There’s nothing worse than trying to assassinate someone, only for a teammate to kill that player. If an opponent is getting assassinated, they should be unable to take damage from anyone else. I am tired trying to get revenge on an opponent just for a teammate who wants one more kill to get credit for it. If 343 would please changes this it would be much appreciated.
I never do this purposely, but it happens.
It’s annoying and a d**k move, but if it’s the worst thing to happen to me in a match I’m doing great. lol. In all seriousness for the opposing team, when a teammate is being assassinated, it’s very useful for them to be able to kill the one doing the assassination to save the teammate. I guess on a coding level it would be too difficult to separate the two.
Never on purpose

There’s nothing worse than having a teammate performing an unnecessary animation in a middle of a competitive match. They’re risking both getting killed and losing the assassination, when they could have just quickly meleed the enemy on the back and continued fighting.

I do it in Firefight when, AND ONLY WHEN, someone is assassinating something in the middle of a massive group of enemies for 2 reasons:
1: No time for fancy stuff when you are surrounded by enemies.
2: They may have entered the animation accidently(Happens to me at times)
However, in regular Warzone and when the assassination is being done in Firefight where there is no threats around them, I just like to look =)
After all, assassinating something feels GOOD =) You really get that “Come here you -Yoink-!” feeling when you get it done.

Ehh, for those people who find the animations unnecessary you can simply turn it off.
I agree, it really pisses me off. Some people say they do it because you put yourself at risk by doing the drawn out animation. But since when was how someone else plays the game up to you?
Someone on here had a good idea, the kill should be credited to you as soon as you initiate the animation, and if someone yoinks you they would only get an assist.
It frustrates me sometimes as well, although they never seem to do it on purpose, so I usually let it slide.
If you don’t want people taking your assassinations, then don’t go for assassinations. Do normal beat downs.

I don’t yoink intentionally unless I get yoinked first, however if you don’t see someone enter the animation it can get confusing as to who is assassinating who.
I accidentally yoinked a teammate yesterday…its been a while since I’ve done that. But every so often that tunnel-vision kicks in when focusing on the enemy. I think the OP suggestion of having some kind of lockout for teammates (once the assassination starts) would be helpful.

The assassinations get me killed. I’ll tap the melee for a get in get out beatdown and still assassinate. I know you can toggle them off, but I like the option.
And people even “jacksassinate” - (10/10 new word) in firefight like you need a tiny 50 point boost that bad?
I’ll be honest…I’ve gotten burned so many times, I do this on purpose sometimes.
Most times though, I get way too wild shooting and my aim becomes like Terminator T-1000 good while my teammate is loading their assassination animation, and I’ll head shot the opponent. Like…dam, way to go aim.
I hate assassinations in Halo 5…

Especially from a distance, hard to tell, went back to better safe than sorry. Plus some of the assassinations are too cartoony. I thought the guy was tickling me, instead of assassinating me.
I find this so annoying. Whenever I see someone get assassinated by a teammate I leave them alone if I can get in the mindset fast enough.
Then turn off your assassinations. They are cool, but they leave you vulnerable and people steal your kills.
Had some many assassinating times and people keep taking the kill as usual when I am doing the work and earned it.
