No, it’s ‘viable’. And it tends to not be viable in Halo games because it’s a spawn weapon. But it’s not dominating anything. Likely you’re being out gunned. Halo is an Arena Shooter type FPS where how you use a gun is more important than uber powerful guns you unlocked at lvl54.
More than likely they’re just using the AR better than you are using your weapon.
It’s like pretty much a mag dump TTK and it has a short-medium range. In BTB I automatically switch to the pistol. Until I get my BR and Commando combo going
Totally agree. Not only is its TTK just way too quick to begin with, it contests BR/Commando at Mid-long range because you can’t knock the AR out of scope. So you’re constantly being knocked out of scope as the BR user whilst the AR user is just shredding you with bursts way further than they should be able to, staying zoomed in. I know you made the AR this good to keep new players around, but damn, leave some for the rest of the weapon sandbox. I basically never drop the AR.
I agree! I specifically came to these forums to post the same thing! You shouldn’t be taking damage from the AR when they are half way across the map! It’s unbelievably over powered.
Makes playing Quick Play unbearable right now! Everyone is just spraying and then punching. No skill necessary.
That’s wrong the sidekick dies not outclass the AR…… the sidekick is an inconsistent bloom mess one minute it shreds the next it’s a pea shooter give me a break…
It’s absolutely too strong and there’s no way around it. Spray and pray was never supposed to be the core of Halo, social or not. It’s sad because the pistol is so much fun and has a higher skill ceiling than most weapons, but has to work way too hard against someone just spraying. Sure that moment where you get a perfect reversal feels fantastic, but the baseline amount of work necessary in comparison is ridiculous. Also if two AR users even graze you at the same time, even from afar, forget it.
A recent video from Aozolai reveals that the AR was actually nerfed of its damage output from how it was in the flights earlier if anyone did not notice. Instead of taking 14-17 shots to kill an enemy, now (since Nov 15) it takes 15-20 shots to kill an enemy, and that’s whether you land headshots or not.
I know it is going to be highly questionable whether this nerf is actually sufficient. 1-3 more shots for such a fast firing weapon with high spread that causes many of your shots to miss the target(s) anyway? How many players are able to notice this?
litterally nothing in the game is strong. Play any other FPS and you die after getting three tapped. With how long TTK is and how good movement is, if you’re halfway decent you can navigate away from a weapon that takes a bunch of body shots and a shot to the head to kill you.
I like the AR like it is , it’s not useless and it should be able to kill with less than a magazine, the TTK is good.
But they should buff the BR and the Commando which is really weak.
I think they should nerf a bit the pistol tho, like spread and/or damage falloff.
In general I would prefer a buff to weak weapons, and keep the AR like it is
The effective range of the AR is rather insane. The bloom instantly drops off if you release the trigger, so if you fire in two or three bursts, it’s essentially like being right up on the person… The damage can stay where it is if they just fix its range. Also, the sidekick got super nerfed since the flights… It’s 6 head shots to kill instead of 5, which makes its TTK significantly higher than the AR.
