if halo 4 does not have the assault rifle i will buy but im not gonna be happy at all i freaking hate the br no ofense its well designed and all but i dont like three round bursts i dont know why it just doesnt satisfy my trigger finger
I really hate the AR. If they reduced the auto-aim, it wouldn’t be as bad.
I hope they make the automatic commendation realistic in H4.
i want them to put it in but actually make it useful. In halo 3 at close range, the br would beat the ar which made no sense. they have to beef up the ar at close range so its not just that useless starting weapon
There is a gif in Enfinit’s thread that shows some low quality footage of a developer using an AR. It looks just like the Halo 3 model as far as I can tell.

A precision weapon should always have a faster max kill time than an automatic, it’s the extent of the bullet spread that determines how efficient the AR is at close range. A player who lands a perfect 4 shot should not lose to an AR though, at any range.

Relax, every halo so far had some version of the AR.

Well, they could bring back only SMGs like in Halo 2, but I highly doubt it.
I couldn’t play a Halo game with no AR. Halo 2 was a special case since it was pure awesome incarnate.
I don’t mean for Multiplayer, trust me, I hate sprayers. But I wouldn’t mind it for the Campaign.
Not to mention, we’ve already seen MC holding one with the new Halo 4 toys. Seems to be the one from Halo 3. So you’re in luck!
If the AR is back, it should be useful. In fact, I would dare say make it the utility weapon instead of the BR.

it beat it becuase of this think we in the real world like to call balance. yes the BR was better than the AR at close range, but that was only if you were actually skilled with the BR. an AR rusher would win a vast amount of battles if the person who was with the br couldnt shoot worth a crud or dodge the AR bullets which were always fallowed by a melee

It wasn’t hard to be skilled with the BR in Halo 3, and honestly, the majority of the time, the BR would win against an AR, or almost any non-power weapon. The BR, both in Halo 2 and 3, was not balanced but the only weapon a player really needed.
I like them both but yeah you need the ar in halo
The Reach AR is garbage. Personally, I want the AR to play like it did in Halo 3, where casual players could figure it out. Burst for a bit, then melee.
I hope it would be more like an ODST SMG rather than a close range niche weapon.

Didnt frankie say this game is going to have a huge sandbox of guns? I dont see why they wouldnt include the AR then
