Halo 5’s assassinations were honestly the peak of it. New animations every update, different types depending on your weapon using or where you stand. Its so satisfying to complete and some were so gruesome, it didn’t even matter if you can turn it off or not. It pains me to see that MW2, another pure gun shooter, adds finishers that trigger the way Halo assassinations do, and we got ours taken out. Its also a loss of a medal. They really got rid of a great cosmetic that many fps other fps games still have.
On a side note, in the video, I think Halo 5 armor isn’t ugly. Some of those look really great for Spartan IVs.
EDIT: There are so many medals in Halo Infinite, that its pretty unique to see in your reputation that you have a more rare medal than others. Such as “Ninja” medal, “Quigly” medal, “Combat Evolved” medal. These things are not only unnecessary mechanics, situational or just luck, they are also unique medals and are called out in the kill feed as well. “Assassination” medal can also be a rare medal and be called out in the kill feed while still be expanded upon in customization.
Nah, for me they were always one of those ‘form over function’ kind of things, I for one greatly appreciate Infinite’s guaranteed melee kills from the back, so exactly what assassinations gave, buuuut they tooook soooo loooog whyyyyy??
They were EXACTLY form over function, which is why they were just a fancy animation stapled to the 1 hit back taps that every Halo has had. All Infinite did was remove the content, I’m pretty sure they even had a switch to turn them off completely in 5 to avoid accidentally triggering them. They should definitely come back, the reason given felt disingenuous to cover for lack of resources.
tho i still think a good idea would be a setting to where you can have assassinations on or off. kind of like how ranked was in halo 5 (if my memory serves me correct), cept you can have it off for whatever game mode you’re playing
supernova’s the best in both style and TTK imo. longest animation, but if I’m right, shortest time to kill (again, if my memory serves me right, as soon as the sticky hits your back, the game counts you as dead)
They gave a humiliation medal for succeeding. Kind of like why even perform a Ninja medal in infinite if it requires a special situation and some mechanics? It gives the same meaning.
I know I am in the minority here, but I couldn’t care less about assassinations. They were cool until I was killed whilst performing them or my teammates stole the kill. I turned them off and never looked back. Back smack is the OG halo anyways.
Essentially they weren’t worth it as most people turned them off.
They did say they were looking into how to make them work in the game. And I imagine they would then have store potential.
But obviously a low priority at the moment.
And yes. People will respond “but I loved them and used them all the time”. I did too. And loved yoinking someone’s kill. But the fact is, we were in the minority.
there are a lot off assassinations to choose out so to tell what for one is the best is pointless since we all have or favoriete we like to use the most.
I did say imo (in my opinion) at the end of that. for a while there was that one assassination where you essentially be John Cena and slam someone on the ground that I found was the best. then after that the best turned to that one where you sweep there legs and stab there back. but again, IMO. I know Supernova is one of the trashier ones

I know that. I don’t understand how anyone could accidentally perform an assassination though? Battlefield, Call of Duty implemented them and people do them when they could.
My favourite version in Infinite is to pop a shot into anyone being repulsed off the edge. Turns someone’s “mind the gap” into an easy +1 in my ledger.
