I don’t need a face full of bright light when I’m playing Team Snipes. Thanks
I agree, the sniper sun spot is a bit much. As others have said, the glint should be removed from the BR, Commando, Etc. And only apply to the one shot kill weapons, like the sniper, skewer and such. For them, lower to the current BR level.
It’s been mentioned quite alot & totally agree, hopefully it get’s fixed asap.
Every lens flair needs to be outright removed.
BR, Shock Rifle, Skewer, etc… all of it has got to go.
One of the least fun aspects of the multiplayer core that needs to be changed back to how the original series played.
Could care less if there’s a battle royale coming in 2 years that this mechanic is built for, this is an arena shooter with free flairs to hide your head when scoping in.
Remove all scope glints 343. Doesn’t make sense to even have them from a procedural light physics standpoint either.
There is not a single valid reason for including them given so far.
Same with FF and colission. Nobody wants the change but 343 is just to stubborn to change it back. God knows why…
I don’t hate the glare as much as everyone else - I wouldn’t mind if they were similar so you couldn’t necessarily tell which weapon was being aimed at you.
I don’t necessarily think it needs to be completely removed, BUT it should definitely be smaller and only visible if the Sniper is looking almost directly at you.
343: we hear the feedback so in our next Update we are changing the color of the glint to blue lol
I prefer to have the glint mechanic personally. I think it’s a great source of information allowing a player to make a more informed decision when playing. I.E Should I challenge or should I wrap back. Now that being said I do think it can be tweaked as nothing is perfect. Here are some ideas…
- Color change from yellow to white.
- Turn down the opacity.
- Turn down the bloom/radius.
- Tune the mechanics’ trigger to narrow the FOV.
I don’t think it’s reasonable to remove the mechanic without first trying other solutions. H5 had the same issue if I recall correctly and after a few rounds of tweaking we ended up with a pretty good medium for the glint. Also, I think it’s important to remember that Shotty/ Snipe is a social/party playlist and we shouldn’t be catering mechanics that affect the game as a whole for one playlist that may or may not be rotated out eventually. I myself love the playlist in every title and always hate to see it go but having it and then not having it makes it all the sweeter when it rotates back.
But other shooters do it! We should too!
Appearently they said no…
I still think it just needs to be toned down to that of the Battle Rifles glow personally…
dont give them any ideas man what the heck
As a PC player, if they are gonna keep the glow, all right, but then bring back my red crosshair please. In the heat of the moment sometimes it can be hard to see exactly where my reticle is due to the glow of my enemy.
In fairness, there have been a lot of us who have asked them to fix the BR melee damage discrepancy (between Ranked and Social playlists) that was introduced at the beginning of Season 2. Nothing but silence in return. ![]()
Keep asking, if you think it will mean anything.
There are other solutions that have been tried and succeeded before.

Bullet Trails
- Glint or no glint, bullet trails should be on sniper-class weapons no matter what. I think it’s a much more skillful way to determine where a sniper instead of just being outright told. It’s very simple to know where a stalker Rifle user is based on the bullet trails it leaves.
- And as for the “A good sniper will kill you in one shot” argument, players aren’t always alone. Your friend may get killed, but you can react to the bullet trail and work to take down the sniper yourself if you’re close enough.

Laser Sights:
- The Binary Rifle is the poster child for this trait. When scoped in a bright laser could be seen showing you where the sniper was aiming. This is better because it’s not blinding the way glint is. You can still see the person using it, and you knew if they were aiming at you or someone else.
- Another really cool trait about the laser sight was that the laser was wider near the barrel while it grew thinner down range. If the laser was wide, an ally behind you had the Binary Rifle and if it was thin, an enemy was aiming at your team from far off (this doesn’t always apply, but it’s a good rule to follow. Also just knowing team positioning helps).
Also the glint gives you up through trees and concealment, so now the player with the “stealthy” weapon is exposed to an enemy they can’t even see.
Agreed. Halo 5 was much more subtle and people seemed to be fine.
I’m not exactly sure how it worked in H5, but I know I never felt the pressure that scoping in in Halo Infinite presents. In general I think the FOV was narrower, but sometimes it seemed like it was only flashing when they had red reticle on me.
Why H5 wasn’t just copied (within reason) is beyond me.
Finally, not every gun needs darn light. Only one shot kill/super devastating weapons needed it.
In H5, the gun that had glint were:
- All snipers (Sniper, Beam Rifle, Binary Rifle)
- Rail Gun (when charge)
- Spartan Laser (when charging)
- Shotgun (I THINK and only at super close range. I’ll have to check this. I don’t think the Scatershot had glint).
Not all of Infinite’s guns need glint:
The BR is good, but it’s still a 4-shot kill.
The Commando sure as heck doesn’t need it.
The Stalker Rifle is a 3-shot and very hard to use. It doesn’t need it.
The Hydra isn’t even a sniper and it’s been nerfed hard since H5. It didn’t have it there and it doesn’t need it here.
i like this, turn down the opacity bloom/radius.
OP, what about the people that don’t have the OP sniper? Should the sniper be able to dominate in his little corner against everyone with pistols?
Sorry charlie but I’m glad the sniper light will never go away…and it is because of people like you that want to just take advantage of other players.
Whilst I would prefer glint removed I cant see them doing that.
A half decent compromise would be tone it down so its not obscuring a enemy’s head & not have glint activate the very instant a player aims down sights & should be delayed from happening till about a second into hard scoping.
I think its a nice feature, but i do think that it should be toned down a lot.
