently the BR and Commando wipe the floor with it, and while I think they should beat it most the time it would be nice if the Sidekick user had a small chance.

No, the AR is perfect as is.

Agreed. I think they could use a slight ttk nerf. As of now the AR renders a fair amount of the sandbox almost moot and the Commando makes map control too easy. You can barely take 4 steps before you’ve been mowed down by that thing.

Two guys with autos should wipe you out quickly. The game rewards teamwork. Are you really expecting that you will be able to 2v1 players at your same skill level? Don’t fight at a disadvantage.

What weapon were you using against them, and what range?

Spray and pray has no place in a competitive fps. Game should reward accuracy.

So don’t use it in a competitive FPS? It’s perfectly suited to casual play. Honestly if you’re going up against someone with good aim and a sidekick they have a decent chance against you. Actual tournaments likely won’t be using AR starts anyways.

I hope it isn’t in the competitive setting. But to say “I have an AR and have average aim, but this guy has a sidekick and they have good aim and they might beat me” doesn’t sound good to me.

You’re right in how what I said sounds. But honestly how wild is it that an assault rifle can get beat out by a pistol? It really depends on the player’s skill. The Sidekick has a really quick fire rate and from experience seems to be the sweaty weapon of choice on maps like Recharge. I’m below average and have definitely lost plenty to a player with good sidekick aim in CQB.

That’s the problem, that 2 guy don’t have to be as skilled as me. They don’t need any skill to use that because AR is way too easy to control and requires zero skill to get an instant kill.

I honestly like where the AR is right now. The Commando on the other hand is just ridiculous. You don’t even have time to react if your caught in it’s sights.

It doesn’t sound wild because it’s a video game.

I’m not a gun person IRL so really I don’t know what the point of reference is supposed to be here we’re aiming for. If the issue here is the AR is actually viable now in social play I don’t know what to tell you.

I’m afraid we’re going to have to agree to disagree. All the best to you.

The Halo community primarily plays social games, competitive games have no place here. I’m sick of everything always having to focus on competitive mode and making BR the meta of everything.

Most communities primarily play casual games, doesn’t mean none of them should be competitive.

And with this comment you are trying to tell me …?

Games should be balanced to allow for skillful competitive gameplay.

Personally, the commando doesn’t feel as strong as everyone says it is. Its recoil is pretty hard to control (at least for a console player) and even when I am fighting against it I come out on top. It is a great close-quarters gun though which feels weird saying because it resembles a dmr to me. The assault rifle is in a good state because it isn’t crazy at range. The AR could use a nerf to the damage range because the engagement should be closer than they are but other than that it seems balanced.

Aaah, in that case I repeat, people play mainly social games, social games do not have to have a perfect balance, much less base their meta on playing with BR.
