Any one know if support options will be available in Halo Infinite, supports like artillery, ODST drop, air strike and maybe even mac strike? I am tossing up between Infinite and Squad, I think Infinite would be more fun than Squad if it had support options
I would’ve put this post in the halo infinite section, but to answer you’re question, I have no clue at all. They haven’t said anything about that.
Someone else brought up a similar questions in another post (may have been you, but I’m too lazy to check). My answer in that post is the same as this one: these are RTS game features. Therefore, they don’t always transfer well to FPS games. HW and HW2 involve things like artillery, ODST drops, and air strikes/mac strikes.
something like supplies or air aid with the call of duty, but that’s if you don’t overdo it and still have the firepower of a Halo game

I have to agree with Happy Place here. Those sound like RTS leader powers to me and probably wouldn’t work well in FPS, especially if we’re able to already utilise air and land vehicles. It would be a whole lot going on for no particular reason.
that would be cool
Using mac strike blablabla it sounds great, but i dont think its a good idea, neither they will nerf EVERy single supports, or they’ll make the support very OP until a normal player without support just die, i meant like even there is a support, the support must also be used with skill, not like i have a support, then i start blasting like a noob, like the noob kills, this is my idea though

Reach had a artillery similar to a mac round (kindaish). Wouldnt be too meta breaking.

I assume you’re referring to the Target Designator? If so, that’s a fair comparison. But I would then argue that limited features such as a target designator to call in artillery would be fine, but having the ability to call in ODSTs, multiple air strikes, artillery, etc would start feeling like an RTS and not an FPS. FPS kinda means you’re one person doing the job of one person. RTS kinda means you’re an entire army, and command one as such. They’re just two different styles of game play, and it can be hard to mix the two.
Honestly it would be pretty cool in a custom game/forge setting, in MCC people like me who make operation maps have little to nothing to work with, the closest thing in MCC is a target designator that has three salvos then it’s bugged for the rest of the game, I hope infinite does have something like this even if you have to work with in game scripting like 5’s or H2A’s. It would make fights more memorable and chaotic
Anyone remember the orbital strike from Reach’s Firefight?
If a weapon like that would be avaible in BTB, it would be actually a good thing. But not as a kind of reward for killstreak, more like an weapon that’s just around

Ok fair enough, that’s a good point. I suppose something like the Target Designator wouldn’t be too bad if it was a thing in Infinite. I’m sure it would be fairly integrated into the sandbox and scaled accordingly as most things are. I just don’t see the ODST’s dropping in from the sky however!

Stuff like the OPs suggestion was one odd the highlights of BF5 gameplay. The squad leader support call-ins were fun and easy-to-use but hard-to-master. They were things like an artillery drop and supply drop

Maybe not ODST team in drop pods. But calling a pelican for a warthog drop with a gunner isnt too out of the realm, after all, that happens very frequently in Halo, it’s just scripted.

Ah ok gotcha! I haven’t played any of the Battlefield games so I haven’t got an opinion on it. It would be an interesting thing to add into the game but would it take away Halo’s identity?

Maybe, but similar concepts could be done in a Halo way. Reach had the target designator, which dropped an artillery barrage wherever the user wanted. But it was attached to a power weapon, which is very Halo
. If the ideas are implemented using a power weapon, or using map control somehow, it could make sense.
I’m not attached to the concept really, but I do think it could be brought in with some cool concepts if 343 wants.

It could be a cool Warzone idea, if the game is going to be as open world as it is then hopefully the Warzone maps are massive and there will be room for such things.
I don’t think aerial support would work well lore wise in the campaign since most UNSC ships were destroyed. It might work in MP with target scopes or something. ALSO a great idea would be if there is ODST drop, then it spawns actual ODSTs. that would be OP in matchmaking, but would work well in custom games
Heading Downtown: Drop 10 ODSTs on Banished forces.
I can already see the achievement and challenge potential for titles and emblems. This is for Firefight by the way.
