I’ve been watching a Walshy dual commentary and they talk about how overpowered the AR is. There have been many forums about this, but I really haven’t seen the assault rifle overpowered in at least my circle of play. Pretty much everyone runs magnums, if you run AR, a good team can cut you down before you get a burst off. What do other people think about the AR?
I have not had a problem with the AR. 90% of the time I will kill someone challenging me with a AR if I have a magnum or BR.
The people who you’re watching are probably just BR elitist who think the BR should dominate everything even more than it does. I guess they think the magnums OP too huh?
I love the AR, a very versatile weapon which is easy to use but impossible to master,
you CAN spray full auto but you’d only be hurting yourself
How is it overpowered?
It wins in close engagements against Magnum, BR, etc (unless perfects, hard and rare); gets beaten by any other full auto’s (SMG, Storm Rifle) at close range, and loses most medium engagements against anything else. It’s only decent at close - medium range.
It certainly isn’t a weapon that dominates at any range.

When you say the people who you watch are BR elitists are you taking about the ultimate trashtalking Overlord Walshy?
The AR is what it always should have been; a medium-range hipfire weapon you can depend on. Previously it was just too weak to be of any use but now its finally got some teeth.

While I agree the Assualt Rifle was previously useless, and it definitely grew the teeth it needed, it is seriously overpowered at range. Spray and pray from across the map can do near fatal damage. It should never land a shot at range, unfortunately this is not the case. Between the nuclear-powered SMG and the CE style pistol range of the Assault Rife, Halo 5 MP rewards the spray and pray far more than the headshot seeker. Sorry, just my opinion.

just machine gun need nerf
Pretty much anytime I get killed with the AR, it’s because they got the jump on me or I was missing my shots with the pistol. IMO the AR is fine.
I don’t really use it much, the storm Rifle is my auto of choice.

Arena, e.g., Colosseum–standing at rocket spawn point shooting down or across does serious damage; The Rig–shooting from plasma caster across catwalk does serious damage; The city map, cant remember name right now, standing at sniper shooting across to cafe can finish a low shielded person with one spray bullet.
I was using the AR to complete the comendation and id say my KDA halfed from when i was using the pistol. In no way is it over powered.
AR is in a pretty good spot right now. It is still the weakest gun the sandbox too as all the other weapons can still beat it inside its effective range. The BR and AR elitist players are the ones that have a hard time coping with the new AR as they think only one gun should dominate all the others. Hell I have talked to other players that think the BR should be the most powerful weapon as they think its intended to be the only gun that should be fun to play with. I’m glad 343i isn’t listening to those kinds of people.

So true people really need to get off the BR train and learn to adapt
