As a co-op player: Is the campaign worth waiting 9 months for?

343 just dropped the road map, and online co-op is delayed to late August, basically where Season 3 used to be.
I have made a post months ago about my disappointment with 343’s track record with co-op. So I already had low expectations.
but 9 months.
My girlfriend and I wanted to wait until co-op is out before we play the campaign. Now we are waiting a total of 9 months for co-op. She just got a new job, I’m graduating from college on May 6th. we’re both going to be busy in the meantime.

So, I’m asking all of you who played it. I don’t want to see spoilers I just want to know, in general as the title says, is the campaign really worth waiting this long to play, or should we just move on already?
At this point I’m so disappointed that I either need someone to convince me that checking in on this game in August is worth the wait. Is it really that good single-player that co-op would be that much better?

It’s a great story. Gameplay loop feels great and I personally loved the campaign. I think it’s worth it. But that’s me personally. I don’t speak for the rest of the community

I think so, yes. I very much enjoyed it, and I cannot wait for a Legendary coop run with the crew. It’s super disappointing to wait that long, but I expect it to be enjoyable.

Because the campaign is open world for a lot of it, how much fun you get out of it I’d totally up to you.

If you beeline to every destination using the grapple, it’s got pretty repetitive gameplay. If you approach objectives in a variety of ways, you’ll have a lot of fun and different encounters

I’ll say one thing;

It has the absolute highest amount of -Yoink!- around and co-op shenanigans potential of any Halo, ever.

Just go ahead and play it if you cannot wait for 343 to bring the mode. I mean, the issue people take with scheduling around a game’s development is that it is subject to change so you might just have to go ahead and play it already if you can’t wait anymore.

Gameplay wise, it will probably be a lot of fun to play with people, it all depends on how well they implement co-op in the open world.
I am glad others have enjoyed the campaign. I did not.
It feels like a story written in reaction to the poor reception of the last two games.
Almost like 343i just wrote in a big circle. It could change in the future with the story expansions.
I think you should wait for co-op. Like or dislike it, It will probably be a lot more enjoyable either way co-op.

It will be when they add a mission replay feature.

I had a lot of fun playing through the campaign and enjoyed it overall both on the narrative and gameplay side of things (not perfect, but I honestly consider it much better than H4’s which was my “favorite” 343i campaign prior). The omission of a mission replay option is a bit understandable given the “open” structure of the campaign. However, without that feature, the campaign’s replayability is astonishingly diminished compared to previous Halo games.

Honestly campaign was really disapointing, but the open world should make it fun to mess around with friends for at least an evening.

Only played the campaign once and really don’t care for any moments of it. Have friends who aren’t even bothering to finish it. I don’t think mission replay will do much, since every level is pretty much the same grey forerunner hallways with hologram flashbacks to the true halo 6.

I do not, there isn’t already much to do and enemies are pretty easy already, it doesn’t seem that fun with more players. Kind of like playing Assassins Creed unity coop. Free roam a but realize there wont be a lot to do.

No, it’s easily the worst of the series. Watch all the trailers for Infinite and you’re caught up

Short answer. No.

And im puting extra fluff in because 343 requires me to put fakking 20 characters in a reply.

Thanks for everyone’s responses. I’ve cooled off on the topic, but still sad. I’ll respond to some of these.

My GF and I already made a promise. And if there is one thing I learned playing Halo, you don’t make a girl a promise you can’t keep. Though she did say I could go ahead and play it without her until co-op is out, but I wanted to experience the game fresh with her, unlike the other games where co-op came later.

Fair enough. To be honest Infinite feels like it was intended to be in direct response to the negatives of Halo 4 and 5. But wasn’t finished and had too much of microsoft making devs shove a store and F2P where it doesn’t belong. As someone who liked Halo 4, but not Halo 5 (though I’m softer on it now), I don’t mind the story being shifted. I have some fears that will wait until I play.

Yeah I noticed that mission replay will be added at the same time. And with vehicle balancing being bad across the whole game, and lack of actual armor in the armor lockers, I had some hopes that the whole campaign is being over-hauled.

Oh gosh I remember AC unity co-op. I usually make my own fun with open-world games. I love exploring. But that is so specific, I know exactly what you mean.

Overall, most people are positive, some negatives do have their points. Thanks again everyone.

You’d be better off not wasting your time with this extremely boring, easy, empty, non-changing, and lack luster open world. Just play elden ring.

The actual story missions in the campaign I felt were pretty good.

The open world I found really underwhelming.

The environment never changes.
It’s still quite linear.
Nothing happens if the player isn’t present.
There are no shifting front lines or territories.
UNSC forward operating bases are often in range of enemy positions yet don’t interact.
There is no weather system.

I’m not saying the open world is bad but it does feel utterly lifeless. I can’t think of a single innovative feature and even open world games from over a decade ago have more developed worlds than Infinite does.

I would say go and wait for them to make the announcement, I did that waiting for the next season.

Maybe if its not just Master Chief clones. I actually played 5’s campaign multiple times just because it was actual characters besides master chief that we could play as.

I genuinely have no idea how Co-Op campaign could possibly work in a giant open world like this, because it’s not like they’re going to let player 1 go do one mission and player 2 go do a different mission. I imagine player 2 is going to be forced to stay within a circle area around player one, and leaving it kills them or teleports them.

As for how fun it would be? Ehhhhhh… Might be more fun with a friend. I just wanted to get it over with and beat it on all difficulties including LASO on my day off the day after it came out. I pretty much just spammed the grapple at the ground and enemies 99% of the time. The story is pretty forgettable and feels rushed. Goofing around with a friend might be fun though

By the way, split screen is TBA 2023, so hopefully you were planning on playing it on separate consoles

No. Don’t bother. __

I mean, it’s not like we have much choice.
