As long as I can still find a game......

Well can you? And when you do how much of the black screen do you get? It is literally nearing unplayable. In a given hour the time spent searching for match is probably equal to the actual in play time.

I find games all the time and rarely get a black screen. One day I played 12 matches and got a black screen once for less than a minute.

Is you NAT open? Maybe it’s your connection.

Almost never get the black screen. Check your connection. also check your NAT. open is prefered but moderate works fine. If both of those are okay it could be your router.

A personnel friend of mine lags etc all the time even though he has decent connection. The problem? he has a very old router. imagine your internet as water. the connection and router are pipes. if you have a old router its essentially trying to get alot of water to rush fast through a very narrow pipe.

I rarely get black screen unless the game starts and someone is JIP.

The Internet is like a series of tubes.

I can always find games like it’s no tomorrow. And I rarely see black screen.

NAT is open. Internet is not the issue. Lag is adding to the poor experience.

Then it could be your router. Talk to your provider and see if it’s the latest model. Also your internet could be getting overhauled. How many people are using the internet when you play? Resetting your router can also help. It not only resets your connection but it kicks any un needed people who may be using your internet (if its wireless) or any backround things not needed running on your computer which should give a faster experience.

Routers don’t age as fast as the game population declines. Packages over the internet does not increase in size from the sender to the reciever as the population decrease.

While an old router may be a problem, I don’t think that it magically would have worked without lag at the start of Halo 4.

Can there be overhauls? Yes, can there be problems with the router? Yes. Can it be background stuff on the user’s end? Yes.

Can it however be bad hosts in the game? Yes. Can it be due to the low population at the time OP plays whatever playlist he/she plays? Yes.

Sometimes I can play several games without lag, but other times, I can barely play. Several matches with over 5 blackscreens, red ping bars for everyone and rubberbanding like there was an exercise rubberband keeping us in place.

All while having the exact same conditions on my own network and to my provider.

I’ve noticed that search times have been longer lately, and laggy matches have become fairly common. It isn’t that bad though. You should try doing an internet speed test.

I never get black screen I do spend longer than I’d like searching for games though.

TDM express of MW2 guaranteed you a 1 minute wait between games. I seem to spend a good 5 minutes on H4, even without leaving lobby.

Don’t see why this post was needed. I was merely telling him to try all other options before just assuming its the game. I hardly have anywhere near the best internet. And i have a laggy match maybe 1/100 games if even. And it’s not like i live anywhere near any big place. I’m in nebraska.

He just gave you some possible answers to the blacksreen problem

i have found that the new csr system tries to match you with people of your similar csr rating. this increases the time to wait for matches. so crappy, because it keeps pitting me against teams and parties while i am only one person. ugh!
