Anyhow, nice shutting down a post because you lost an argument, just ignore this next bit unless your name rhymes with Snob

And when did I say “X isn’t a real game because it’s not what I like to play.” Did I say I dislike Candy Crush Saga? Did I say I dislike Bejeweled? And since when do we lump the fast and difficult actiony wild puzzleness of Tetris with the ‘do it at your own pace’ style of Candy Crush. E-books are not video games. The interactive mode is integral to video games and Ebooks but what defines one apart from the other is not simply making decisions, and paying for them, but coherently and actively controlling your experience beyond the nature of story defined by the author. In Assassin’s Creed if I want to Tbag an old lady, I can knock her down and do it. If I want to do it in a book, the author had to have written it within. You give me tools, then I’ll do whatever I want to out of whatever I can possibly think of is possible with them. This defines a game apart from something as simple as ‘read the chapter that you want to’ within literature. When you play a text adventure, you’re obeying the same rules as literature, not a videogame. While they are VIDEO, and they are INTERACTIVE, they might be at some basic level of semantics video-games, they are certainly not VIDEOGAMES. They were more precursors, than actual example of videogames. The first actual video game I would define as a videogame is either “Pong” or that device in the science laboratory that looks eerily like “Asteroids”.
Moving on It has long ago reached my attention that Smart Scope changes the mechanics of the game dramatically. The prime concern being the assault rifle.

So as it stands do you think the Assault rifle is overpowered, or underpowered, or perfect? Like the comment below that matches your opinion. Please do not vote twice, I want a genuine poll out of this, specifically out of the players who are still concerned with this forum. And if you feel so inclined, please leave a further comment about your experience using the assualt rifle personally, or playing against people wielding assault rifles that crafted your opinion.

Over Powered

Perfect

Underpowered

I thought it was Overpowered, but Smartscope had nothing to do that. It just did too much damage compared to the headshot weapons.

I found it somewhat overpowered - but not extremely so.

The biggest problem I found is how visually similar the Assault Rifle and SMG are - often I’d find myself get melted by an opponent, thinking that they had an Assault Rifle - only to find out in the killcam that they were using an SMG.

It has got to have somewhere near the same kill times as CoD’s assault rifles. Then 343 will perfect it.

I personally think it’s perfect. The only possible improvement I could think of is to remove it and the SMG’s headshot multiplier when not SS’d. Just to get rid of the RNG problem.

I thought that the assault rifle was almost perfect. The smart scope on it was useful in the first week of the beta when there was AR starts, as it allowed you to engage players that were using precision weapons more effectively and just gave you a better fighting chance.

However there was times when it felt like when I was using the smart scope on the AR and the opponent wasn’t that I would win the engagement, and vice versa. I don’t know if this was due to connection issues or to do with smart scope.

I think the smart scope is a nice and cool addition and the AR feels almost perfect.

About perfect. Almost.

It’s a rifle, rifles are for close AND medium range warfare. A close quarters only automatic is not a rifle, that’s an SMG, that’s what SMGs are for. Previous Halo ARs were oversized SMGs, with the exception of H4’s which tried to be better at range.

The Halo 5 AR can perform well up close, can do well at range with SS and a steady trigger finger and good aim. It is now what the Assault Rifle should ALWAYS have been, a jack of all trades and master of none. A weapon that when you spawn with it, you will not feel utterly defenseless and you will be able to defend yourself.

One definite change I would make is to remove the headshot damage modifier when not using SS. Keep the randomness down while keeping the modifier on when using SS so there is a reward to careful aim.

Perfect.
