alternative stories can be created in the halo universe, be it parallel stories like comics and movies that treats the multiverse as normal
I DO NOT want this! One of the great things about the Halo franchise is how virtually all canonical content fits easily into a single coherent narrative. The introduction of a âmultiverseâ in a setting that wasnât built around the premise is typically indicative of the writers not having the ability to write compelling stories in an established universe.
The âmultiverseâ is a weakness of comic books. Writers donât plan ahead, and they write themselves into corners, then they reboot the franchise in a parallel universe, over, and over, and over, and over.
How many times has the Joker been killed?
How many times have the X-men been wiped out?
How many times were heroes given a parallel universe where theyâre evil?
In my opinion, Halo is much better than that, and it NEEDS to stay better than that.
Thatâs a no from me dawg⌠definitely donât want a multiverse for Halo. First of all, itâs just gonna look like Halo is copying Marvel. Secondly, if you want a sci-fi series with a multiverse-style of storytelling, there are many others out there⌠to include Marvel.
Halo started out as a fairly straight forward military sci-fi first person shooter franchise. Itâs branched off a bit into more civilian aspects and alien cultures, which I enjoy. But at its core it is that same straight forward military sci-fi franchise. Part of the reason I love Halo is that it is such a vast universe while still being fairly easy to understand and get into.

If you mean a sort of âWhat if?â style thing, they sort of have this, in terms of things like Odd One Out, non - canon, exists in its own bubble, the Halo series will likely be like this with characters being different races and having different motivations than already established.

Well said. Itâs sad how youngsters these days who grew up with pop culture dominated by the superhero genre now expect all franchises to have some sort of multiverse aspect. Even if itâs ill-suited and smacks of narrative laziness.
This is basically what the tv show is doing. theyâre starting over and changing up the characters among a few other things and said it isnât canon.
I canât wait until Infinite comes out so that this and so many other conversations can finally move forward. I just hope people can keep an open mind. Focus on criticizing execution as much as possible. I think holding on to preconceptions about what Halo is and what it isnât will not serve some people well.

Iâm not sure what you mean by this. Iâve yet to see a franchise make this kind of transition successfully. Halo has been a straightforward military sci-fi franchise for almost twenty years. Itâs hard to just completely upend the franchise and make it into something entirely different. It doesnât work. You either lose your dedicated fans or confuse your new ones.
I do agree with you that everyone should keep an open mind though. So much is riding on this game. It would be a shame for everyone to get stuck on some insignificant detail.
I will only agree to a Multiverse if 343i acknowledges that itâs games and all of itâs lore takes place in an alternate reality and that the Prime timeline, Chief is still sleeping in a cryopod around the Legendary Planet.
Otherwise, absolutely not. We do not need it and, much like franchises that introduce time travel despite not having been built around that specific concept, is the mark of a failing franchise being run by people who have no idea what theyâre doing.

Assumptions are funny in that sometimes they are wrong. When assumptions seed expectations and preconceptions, our perceptions of new information can become tainted. We under value some information, over value others, and ignore some altogether. We might even respond with presumptive anger, convincing ourselves that something that was always the plan was a random detour.
Most of you did not heed my warnings years ago. So heed it now. Become more open minded or you and the rest of the vocal majority on this forum are going to be predisposed to respond with anger to where things are going. You are not going to let yourself see it for what it is.
No one really cares buddy, and in general most of the people here tend to agree that 343i has made some major mistakes in handling the franchise. The last thing Halo needs is for 343i to push the franchise over the edge it stands on right now and involve multiverses and time travel and bringing back dead characters just because the whiny portion of the fandom that canât handle change and because 343i canât seem to create any interesting characters that can stand on their own.
Halo is already largely irrelevant in the gaming industry and has been surpassed by newer games and franchises. It doesnât need any help in getting worse, it needs help getter better.
