As A 'Competitive' Halo Fan 343, You Sadden Me.

I would like to leave my piece of criticism here:

I know you’re trying to expand the current audience for Halo, but please stop killing off and screwing over the other, important, major part of the fanbase. The competitive part. I love Halo, and it saddens me to see Halo 4 throw me away, it’s like my opinion and feedback, and the competitive feedback didn’t matter to you. You didn’t care about the backlash you got from Reach, you’re just chasing the money, again. You don’t care if so many fans were angry about Armor Abilities and random, casual gameplay. It seems like you don’t care, since you brought it all back for Halo 4. Please stop. Listen to us. Change Halo 4 for the better, and give us a public Beta so we can help you help us. I know it’s not in your current plan/schedule to release a public beta, but If you’re going to make all these major changes like Insta Respawn, and changing up the weapon spawning system, let us try them out, and give you criticism so the changes aren’t broken, and horrible.

Halo 4 is going to end just like Reach if you keep this up. The population will stay High, until the next Call of Duty game comes out. Then the population will drop. The new fans you attracted will abandon you again. The casual players will abandon you again. The only part of the fanbase you can trust to keep Halo 4 at a healthy, high population are the dedicated, competitive fans, and, just like with Reach the competitive fanbase will have also abandon, because you abandoned us.

343, Don’t pull off a Reach, as you seem to be pulling, at the very least, add an MLG or Classic/Traditonal gamemode and playlist, at launch, day one, and don’t make them minor changes, and last minute things. Make them actual parts of the game, not another ‘alternative’. Pull a Halo 3 and make a ‘social’ and ‘competitive’ section of match making. With ‘competitive’ bringing back true skill, and 1-50 back.

Just wanted to share my opinions. Thanks. : )

Man, Reach is such an awesome game.

be honest and just admit that Reach failed. pretend it never happened. like rocky 5.

I liked rocky five

Yeah, let’s just pretend this thread isn’t done at least fifty times a week, right?

Good Lord, patience is non-existent in the Halo fanbase.

Honestly I think everyone needs to stop jumping to conclusions and calling it CoD. There are MANY class based shooters, so why is CoD the first thing that pops in everyones head?

Patience? From a fanbase that want DMR/BR only gametypes that end all fights within a second?

Thread: “Dear 343 as a Competitive Halo player…”
Five min latter
New Thread: “Dear 343 as a Competitive Halo player…”
Five min latter
Another new Thread: “Dear 343 as a Competitive Halo player…”

Why can’t you guys unify your efforts like the Elite players? That Thread is over 100 pages. Serious a new thread every few min people can’t be expected to take you guys seriously. Prove your point instead of just complaining. Populate Halo 3 or even populate playlist on Reach that doesn’t have the things complained about like MLG, it tops out at like 1500 on a good day, PROVE something! You guys just come off as annoying entitled brats. Now to be fair the OP was polite compared to others which some on these forums can’t claim, but honestly this kind of thread pops up too often.

Yeah, that’s true.

My expectations for this forum shouldn’t have been so ridiculously high.

As a fan of the new changes…I can’t really deny that the competitive players are getting -Yoinked!- right and left. It seems like they’re trying to level the playing field for a more fun experience for everyone, but not a competitive experience for everyone.

I’ve never understood exactly why 343 doesn’t understand the basic montra that “A competitive game can be played casually, but a casual game cannot be played competitively.” As much as I’m going to enjoy picking my loadout and AA, being able to use the power weapons more often, and getting EXP per kill and all that nonsense, I don’t really see why they did it. I would have been just as happy had they made an ultra-competitive Halo game like Halo 2 or 3.

I guess they really felt the need to change things up. I don’t think they felt the need to “copy Call of Duty”; That’s complete bogus. 343 has more integrity than that.

I really hope that most of this speculation is wrong and it somehow all comes together to be the best casual and competitive game in the series. I doubt it will be, but here’s to hoping, right?

If that fails, we’ve all got Tribes: Ascend =)

as a competitive player, i’m disappointed in this post.

> Man, Reach is such an awesome game.

I 100% agree with you. I love Reach.

You seem to be very well spoken and intelligent.

Though, you also seem very entitled.

Just wait until the game is out.

If it sucks, it sucks.
If it’s great, people will still find flaws.

That is just how people are.

They’re trying to cater to EVERYONE here. Not just the casuals, not just the competitives, it’s everyone they’re trying to include in this experience. And just for the record, Reach wasn’t made by 343, it was made by Bungie. In fact, 343 were the ones who patched Reach so certain classic elements could return (too bad the playlists aren’t what I’d call fully ‘classic’ though).

There are a few things from Halo 2/3 that are returning to Halo 4 that the competitive community loved.

  • BR.
  • Faster player movement.
  • Regenerating health (I’m guessing that also means fall damage is out of the picture).
  • Classic playlists with no Armour Abilities.

Then you have the casuals and the few competitives that enjoyed Reach, 343 are giving them the DMR and Armour Abilities (and probably a few more things that I’ve forgotten/not read about yet).

Wow, just wow. I especially liked the statement where he said only competitive players are loyal to Halo. As if he knew everybody in the world and know how they think. You could never have fit anymore false facts into that one sentence.
