ASSAULT RIFLE! beats BATTLE RIFLES!

It’ll be better to buff the BR and Commando. One of the only good things Number Company has done for the Halo franchise is make the Assault Rifle a viable weapon.

BR is fine as is imo but commando needs a buff for sure.
I’m not sure why they nerfed it in the first place. It still wasn’t great in the tech preview.

So in Halo Infinite the AR is the main social utility weapon instead of a precision choice, taking that role it should be effective at close-medium range while at least suppressive at longer ranges. Seems to me it fulfills that role just fine at the moment.

The BR is still by far the best choice for long range and medium+ and seeing it’s BR starts in ranked I really have no issue with the AR being a strong weapon in social game types.

There’s still a lot of balancing that needs to be done to the sandbox, but making the BR the utility weapon again is a terrible idea that makes gameplay very repetitive. No more utility weapons. The Assault Rifle should usually beat it up to medium range.

Yeah mate in social more of an audience that just starting to enjoy the game in my opinion tho it just slightly needs a little buff not much tho

The br and com are fine as they are buts if they went just AR specially In big tournaments it would be extremely boring

No the BR should take skill at close range to kill an AR user. No need to nerf it. The BR is great at med to long range and the sniper is for extreme range.

People calling for a nerf will ruin this game, because first the AR and the next thing you know it’ll be Halo 5 with all pistols and no reason to keep thr AR

a good niche isn’t “oh it’s close range so now I’m guaranteed to win” the AR’s niche was easy to use low damage output that required higher skill than just holding down RT.

so instead of a BR meta we get an AR meta, great.
problem not solved and now most of this game’s combat has no skill and it’s just running at each other full auto.

Shotguns work when this is taken to the extreme

But the shotgun isn’t a starter weapon, and unlike the AR isn’t very useful outside it’s intended range. The Infinite AR is a beast at close and medium range and requires no skill. ( even the shotgun required good positioning )

I haven’t come across anyone yet that skill with a weapon hasn’t decided the outcome of the fight. The AR is perfect as is. So is the BR and most of the other guns. The commando even is great if you work the trigger like a semi auto, but I still think it needs balanced because plain and simple, it is NOT a semi auto. It should be a functional full auto and right now its kinda meh. Right now weapons are balanced in such a way that it’s fun and engaging to play against and with players of all skill ranges. I don’t think they should listen to hardly any of the feedback I’ve been seeing at this point and let the current build simmer for a bit longer before trying to implement any balancing. What they have now is really close to being spot on. If they go listening to even a fraction of the ppl calling for nerfs and buffs, it’ll ruin this game pretty quick. I, for one, am not looking for another CoD type dev team where they introduce new metas monthly.

If I was in charge, the AR would absolutely shred health but do limited damage to shields. It plays into the golden triangle better that way.

If Halo isn’t a game where guns have an effective range, try to snipe someone with a shotgun. Hahaha

The assault rifle is fine, in fact they should revert its damage values to those it had during the flight. the slight nerf makes it less useful compared to the sidekick and got rid of the great starting weapon equilibrium (one weapon better for shorter-medium range w one weapon better for longer-medium range).

The Battle Rifle should lose to the AR at certain ranges, that just makes sense. It works from practically any range and it’s not particularly hard to track enemies with how large the BR bullet magnetism is in this. It already skews too close to “does everything well weapon,” so the BR doesn’t need more juice.

Assault rifle is fine.

Shotgun is lacking compared to older models, I’d almost rather an AR or a BR over it in cqb, it’s more like a blunderbuss. Its only really worth at very specific distances and in certain situations like when enemys group up and you have back up. Older models were a one shot to the face point blank, I’d take that model over almost anything, this just peppers the shield away. :sob:

Always re-inventing the wheel when NO! Stop it! The Wheel is fine! Just make it look cool again!

Do you know how to use a BR and live? I think you just suck at the game.

Like what is your malfunction?

How many times have you repeated a variation of this post through the thread, and how many times are you going to repeat it?

You’re just mad you’re being beaten by someone who has a more Run-and-Gun playstyle than you.

By this argument, the BR doesn’t have a good niche either. The implication of the anti-AR posts in this thread is that the BR should slay at all ranges, and BR using players are mad that a weapon they have dismissed is actually a potent threat to them at a range where they are disadvantaged.

It’s a nonsense argument anyway, on three points.

Firstly, you’re not “guaranteed to win” when using an AR.
Secondly, every weapon should have a niche that it fulfils within the sandbox. There shouldn’t be a Jack-of-all-Trades weapon that is good in every situation. The AR isn’t good in every situation.
Thirdly, the AR has not been an “easy to use, difficult to master” weapon. In previous instalments, it has been a weapon that is easy to use (i.e. low aiming skill) and has been far too weak to counterbalance that… It has other weaknesses, namely, it requires you to be good at other skills other than aiming.

As I said in the post you replied to:

Do you need me to condense that message down to fewer words for you?

As an additional point, if anything the BR has been too much of a mainstay and a JOAT. It deserves alteration and variation to balance it against the rest of the sandbox.
