For assassinations in Halo 5, I would like to see the camera be in the first person view when assassinating, rather than a third person. The person being assassinated, I don’t know if they should be either in first person, or third, but the person who is assassinating, should definitely be in first person. Its just a personal preference for me, and I just think it would look cooler, that’s all. The assassinating speed is just fine, so there’s no need to change that.
What would you guys like to see changed with assassinations. Would you like to see this implemented, but with the option to choose either one (as Deaththreat750 noted). Discuss
Here at the 3:30 mark, where there assassinating the grunts is a similar example of what I’m talking about, but it would look completely different, of course.
There should still be a unique assassination animation, but it should act the same as a melee. Same length as a melee, and you can still move around.
So it’s pretty much pre-Reach assassinations, but if the game detects that you’re looking at their back when you melee, you stab them instead of the regular elbow-smack. The victim would briefly be put in third-person to maintain the satisfying feel. No getting locked in place.
I understand from a tactical view, that first person view could get in the way, that’s why I say it be optional, you can either choose to assassinate in the first person or third person. Either way, if not, just have that option in the campaign if you won’t have it in multiplayer, I personally, would think snapping a grunts neck, or stabbing one in the through with a knife in the first person, would look frieken awesome!
Personally I would rather it be in 3rd person. It would allow the animation artists to be more creative with third person assassination animations. Options would be nice but the way I look at it, it would be a waste of time and money to make special animations for 1st person vs 3rd person animations. Overall I think it would be an unneeded addition.
I would think third person view is unfair actually allowing you to see more then you are sposed to. The only person who should be in third person is the victim. imo.

Its a trade for the fact you just didn’t do a normal back attack.

exactly what I think as well, it isn’t really that unfair, but it is a first person shooter, not third.
You’ll see nothing but a flash of light from their shields and a red or blue blur. Why ruin a good thing? I see where you are coming from, but it won’t be as neat as you’re thinking.
