It never worked in the masterchief collection but booted right up on infinite launch day and worked great until today and as of today my whole game crashed over and over and whadia know after a 3 hour ban my analog keyboard doesnt work anymore. Can someone confirm? Or is everything hidden behind the 343 curtain. Seriously…
I mean somebodies gotta be a real piece of -Yoink!- to remove the ability to use it from the game after it was released and worked perfectly… Or maybe I’m just doing something and my pc has goofed up. but, seriously. Are there any patch notes or anything? Why would it just… not work anymore. I submitted a ticket about it. but apparently people at 343 are braindead. or just dont give a -Yoink!- about people. hello.
Do you have anything else running in the background at all? Something that may be utilizing your keyboards functions over the game like an internet pop up?
If you were implying that 343 contends that personal computers shouldn’t be allowed to have third party programs you would be correct. After playing the beta the last few days it’s clear they’re still trying to spin up their infrastructure, but as it stands that isn’t the biggest problem with Infinite. The most egregious issue I’ve seen so far is their unmanaged kernel implementation that conflicts with harmless input drivers like Logitech, Razer, Corsair, and probably many others, and it’s all probably because of some [R-WORD] security heuristic they’re trying to force on us at the kernel level to prevent their software from being -Yoink!- with or prevent snotty kids from using cheats. They’re pretty ballsy for deploying in this manner I must say, this software will be ripped apart for rampant game hacking if they’re going to behave like this and try to assert such an obtuse demand. If that’s not enough, they lack transparency in properly documenting their patch notes, and refuse to engage with technical users in the community on a level that could very well help them. This hand-wavy behavior is a really -Yoink!- way to deal with holiday crunch and only ticks everyone off more than they already were. if any security engineers on their team has any morals they would leave this project but it’s clear there is some fat money being laid down to ask them to write this. If you’re going to do it this way, at least properly QA/QC the heuristics for false positives instead of using us as your test bed.
Halo has always been a default windows os game only. It hates anything to do with mouse software thats for sure. I am also pretty sure the reason my game started crashing left and right is because they removed the ability to use a mouse/keyboard and controller at the same time. which is exactly how masterchief collection worked. but, now on infinite the analog keyboard doesnt work. period. in master chief collection you could use it but not at the exact same time as the mouse. I have no idea what is going on at this point because they patched it under the table and didnt mention anything about it. Which really sucks because it was an awesome awesome awesome gaming experience. for about a week…
SOLVED: I have no idea why. But, once I went into steam big picture mode and toggled force controller. it started working again. I have a feeling something inbetween crossplay toggled it off or maybe it was patched to have to be. ect ect. but got it!
If anyone wants to see how disgusting their security measures are, all you need to do is take one look at this:

No one has an issue with having some basic anti-debugging measures in your software (& game-security measures), that’s not what I take issue with. It’s the blind and obtuse demand that nearly half of all personal computer users are essentially barred from playing the game should they 1. Be a Software engineer, or 2. Have any non-microsoft (or non-343) approved software on their system…
It’s disgusting and immoral, let alone extremely deceptive since your software, documentation, or usage terms state NOTHING of this sort anywhere.
The people making the decisions on this team need to grow the -F- up.
They are probably bound by so many contracts because cortana is a part of the windows os. Im pretty sure halo was suppose to be way bigger on pc than what it turned out to be with windows phone failing. and android taking everything over. this game is suppose to be the new solitare and minesweeper for the next 25 years lol.
