Counter Assassinations (Defense)
What if someone who is being assassinated could stop their attacker and assassinate them? When someone is being assassinated, the victim should be able to save themselves if they… hit certain buttons that pop up on the screen? While you’re being assassinated, a few buttons will quickly flash on your screen, and if you hit the buttons at the right time then you will stop your enemy from assassinating you and you will assassinate them. Assassinations seems as bad as tea-bagging to some people so there should be a way to keep your dignity. This will be pretty hard to do so that it will stop it from happening frequently (not really fair to stop someone from killing you when they get the drop on you like a ninja) but it’s good for stopping the enemy team from winning when they only need 1 kill.
Counter Assassinations (Offense)
What if you could stop an enemy from assassinating your teammate? Or what if someone could stop an enemy from assassinating you? If an enemy saves their friend from you when you try to assassinate them? Here’s how it would work: Player 1 is assassinating Player 2, Player 3 runs up to Player 1 (his enemy) and melees him; then, Player 3 would assassinate Player 1 and save his teammate (Player 2). Or, your teammate could steal your kill by assassinating your victim himself and stopping you from doing it (if he/she’s a jerk).
I hope you guys like these ideas even though they may be a little… far fetched.
I would like a counter-assassination, but assassinations in general are kind of stupid in Halo.
I think counter-assassinations would be kind of cool, however I don’t know how well it would work as a QTE. I like the assassinations in halo, they make me feel even more “Spartan” like. Also I think that as long as you can do a regular melee kill (like hold the button to skip the assassination animation, but tap it to do full assassination), it will still make the competitive crew happy since every ounce of time is important. Choices are always important, and I think halo has always had a lot of good choices. This is why I think it would be difficult (nice, but difficult) for a defensive assassination, because how do you balance the cinematic and experience with the competitive crowd? …But if I could answer this question then I could get paid the big bucks.
Also, unless I am mistaken, it is possible to offensively stop an enemy from assassinating a teammate - it is the showstopper medal.
The only way to counter it is if the lag gods interfere, or if one of your teammates does. I don’t want it to become a tiresome quicktime event introduced into gameplay, or let assassinations become as useless as the knife is in Battlefield 4.
any pro player will stick with the beat down/ back smack teqnuique so unless that ability is removed then i don’t see a need for counter-assasinations
No. If you were unaware and had your back turned, you should be punished.
Sorry, QTE in multiplayer don’t tickle my fancy. If anything, I would want it to be an action that simply prolongs the assassination, giving your teammates more time to save you. Maybe a simple “mash a like -Yoinking!- crazy” and it prolongs the animation.
I wish they would remove assassinations altogether. I can’t count the amount of times I accidentally held the assassination button too long for the animation and then got killed, or lost my shields because of it. They look cool but I could never just “tap” the assassination button fast enough by pass over the animation.
