Assault rifle too op??

I really like the test flight here are some things I noticed with weapons and MY opinions
-The ar was verrry strong, at bit too much range imo
-The br hit hard but seemed slower and under powered compared to past
-The commando was very nice to use commando > br it seemed
-Rocket sound effects are awesome and it hits fast
-Shockrifle was fun and powerful
things with gameplay,
radar was underwhelming,
sprint sucked,
warthog was very fast ,
mongoose speed nerfed,
I was unable to get any special -Yoink- or jugg kills lol
overall movement was much improved, grapple is very fun and has a lot of funny usees, I grappled a team mate that was mid grappling and I got launched across map lol.

big team map was ok , was hoping for a couple to try

multiplayer Maps were very fun

over all very crisp halo second flight worked better

needs more test flights forsure definitely not enough :stuck_out_tongue:

I think the assault rifle is in a good spot power wise, it has good range if you burst it but it’s not like you can just hold down the trigger and expect to win a long range engagement,
I commonly found myself getting out gunned by the sidekick and other precision weapons, i definetly think that if you are at a range that the assualt rifle user can just hold the trigger down and hit every round it should beat weapons like the battle rifle. The AR isn’t meant to be a worse gun then the precision weapons each weapon is meant to have it’s own place in the weapon sandbox.

other then that I agree with basically all of the other feed back you made, except I would ask what you mean by sprint sucked?

The thing with sprint is it has always received negative reactions from SOME SIDE of the fanbase, since Halo 4, or even Reach. Half of the fans would like there to be no sprint at all like Halo 1, 2, and 3. It can throw off competitive balance. On the other hand, the other half of the fans who typically play more modern shooters love sprint because, well, every other game has it. It feels unnatural to not have it there. This was even a huge argument when Reach was released, where sprint can be selected as only a temporary ability.

In Infinite it was added in probably the most perfect way possible: you can use it whenever, but it’s BARELY faster than just walking. And so far, it’s great. I hear most of the community loves it, the modern people can have the sensation of sprinting, and the veterans can have the more balanced gameplay.

The assault rifle requires you to pretty much unload your entire magazine to kill a fully shielded Spartan though. And I’m pretty much on the side of liking sprint and think it’s fine.

The games movement has increased it seems and the sprint seemed underwhelming, which is good I think. They added the slide tho(cod slide lol)which to be honest I didn’t get much time to practice and perform it well but I’ll say it definitely threw me off for some fights.

The warthog and ghost(the boost seemed to be infinite) were both very fast.

By the end of the flight I was in love with the AR.

I agree with your general impression of the UNSC weapons.

If sprint were to be any faster I think they would need to bring back the h5 shield mechanic.

That’s because the AR completely outclassed the sidekick in most of it’s effective range.

It is fun and sets a good precedent for casual play. The Sidekick still shreds it in the right range too, and is a great secondary instead of reloading.

I was getting a healthy amount of kills with both.

The AR is OP because all the other weapons are pathetically underpowered.

I have no problem with the current AR if it’s relegated to casual playlists.

There’s definitely a chance it will be one of the primary weapons in default ranked modes. I imagine it will be BR primary but the secondary is a toss up between Sidekick and AR.

Almost definitely won’t be in HCS modes so I’m fine with that.

This is Halo, not COD. TTK is already dangerously too low.

Sounds good. If the game launches with a ranked mode (HCS ranked mode) where it isn’t one of the starting weapons, I’ll be fine with that.

Sprint is fine, this is halo, not CoD or Apex, the point of sprint here is to allow you to slide and use the movement sandbox, not to straight up double your movement sprint.

AR is fine where it is at. (Period)

Commando is my favorite new weapon by far. At range it’s a lovely piece of destruction but I feel that what little auto aim it has is even reduced further in CQC battles? I find it more difficult to use in Arena vs BTB.

I personally think the Shock Rifle needs an upgrade. Out of every single weapon in the sandbox, this one has virtually no auto aim, what so ever.
