As the title suggests, does anyone know the power of the new AR? Will it hold up against Precision Rifles? Is it more powerful then it was in past games?
It’s more powerful this time around and is well balanced.
It’s better for sure but still not worth my time when i can now choose to use other guns for starting weapons.
Will I pick up an AR on the ground if I see it for a backup gun? Sure
Will I deliberately use it as my starting loadout ever? hell no. (unless I am using the mod that gives you two starting weapons. I’d then use DMR / AR or BR / AR)
God I hope it is :O! I will NOT use another confetti shooter like Reach’s
PS: sad no one likes to say confetti shooters for the fake ARs… (reference from Halo books)
lol how ironic. I used to hate getting the game mode where you start out with the wimpy assault rifles but now I can start out with my favs like DMR and BR but the AR is fixed

The AR is insane. Watch the IGN live stream at the Complex Map part. Later in the match he pulls out an AR and destroys everyone.

From what I’ve seen it’s a very strong competitor against weapons like the BR and DMR. I’ve seen it dominate at close-med range. Heck, I’ve seen some use it at a fairly long distance and kill effectively with it. BR and DMR will struggle at close, BR will be a viable weapon at medium range, leaving the DMR at long range and to an extent medium range. I’ll be the judge of it once Tuesday rolls along. Can’t wait!

I’d agree with him if he said at close range, a DMR/BR always beats the AR in close range if the DMR/BR user had a clue what was going on.
Halo 4 changes that.
