Assassinations: Should They Return?

What do you guys think? Should assassinations return in Infinite or should 343 not include them this time? Let me know in the comments below.

I won’t to seem them return it’s a good way to humiliate the enemy and it looks cool.

Definitely! But, they should expand upon them too. Like, after you destroy a Hunter’s back armor plating, and damage the Hunter to the point where it’s near death, you should be able to assassinate it. Bungie actually had an idea for that back in Halo 3, so 343 should bring it back somehow.

That would be awesome but it would have to be balanced well because it could make Hunters to easy.

Hunter assassinations would be a great addition. It shouldn’t be ridiculous considering we can do it to a Warden Eternal which is much larger.

I hope they make a comeback in Infinite. Though I hope there is an option to perform 1st perform animations instead of 3rd person.

Absolutely and they should be expanded upon as well. Love the idea of the AI assassinations and i assume that both will be kept. I even threw out the idea that given the grapple hook inclusion IF two Spartans were to meet mid air could open up yet another series of assassination types.

Two Spartans meet mid air starts a random selection of buttons while introducing a third person view. Whomever gets there random set of buttons pressed eventually pulls a knife out, sinks it into their adversary and lands on their body. Loser dies, winner has shields popped from the fall but lives to fight another day. Could even introduce a selection of assassination types for said event

I wouldn’t mind seeing assassinations returning, maybe not as overwhelming as Halo 5’s; I don’t really see players get excited when they unlock an assassination animation that they would rarely use.
Not sure how much effort is put into assassination animations though.

I personally disagree. I loved unlocking a new assassination and trying it out. Now if we were to talk about the 200+ armor variations then I would agree 100%. Having the assassinations gives the player another layer of identity while giving that boom factor to your opponent. I can see how some who are more expeditious in their approach turn off assassinations as it puts you into a locked move set which can open you up to becoming killed but I still love them.

If i can turn it off to kill faster from behind I want it to return. It’s very nice killing someone while he is in assassination.

Yeah I don’t see why not. Can just disable them if you don’t like them.

Hopefully they do return. They feel satisfying to perform. They should add the option to change your assassination while you’re in a match.

Sure, I think they should return. I have enjoyed them since Halo: Reach, and Halo 5 had many more assassinations to choose from. Another great feature was the ability to turn them off which I used when playing competitively.

That’s got issues in the campaign, at least for Halo 5. If you turn it off, you can’t assassinate Knights, which means you have to deplete all of their health. They’re basically bullet sponges at that point.

Now, for multiplayer, I think it should go because it has issues with gameplay flow. Plus if I hold the melee button for 0.2 seconds longer than I should, I get locked into animations I can’t cancel instead of smacking the guy across the back like I intended to. I personally think it should be taken out, especially if we’re going to have Season Passes for this game.

I’m down 100% for assassinations. Lawn Dart and Supernova especially, they’re my favorites.

I love assassinations. I want them to return.

I was thinking more for mp, didn’t know that was a thing for campaign. Maybe have separate setting for campaign so you can keep them on in campaign and then keep them off in mp so you don’t have to keep changing your settings switching between mp and sp and accidently assassinating in mp when you don’t want to.

I would like to see them return in Infinite. Every Halo since Reach had them and I see no reason to just throw them away. Also, they might be able to boost the M rating of the game

Absolutely. They’re a fantastic part of the franchise. And I hope, like Halo 5, they give players the option to not use them if they so wish.

Maybe be able to plant a grenade in a hunter like in forward unto dawn
