I dont care what anyone says. No matter what. 343 needs to bring Sergeant Avery Johnson back.
Make him an AI. Make him have some awesome fanservice reveal. I dont care. Just bring him back.
I know all the lore. I know all the intentions. I also know the ladies like the Johnson.
I get the more serious tone of the recent games but youre doing a disservice to the series when you dont even let players remember who their daddy wouldve really been.
Halo 2 absolutely unapologetically brought him back for the betterment of the game. Why cant Infinite?
I like the idea of making him a clone of some kind, if cloning exists in sci-fi franchises that take place like 50 years in the future and Halo is 500 years off, I really don’t see how they can’t figure something out there. I’m aware cloning exists already to some extent? But I’m not sure how well it’s been explored.

Apparently the clones of the original spartan kids shortly died after their creation. Which isnt exactly far fetched. How long of a time do we ever even see Johnson? A mission or 3? Maybe a few months together?
Miranda probably had dozens of artificial Johnsons ready to be used to her pleasure at any time. Right onboard the Dawn.
All the loreboys are gonna have to suck it up and. Do what Johnson said best to that glowing eyeball dork. “DEAL WITH IT.”
No. He is dead. Threads like this are low effort spam, lead nowhere, and should be locked.

Well you seem to be in a particularly fine mood.

I’m tired of threads like this about bringing characters back. Especially ones where the OP makes it clear they are not willing to change their mind.

Okay then. Youve submitted your dismissive opinion. You have no power here beyond that so your calls for moderation against things you dont like are for naught. Go discuss in another thread things you like. The ladies like Johnson.

They seem to done it before. Halo CE to Halo 2? he came back when she shouldnt have. Its like the ratchet and clank series. Cronk and Zephyr died but they turned to ghost (despite they are a robot). Maybe the cloning is too ridiculous but the AI sounds fun. Or maybe come back as an announcer like Halo 5.
Besides, hes a leader in Halo Wars 2 and that game is after Halo 3.

They brought him back because he never died in halo 1,that legendary “death” was non canon. He died and to bring him back would cheapen his death.Dont give me that miranda keyes had plenty of a.i sgt johnsons lying around. This isnt fan fiction
I really hope they don’t. It would be a real disservice to the way they sent him off in halo 3. Plus I would feel kinda forced too

Halo 2 didn’t bring him back out of no where. By that logic, they brought Chief back out of no where too because he was completely trapped in the middle of space in a broadsword. There’s an entire book about how Johnson and Chief got back. Then there was an entire comic that specifically explained how Johnson escaped the Flood during the level 343 Guilty Spark.
I understand why you want Johnson back. He was a fantastic character. But the dead should stay dead (see Cortana for a perfect example of what not to do with a dead character). Johnson’s death was so impactful not only because he was a fan favorite, but because of how severely it impacted Chief. All he had left after that was Cortana. Then in H4, Cortana died. So Cortana’s death was made even more painful because he had no one else from his old life to fall back on in his grief (Blue Team could have done this, but their portrayal in H5 was so poorly done). Imagine if Johnson was there to comfort Chief on the Infinity after the events of H4 instead of Lasky. Chief might have been okay if Johnson helped him work through his grief. The fact that both these characters left Chief in such a short time had a profound effect on him. He didn’t even have time to grieve for Johnson before Cortana died. If one had survived, the other’s death wouldn’t have been as important.
Well, Johnson definitely is that “one” character that is bad*** just for the sake of being bad***.
But the thing is that Johnson really was more of a bungie thing, much like the number “7” and I just dont think it would be the same anymore. In addition to that, I dont think Johnson would have more to offer to Halo, he had one of the most memorable endings in the franchise and bringing him back from the death would pretty much dimish that part of the story.
“Send me out… with a bang.”

The legendary cutscenes for HCE is not cannon. His appearance in HW2 is also not cannon.
the simple answer is because he died. I can’t think of a creative and cannon way to bring him back? How would they pull that off?
They’d shouldn’t bring him back he’s dead. If they were to do something with Johnson it should be a spinoff game early in the war, when he was alive.
It would be cool to see a type of prequel game with Johnson, or maybe see him in a flashback or something. But I feel it would make his death have less weight to it if they just brought him back in the flesh.
As much as I’d like to hear some great one liners return to Halo, I dont think it would work well in campaign. Now there may be some other ways to add Johnson back into the series like in multiplayer but I’m not sure.
Yeah no. Him dying was emotional. Leave him dead.
Maybe a voice pack for warzone or something. But the guy is dead and should not be brought back.
Cortana’s a smart AI built on the template of Catherine Halsey- partly because she couldn’t be two places at once and her expertise was too valuable to be kept “in one basket.” Ostensibly if Halsey had been captured or killed in the Covenant War, having Cortana around would’ve helped to mitigate the severity of that loss.
Books like Silent Storm are adding to the legend of Avery Johnson in the Halo lore, if the fact that he was even prior to that addition one of the most decorated and revered non-super soldiers (his involvement in the SPARTAN I program being entirely obfuscated to almost everyone) in the entire fiction wasn’t enough to justify some similar treatment for him.
I’m not arguing that Johnson would be considered to be as vital an asset as Halsey, and definitely not with regards to the same areas of expertise. But, in terms of a military genius who had experience working with just about every branch in the UNSC as both a leader and a comrade, his mind may have been considered sufficiently valuable to have had a similar treatment.
We may have had a Johnson AI this whole time and just find out about it in Infinite. As others have said, it’s a more plausible explanation than was his just appearing in Halo 2 with zero explanation whatsoever as to how he survived the events of CE and found his way there.
** Edit: I’m entirely in favor of Johnson’s AI being the one we see Chief load into his helmet in the Infinite trailer. Understanding that, like Cortana isn’t fundamentally Dr. Halsey, but a spinoff based on her mind and personality; Johnson’s AI could be different and interesting in ways we have no way of guessing. It could be very intriguing to see how Chief interacts with almost his long-dead buddy.
There seems to be some misinformation here. Johnson, along with a whole host of characters, was shown to have survived Halo: CE in the book Halo: First Strike. He wasn’t brought back for no reason or out of the blue.
That said, he died in Halo 3 and it should stay that way.
