Hello everybody, I’ve been seeing this word show up an awful lot lately.
Innovation.
Its what made Halo the amazing game it once was, pre Reach.
Now, 343 is in a bit of a tight spot. They realize the need to innovate, but they can only do so much without enraging their fanbase. The changes must be gradual. Halo has been running on the same setup for 10 years, literally. While many criticize CoD, they’ve only been repeating for 5 (since 07 with CoD4).
I would like to see the game improve and evolve, like many of you, in a way that respects and builds upon the original, not destroys it.
Reach made changes. Some were interesting. Some were bad. Some were fun. Many weren’t well-done and lacked refinement for two reasons.
- First time
- Bungie left them out to dry after launch, refusing to alter, modify, or make a TU
Halo 4 will also make changes, because like it or not, it has to. Eventually the 10 year old set up WILL get old to even the most stalwart fans. It is up to the individual whether or not he/she will embrace, criticize, or give these changes a chance.
That being said, a new shooter I played has very fun and fresh gameplay(at least to me)
The general feel of the game was very engaging and I felt that it has some interesting features not common among other games of the genre(don’t judge me). Please note I do not think Halo should be this way, merely listing an example of some new stuff.
Spartan Ops just might be this.
Innovation also refers to make changes to something already established.
What they can do at this point can probably be take something established: AAs and Perks
and Change them into something different, or maybe balanced(Something that CoD doesn’t seem to do).
Though I can’t talk about the “Perks” from the leaks, all I can say is the following:
-They’re still subject to change
-They have a Advantage and a Disadvantage to them, as opposed to CoD where all they had were advantages.
- Less means less options and OP combos.
> Spartan Ops just might be this.
Spartan Ops will be different, and probably very enjoyable, but from what I’ve heard it will be something like a secondary campaign, and once its done it will be done.
I was talking more about a persistent gameplay altercation. Something innovative that sets it apart from all other FPS games. Like how Halo CE literally revolutionized the genre, along with a very intriguing storyline and fiction to back up all the cool contents.

Um, the very most basic point of SOps is that it’s an evolving feature, unlike a campaign mode. Week by week you will see something new so I can’t possibly see how you heard that.
Oh, and for the record Halo 1 only revolutionized the genre by demonstrating you could have an FPS on the consoles that was in the same ballpark as a PC FPS. It’s greatest contribution therefore was our system for bullet magnetism and a control layout, so you don’t need to have big-ticket features (like Forge or Matchmaking) to have an impact.
