I kind of like it, but if it’s not the main new AR look, then maybe a skin of sorts that changes the model. Personally I like Reach’s AR’s over the AR’s of Halo CE, 3, and 4, Reach gives the weapon a very modern look, and very modular, where the current design looks very plain and non customizable for the soldiers, It’s like the difference between the M16 A2, and the M16 A4, one has very little options when it came to customization, and limited to what armors could do, and the other has RIS up the wazoo, that not only gives you more customization, but does not limit parts to that weapon.
As far as the new BR, in Halo 3, they was prototypes being sent with FUD for field/combat testing, after all of the older BRs was issued out, and lost, the new BRs was put on the racks to keep supply on hand for boarding. A few months or so after the events of Halo 3, the new BR is moved out of the prototype phase, and into mass production.
Granted it does take time for new stuff to be issued to every single soldier, modern day military handles that issue. Spc Ops/Deployed soldiers get first dibs on new gear, then active duty combat units, motor units, then support, then reserves gets it. The UNSC Infinity was not only the flagship of the UNSC, but also a Spc Ops, element, so they get first dibs on new gear and weapons.
