Assassination Ideas

Assassinations, introduced in Halo: Reach, have now been a norm in Halo multiplayer for years. Whether you’re plunging your knife into a jackal, snapping an elite’s neck or breaking a Spartan’s spine on your knee, we can all agree that Assassinations are very satisfying not to mention badass. Do you have any ideas for assassinations for Halo Infinite?
If you could assassinate a Hunter, how would you want it done?

Unless we get some mortal Kombat fatality style assassinations with hearts being ripped out, I can’t think of anything new.

As amazing as that would be, idk if that would happen with the game’s current rating. I think it’s teen? But that would be amazing. I’d love to see a Scorpion “Get Over Here” style assassination using the grappleshot.

Yes. Make them optional because they sometimes get in the way as I accidentally trigger it. They can also stop the flow of play. I thought some of the Halo 5 assassinations were amazing, but they all looked ridiculous without blood, it was like watching Power Rangers fighting on kids tv.

So, Assassinations are fine, being optional is preferred, blood is a must.

Pretty sure they are optional. I have them turned off for Halo 5. Takes too long. Quick back smack is enough for me.
I do agree though, the lack of blood or VFX does look a bit silly. For something so brutal as a knife puncturing Spartan armour you’d assume there’d be some blessed haha.

I think a assassination animation with the grapple hook could be really cool. Still trigger it with a standard melee - just the animation plays if you have the equipment equip.
Hook a Spartan, pull them to the ground and give them a quick knifing. Something like that would be awesome to see

The animations from Reach were perfectly fine and executed.
You saw the knife, where it came from, where it stabs and where it would return ones the work is done.

Nearly all Halo 5 animations are just power ranger and should look good, lacking in realism and the feeling that they are actually good. Fine maybe for someone who never played an Halo title before.

For Hunter, I would like it to be like hijacking a vehicle, but you have to be really quick by placing a grenade or stabing him to death, but for knive assasination on hunter you have to be even quicker, or he punches you away. Almost every assasinations in reach were awesome and practical, because a lot of halo 5 assasinations were unpractical/didnt make sense, but they atleast looked cool. I would love to see assasination sistem that depends on which weapon you have, like in halo reach, where was a different assasination if you had a sword.

Literally just need every MMA finisher move ever done

If I have an energy sword, I want to split someone in half Kung Lao style

Did Reach have blood in it’s assassinations?

I’m not tooooo sure to be honest.

It would be a cool grappling hook assassination if you could grapple them and slam them on the ground then like stab them or something

I like the one where you punch them in the spinal cord and they die

I just want one with a roundhouse or an axe kick. I also had this idea where you grab them by the right arm and slash their side rib, then stab them in the neck, quick and simple.

For assassinating hunters, I’d say that Chief climbs up the side of the hunter, rips off one of the hunter’s spikes from its back, and shove it down the hunter’s neck area, with a splattering of the classic orange blood.
Doesn’t sound like we will be able to assassinate hunters though. But maybe.

I enjoyed the variety of assassinations in Halo 5 but some of them were way over the top and took way too long. Like I get you wanna style on your enemy but it’s effect is really diminished when you get halfway through your 10 second animation of you turning your opponent into pizza dough and spinning his body on your finger like a basketball only to have literally anybody seeing that kick your balls till you die before it finishes. Like congrats you played yourself.

If they’re relatively short, sweet, to the point, vary depending on incline and with a little bit of flair I wouldn’t mind them returning.

i would like to steal equipment.
the other guy had to earn it back by killing me.

this way an assassination isnt only a visual gimmick but has some impact.
for that it needs some skill, maybe a button combo
plus it should give you an exp boost for the game as an medal ofc

Use their equipment. Stick a plasma grenade to the back of an elite, or drive their own energy sword through their chest (similar to Halo 4’s Promethean assasinations). The normal knife assassinations are already cool and I’ll purposely delay my progress simply to get behind a Zealot for that kill animation but spicing things up with equipment would add an entirely new level of badass to assassinations.

I want assassinations to be brutal. I hope they’re unlockables and have blood if assassinations return in Infinite

I liked the way halo: reach used on assassinations. I think we should go the way doom did and that different assassination animations depended on where you are looking on the enemy. for example: looking at the back of someone’s foot did a sweep the leg then a stab, or the back of the head would do a neak break or a neck/head stab, and so on.

And for when the player is holding a certain weapon, like the energy sword, it will do a animation depending on were you looked at. EX: looking back of the neck will do a animation that halo 5 does, and etc.
