As predicted, coatings are being reused making promo coatings worthless

I knew this would happen and I’m still sad.

After taking a break of more than a month from Infinite I decided to jump on and play a game. Before I did that I looked at the customisation options only to finally see it happen.

I bought the Razer headphones that gave you the Deathly Poison armour coating. I loved it when I first saw it and I did need new (wireless) headphones anyway so it made perfect sense. I’m not too hung up on audio so as long as they’re okay, they’ll do.

I was worried that they’d slowly start reusing armour coatings, rather than making new unique coatings, we’ll get the same colour scheme with nearly unnoticeable details change and sold to us.

Low and behold in Season 3 Deathly Poison now has an alternative that can be bought for the Mirage core (I forget the coatings actual name).

The same thing happened with the red coatings for the S7. Five coatings pretty much the same, some free from challenges (or Twitch drops), some paid for.

most people prob glitched promo codings worked around them to get them free or returned a thousand+ worth of products for codes or mass bought and mass returned to resell codes. so I think they should be available beyond the promo. especially given they stated they are only exclusive for 6 months

additionally some were region locked more reason to make them available by other means

now a more pressing issue is store prices raising and them making the shop worse

Quite evident when armor coats aren’t color customizable to begin with.

I’m guessing your talking about the HCS Coating Optic Launch coating, which is also grey and bright green coating. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that those colors were probably picked by the Optic Team, not 343i specifically. I’m sure they have at least some say in what colors are used for their teams coating.

Don’t really have a big deal about people getting similar coatings either to promotion ones personally. It’s been a year and a half. If tomorrow they released a Northwest Sky look-a-like I wouldn’t have a problem in the world. I honestly feel it’s a little petty to complain about this, more so since they never stated it wouldn’t become available in another means going forward.

Also, like you yourself mentioned… It’s still locked down to the Mirage Core. Your Coating is used for the Mark VII core I presume like my northwest sky coating.

They did the same thing with the camo coating for season 2 core. The store has the Spring bundle that is a green camo for every core that’s almost identical and costs $14. Freaking ridiculous 343i!
