Carbine is actually a type of Rifle or SMG, correct. That’s why I think it could be the plasma rifle, since we hadn’t heard anything about it yet. The AR is in, so I don’t think the SMG will be included as well.

Covenant weapons have usually had “Covenant,” “Plasma,” or something like that before the name. The Assault Rifle is a human weapon and Assault Carbine seems like it will be too. Just the word “Assault” leads me to believe that it will be human.
Still think it’s a mix between the Assault Rifle and the Carbine. Halo has only had a long-range auto weapon in ODST with the Silenced SMG.
It makes me think of the plasma repeater for some reason.

I think it is a human smg/carbine thing Kurt is holding in the picture every uses of him.
But it could be a Plasma rifle/repeater for all I know. I am very undecided on it.

i’m right there with you…plus the fact that they changed the name tells me something. I guess people were getting confused as to whether it was covenant or human
Can some one tell me the point in having the Ar and smg like carbine?

i hope there’s an smg replacement…smg was badass, always picked it up instead of the AR, was pretty deadly at close range
My money is on the MA5K from Ghosts of Onyx. I could be wrong, but my gut tells me it’s that weapon, and it’s the SMG’s replacement due to dual wielding being removed.
A carbine is a gun too long for a pistol, too short for a rifle.

This is what I am thinking of. It already has decent range. I am assuming they tightened the bloom/spread on it so it is more accurate.
I still primarily think of the MA5K.

just to give the player more options…they’re bringing back both the DMR and BR. Both of these will be more effective in certain situations, and if there are two types of assault rifle you would have to assume the same for them.

My money is on something between ODST’s SMG and Halo 3’s Covenant Carbine.

i thought they were implying, hinting at, maybe the SMG. Like a newer take on it but serving sort of the same purpose. I don’t think it is going to be a covenant weapon though. Like others are saying, the word ‘Carbine’ is sort of giving them a covenant bias.
