This is just a minor aesthetic detail, but I’ve been watching quite a few old machinimas (machinimae?) recently, and it was something I really noticed.
What I’m talking about is the way assassinations are animated. There’s quite a difference between Reach and 4. Watch this and this for comparison. (Sorry about the non-english one, it was the most comprehensive vid I could find.)
I noticed that in Reach, the player being assassinated acts a bit like a ragdoll, going all limp and just taking it. However in 4, there’s a lot more resistance, with hands clutching at the knife, trying to push the enemy away (particularly in the tackle one) and all that. I was just wondering which one people liked better.
As a side note, what other sorts of assassinations would you like to see? Mine is more weapon-specifics. The Sword, Ball, Flag and Floodsassinations are great, and I would love to see a pistol, hammer or grenade assassination.
