Yeah they still exist. Alot of them became spartan IVs though but they’re still doing stuff

Only the best ODSTs became Spartan-IVs. Most didn’t.

I’d like to think my guy would turn down the Spartan Program invite if offered. I honestly think I have 2 Halo fanon characters, my ODST, and my Spartan III
And I hope ODST are still a thing, they’re barely mentioned in the books, 343i is so obsessed with portraying their Spartan IV’s that they want us to forget about the rest of the military groups

Not a lot. There’s only a few hundred S-IV’s out there. Less than 1,000 for sure. There’s easily tens of thousands of ODST’s in active service.
I’d be a spartan 4 cause I wouldn’t want to be ripped away from my family at a young age or be a orphan lol. I notice on here how people hate the fours but really don’t put their selves in the 2s & 3s shoes, is that what you would of wanted or would you would have wanted to be an adult volenteer? I love the 2’s and 3’s but I would rather be a four lol. ODSTs are badass but I want shields and my power armor!

The way 343i depicts the story makes it seem ODST’s are just used for private missions, that one book with Naomi

No, not really. Spartans are just the cream of the crop, whereas ODSTs and other special forces operate separately. Many Special operations units in the real world operate alone and cooperatively, some more than others. And 343 hasn’t written that many books yet.

Yeah, and that would only be a fraction of the S-IVs. Remember there are also Air Force, Navy, Army, and non-ODST Marine Special Operations units that are pulled from, plus ONI Special Operations.

The way 343i portrays spartan IV’s makes me think they’re trying to replace everyone, just the lack of presence of the other military groups is what’s making me uncomfortable

Spartans should be a part of branches and not a branch entirely. The whole point of Spartans is a special force of warrior created and trained for serious threats by branches
Orion Project and spartan II’s: Insurrection, connected to UNSC Navy/ Marine Corp.
Spartan III’s: Covenant, UNSC Navy, ONI, Army (Noble Team, excluding Jorge)
granted the Spartan branch has its own companies and units, the reason for the creation of those units has yet to be dived into and explained.
I loved Halo for its realistic military feel ven though it was based into the future.
