As it stands now a person has to do 40% damage to an opponent for it to count as an assist. Even if the DMR is not brought to a 4 shot kill one shot from the DMR should be able to count as an assist. I feel a more appropriate percentage would be 10% seeing how even if it isn’t much you still have helped your teammate get a kill. (10% is also not too low that one bullet from an AR could count as an assist)
Also the assist should still be in affect until their shields have fully recharged. Countless times I have shot someone and they get cleaned up maybe two seconds later and the assist doesn’t count yet their shields still haven’t come back up.
I am mostly complaining about this because compared to other halos assists are very few in this game. I personally could care less for getting credits for the assist because as of right now I do not feel that the way they are counted in Reach is an accurate representation of the reality.
Assist should be changed. I’m tired of turning a corner, shooting a guy in the head with my DMR, and getting the kill because my teammate took his shields down with his AR, and vice versa. It’s not fair to you or your teammates.

> yeah the halo 3 assist system is great. Gears 3’s as well.
Assists are overblown, or they were when I was playing the Beta, in Gears 3. Pretty much sneezing at a Locust got you an assist.
Yes technically shooting a guy once is assisting your teamates but it’s on the same boat as giving someone advice on how to lift a heavy object instead of actually assisting them.

if you barley shot a guy you got few points for the assist and if you shot the guy a lot you got lots of points. sounds fair doesnt it?
