Assassination Counters

Yes, I’ve been playing a lot of Assassin’s Creed II, but I’ve been thinking- why would a Spartan just sit and watch as he gets assassinated? Would he try to fend off the attack? So I came up with the idea of counters. At the timed press of a series of buttons, a player can free himself from an assassination.

But this would make assassinations pointless, you say. I hear you, no one would ever want to assassinate players instead of two swift smacks to the back if the player can counter. That’s why counters should be really hard to achieve.

First, a player needs to initiate the counter, which would require a very quick reaction (the counter option gets blocked after the assassination animation takes you out. After it is initiated, the player will have to struggle against their attacker by tapping a button quickly, and the attacker will have to do the same. The player that fills a bar faster will win (if the assassin wins, he gets the kill and if the assassined wins he manages to free himself). A player who counters will also end up at the loss of shields, which reduces his chances of survival after the struggle significantly.

Benefits:
-Campaign/Firefight/SpOps- this would finally justify AI assassinations.
-Multiplayer- only available as a Custom Game option and for select gametypes (Team Snipers, maybe?) it could be fun.

PS: It’s a terrible idea for multiplayer, isn’t it? XD

Sorry, but I can only see it happening in a few specially made FFA gametypes. It would probably be best if it was for campaign (ie: AI Can only assassinate you on legendary) Firefight /spops, and Customs games ( as an option)
PS: play a later assassins creed if you want to see stuns (counter to assassinations) during multiplayer.

The other spartan cant react quick enough and the spartan assassinating them prevents them from countering by holding onto their arms or placing them into a head lock, cool idea never the less but it may ruin some parts of assassinations.

my problem is that this will make assassinations much slower than they were intended to be.

you don’t want to be struggling with someone in the middle of a crowded battlefield

yeah, maybe. I feel like this will be one of those things that’s good in theory but doesn’t end up being as good as you’d think, like Spartan Ops.

No. It’s a kill that I earned.
